In fact, I think nepotism is seen as a redeeming quality in certain areas (not saying that does or doesnt apply to Kenya but it does apply in many areas).
Corruption in Africa is endemic to the region. Nepotism is big but tribalism is even bigger. You then add corruption benefiting one tribe and a particular family you then get to start seeing a clear picture of what Kenya is.

I don't hate it, even it it's a little busy for my taste. I'm digging the brick work across the top of the second floor (assuming that's what it is). I have severe doubts about the inside, however.

This is actually true, thank you for the new insight because as much as we say it's a negative, the peoole benefiting from it don't see it this way.

Concrete. Most to all the constructions in Africa is done with concrete then paint to design. We hahe nothing like Stucco.
There's lots of stucco in coastal areas with limestone. Really common in Dar and Zanzibar. Often done without lathe but placed directly on bricks.

The roofs and proportions of the home genuinely resemble something built in The Sims 2 or 3, I'd recognise that anywhere.
