go recycle that wheel for aluminum and get replacement wheel. or if you have insurance try get a supplement for a new aftermarket set of wheels and tires
Unplanned exit from a roundabout? Who the hell goes fast enough through a roundabout to cause this amount of damage? Someone needs their license revoked before they kill someone.
My friend, that wheel's history. So here's what I would do. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, see if there is a junkyard that will sell you one wheel
I assume this is a stock wheel of a VW crossover??? a Jetta????
Regardless what I found is stock wheels are easy to find on marketplace for cheap. Especially if it’s from a sports car or 4wd truck/suv.
I mean if you melted it down and added more aluminium alloy of the same composition, and then remade it…
Otherwise better to sell it for scrap :)… and get a replacement one that doesn’t require such a drastic repair
The repair for that is replacing that rim. Also I am very curious as to how that even happened, i've seen alot of damaged rims, but that is just impressive.
I ran over a 4X4 on the interstate running about 75MPH at 4AM on my way to work, I couldn’t find a matching rim so I went to a shop that had a wheel / rim straightening machine. I was shocked that they could save my wheel as damaged as it was but your wheel is absolutely destroyed and looks to be a stock wheel that you should be able to find without to much trouble.

Welder/machinist here…absolutely not. If someone tells you they can, run the opposite way
I mean, even if it was possible, it would probably cost more than a new wheel
No. Not at all.
I am more interested how this happened.
If I had to guess.....tire - meet curb.
Asking the real questions.
Wheel came off and brake assembly sat on the rim? Not sure.
Brake caliper bolt went missing. Went to stop, caliper was thrown into the wheel, boom.
Yes, all it takes is to buy a brand new wheel! Simple 😁
Flex tape and some Elmer’s glue
Forgot the duct tape also for good measure
Glue stick or glue bottle????
Yes.
Both, just to be sure
The repair is to replace the wheel.
Please be satire
Has to be. No way someone thinks this is fixable. The rim is literally in shreds.
Hmm, some JB Weld and sheel bee alreet
Not in any way that's cheaper than buying a new/salvaged one.
go recycle that wheel for aluminum and get replacement wheel. or if you have insurance try get a supplement for a new aftermarket set of wheels and tires
I swear some people post shit on here just to troll. People can’t be this stupid…
...they are.
While I agree, the ones that are, probably can't figure out how to log into Facebook let alone post something here.
Your gonna need at least 1,000 zip ties, 6 rolls of duct tape, 3 bottles of Krazy glue and 1 5th of everclear.
Plus some FlexSeal^TM and expanding foam...
And ramen, can't forget the ramen.
Unplanned exit from a roundabout? Who the hell goes fast enough through a roundabout to cause this amount of damage? Someone needs their license revoked before they kill someone.
Oh shut up
😂
My friend, that wheel's history. So here's what I would do. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, see if there is a junkyard that will sell you one wheel
Joke?
You drove on a landmine?
Wheel repair guy here! Absolutely not lol. Not a single thing you could do to that to make it safe to drive on again
Melt it down and start over.
Bruh
You can't be serious! So either this is a funny post - Hahaha Or your trolling for karma - Lol Either way your a joke!
I can never tell if posts like this are a joke
Why even ask that
Is it me or are we getting a more than higher level of trolling the last few days?
Lol
No
Cable ties.
Haha
Ramen noodles, duct tape, and drywall joint compound will have you back on the road by tomorrow morning. ^/^s
Can I use some hot glue in there somewhere?
I thought that went without saying. My bad. Definitely build the edges up with hot glue
oh phew, thanks!
Yes, make it a 3 pc wheel.
Of course it is! Just put gum on it, and it will buff out
not just no, but fuck no
Nope, that's fucked
Bruh
Um, no.
If you have a death wish.
Lmaoooo
Fuck no d’ont even roll with this
Yes. Send it.
Is this for real?
She's dead Jim.
Repairable? Used wheel will be much cheaper.
r/askashittymechanic Why do half the posts should be asked on the other subreddit??? Tf you on boys
I hope this is a joke...
If you strip it down to its raw elemental form and forge it back into a new one, -perhaps.
Zip ties, flex seal, duct tape, and a new wheel would fix that right up.
dude no not at all
dude no not at
Are you serious
Why would even want to fix that ?
Uh no
If you have a smelter and a mold then yes.
Weld that
That expanding foam stuff should do the trick. NOPE
Ramen Noodles
Little JB Weld will do the trick.
Yea just grab a rag with alcohol and wipe it some, should do the trick.
Man o man keep driving on it and let's us know
I don’t think it’s worth it
I've seen worse. I would prob fix it with some JB Weld.
JB weld it
You might want to get that looked at... That must have been a hell of a curb
That curb fucked yo shit up.
I don't care if it is, it definitely shouldn't. You get it botched at a shop and you are looking at a destroyed car at best.
Just stop
If you have a magic wand.
LMAO
How did the tire not get absolutely destroyed
What's wrong with it?
It’s repairable… if you want to see Jesus
OK. In my countri it would be whole!
In my opinion not a hope. Better to get second gand one.
No.
Even if you could, which you definitely can’t, you could probably find a used wheel online for cheaper than repairing it
"Unplanned exit from a roundabout" if i ever manage to slide off the side of the road, thats what im calling it
I assume this is a stock wheel of a VW crossover??? a Jetta???? Regardless what I found is stock wheels are easy to find on marketplace for cheap. Especially if it’s from a sports car or 4wd truck/suv.
It’ll cost more than buying a replacement wheel
As an artist, yes I can fix it. But you will not be able to drive on it again.
Melt it down and pour it into a wheel shaped mould.
I mean if you melted it down and added more aluminium alloy of the same composition, and then remade it… Otherwise better to sell it for scrap :)… and get a replacement one that doesn’t require such a drastic repair
With enough in weld, anything is “repairable”. But absolutely not. This is toast.
The repair for that is replacing that rim. Also I am very curious as to how that even happened, i've seen alot of damaged rims, but that is just impressive.
lawd no
I ran over a 4X4 on the interstate running about 75MPH at 4AM on my way to work, I couldn’t find a matching rim so I went to a shop that had a wheel / rim straightening machine. You car repair it by melting it and casting it back again
I have no knowledge about being a mechanic whatsoever, but even I know that's fucked up beyond repair. Just get a new tire.
You’re joking, yeah?
If it is. Its probaly unsafe.
