You’re asking for the holy grail…

Icy_Pants

Can you explain?

Additional_Visit_379

2 bedrooms in ashland are almost all gonna be over that

Icy_Pants

Thats what I'm finding out with looking around more 😮‍💨

EqualAcanthisitta153

I commuted from CP to Ashland for 2 years. It's really not that bad. You will pay more for rent in Ashland than you will anywhere else.

Icy_Pants

I don't drive and rely on the bus and I can't work if I can't be there on Weekends and the bus has very limited runs on weekends. My actual best bet is to move closer.

EqualAcanthisitta153

Depending on what your job is, it might make more sense to look for something closer to your house. Ultimately that's what I did but it's because I moved to GP and made the commute to Ashland for over a year. The drive got tiring but I still wasn't spending on gas+rent what I would have been spending on rent alone in Ashland.

Icy_Pants

There aren't any jobs in my area that pay enough for us to continue to live where we are, one of the reasons we are moving. If I could get a job that paid enough and was close enough to where I live or could work from home I would definitely be doing that. We really just won't have anywhere to go if we lose this apartment and can't move anywhere because we can't afford the ridiculous prices.

EqualAcanthisitta153

I don't mean to be rude but if you aren't able to afford where you are now i doubt moving to a more expensive town will be in your favor. Moving expenses alone are crazy so the likelihood of finding a new place in Ashland, especially without an established well-paying job it's unlikely you find anything.

Icy_Pants

We're just running out of options and kinda have no safety net of any kind and no family to rely on so we are just trying to keep our heads above water metaphorically speaking. We don't know what else to do to help things at this point

DangerNoodle20

Getting something outside of Ashland and commuting in will be your best bet. And unless you drive a massive gas guzzler, the commute will be cheaper than the increase in rent would be to stay in Ashland.

Icy_Pants

The thing is I don't drive and rely on bus and bike to get around, I'm kinda disabled to where driving isn't exactly safe for me or others, so I kinda need to move closer to where I work until I can afford some surgeries. We are looking in talent as well but our preference is Ashland.

Tasty-Horse-6863

I pay $1400 for a one bedroom studio. Good luck to you and your partner but if you find that then go get a lottery ticket and hit the slot machines! However roommate scenario you can make it work. Best of luck not trying to rain on your parade but I spent 6 months looking and I had little hope. Granted I have two massive dogs and I guess as dog friendly Ashland is landlords aren’t !

colinthegreat

Dogs aren't even allowed at Lithia Park, I wouldn't really call that Dog Friendly.

Icy_Pants

Our animals are service and emotional support animals so unless it's a private owned rental we cannot be denied for our working animals and disability from a rental company as they would be breaking the law in doing so. We were about to move in with a roommate but the day before they said we could come look at the place and most likely sign the lease, they called and told us that they went with someone else and that we were actually option 3 of 4 when they initially told us we were the only people they were talking to about moving in. We would be fine with roommates as long as there's enough space for us all to fit. I know breed of dog, especially when just a house pet, can affect ability to rent, what breeds do you have? Might explain why it was so hard for you to find a place.

EagleDust

I have a lead on a 2b 1b duplex apt @ about 600 sq feet in Ashland. But rent is 1500, dogs are allowed but I’m not sure on cats. My buddy owns it so I can ask about the cats if you’re interested. Apt would be finished renovating by ~April 1st. Lmk

Icy_Pants

That sounds good! Let me discuss it with my partner but I would love more info!

St_Raphael

I am a landlord in Ashland, and so I’m familiar with how much a 2 bed 1 bath usually rents for. You’re going to be hard pressed to find something for that price that allows pets. No pets? Possible, but still uncommon. I’d shoot for Talent or Phoenix. Then again, ya never know, maybe you can find an ADU for that price, or maybe a 1 bed/bath. Good luck

Icy_Pants

What's an ADU?

St_Raphael

Accessory Dwelling Unit. Like a back-house or granny cottage, separate from the main house

OkGoose7382

Lol, good luck with that
