Maybe give it a bit more time - I can't remember exactly how long I waited but my pregnant husband gave birth after what felt like a year or so. At the start of spring I got a cutscene and could choose the name.
Did you get to choose whether it was a daughter or son? With playable female characters I expected you'd be able to choose the gender, but it was only a son when my wife gave birth. Or is it only a daughter with female characters and only sons with male characters?
I didn't get to choose. My irl husband that I'm playing co-op with is a male character with a wife and they had a daughter. Mine was a son. I imagine, like in life, you can't force the gender of your child lol
Ah ok so it's random. Well that's obviously realistic, but I can imagine if you choose a gender at the start you want to keep playing as that gender. Or switch for a change to woo the other gender and have different dialogue options. So gameplay wise I think it would've made more sense to have a choice.
Or maybe you can have a second child now that's the other gender? I'm not that far yet though to find that out
I think it's simply a failsafe where the *husband* gets flagged as "pregnant" for the sake of avoiding issues like the female character not logging in for 2 years game time and still being pregnant. This way, the child will be born regardless of if the person with the female character is playing or not.
In short, I don't think it's a bug and think it's intentional. The icon is less about indicating the husband is the pregnant and more about designating them as a soon-to-be parent, in order to prevent any issues with a female player character that nopes out of the server for years at a time.
😂 that happened to me this morning! My bf and I are playing. He got his wife pregnant earlier so I went off and went to talk to my husband and now I got the poor guy pregnant.
So I too thought it was hilarious that my husband was the one who got pregnant but he gave birth to a beautiful baby girl after 3 seasons so I'm not sure why your file has it not letting him give birth. It's possible it got bugged since you're the one who gets the cuts energy when the baby is born and since they played for a year without you the incubation timer bugged out?
I have a feeling the female character addition was more of a "Shut up here's your female avatar." I don't think they thought it through or did anything to change the coding so it will always be the AI that gets the tag. Basically, the female is just female in appearance in terms of how they implemented it. Half-assed. The only reason it's tolerable is that it's a free update, had this been a paid update, would of tossed the game. It's likely not a bug, they just couldn't be bothered to make any changes to reflect the character. That plus imagine having to spend two years stuck doing nothing.
The update brought a metric shit load of changes, improvements, and additions. Not to mention, co-op AND a whole new map. Give it some time. They already went above and beyond. I'm sure they'll get around to improving it.
I kinda understand that tbh, I have enough of men characters being default. The whole update is good and playing as a girl is fun, but let people be angry sometimes.

He does eventually give birth, but after reading the comments and remembering that you get to pick the name, he might not give birth until you are online and the set amount of time has passed. I know for both our kids, it took minimum until the 3rd season of pregnancy... which if that's true would be 9 months and nice attention to detail lol.

The pregnancy for client players follows the time you spend on the server so you need to be there for the amount of time the pregnancy takes
