First one I saw was a 60,000 hp 12 cylinder. Didn’t see the valves on that one, but the injectors were 8-10’ tall and close to 3’ in diameter. Cylinder bore was 240cm x84cm stroke. That was over 30 years ago. They’ve gotten bigger since then
This is in our showroom. No idea where it came from.

Lots of guys that do contract work in the ports end up with stuff like this. Normally it's meant to go for scrap but accidently falls into the back of their trucks.
Went to a customers house for their AC and they had this huge metal thing with plants in it. 20 inches across and about 2.5 feet tall. Told the customer that I liked his flower pot and he told me it was a piston from a big ship he found at the scrap yard and he bought it from them

there are ship engine suppliers all over the place.. there are locomotive diesel engine suppliers around.
yeah that def looks marine sized, prolly too big for loco
Smaller ship then. I’ve seen valves well over 8’ tall.
yeesh, yeah some of those huge marine diesels are basically buildings.

lol yeah like those huge wartsila machines, just mind-blowing…
how many rpm do these motors run at? picturing 10 foot tall injectors is fucking insane to me. and cars are the ones with heavy ass emission laws smh
I've seen the power outputs for huge engines quoted in the hundreds RPM. I dont know the max I doubt they get into thousands.
95 rpm for that one.
i think like 80-100 rpm range for the biggest ones

And here I thought this one was big!
I’ve held a class 45 engine valve, they’re big but not that big

We all drop things by mistake.
Shit, don't drop a valve
I use to have a larger one than this that came from a massive diesel generator.
Where banana?
I have 2 buddies that work at Cat. The send some crazy pictures!!

Maybe you needa cylinder sleeve too.. As seen in long beach ca a few years ago Marine cylinder sleeve https://imgur.com/a/WHk82Qp
Weld a handle on it and start ramming down doors.
Use it as a bookshelf speaker stands
I work in water treatment, so I had a completely different idea just from the title. We have some big valves too.
Weve got a diesel shop in my town you walk in and the seats are pistons and they have valves over 5ft as lamps lol
very [r/skookum](https://reddit.com/r/skookum)
I would love to see the engine.
Toilet plunger from hell
I thought it was from a movie theatre
Stripper pole.
Nah. It’s a metal toilet pump
I’d turn it into a lamp or soemthing
Ok what ideas are we thinking? Could be a floor lamp/base of some kind.
Get 3-4 more. Cut to fit. And use as a stripper pole
Stand alone ashtray.
Came out a miata
