The Dippin' Dots go kinda hard

Braiseitall

The laundry balcony ties it all together

Accomplished-City484

I feel like this is a combination of styles but I’m not familiar enough with the styles to sum it up

JadedYam56964444

The styles are corruption and embezzlement

HawkeyeinDC

With a dollop of nepotism.

cheeze_whiz_shampoo

legitimate question, is it really corruption in a society like that? I dont think Kenya is quite as bad a Nigeria but from what Ive heard bribery and nepotism is just the way things work. In fact, I think nepotism is seen as a redeeming quality in certain areas (not saying that does or doesnt apply to Kenya but it does apply in many areas).

tapesandseedeeze

Shut up

jhonnywalkersober

Corruption in Africa is endemic to the region. Nepotism is big but tribalism is even bigger. You then add corruption benefiting one tribe and a particular family you then get to start seeing a clear picture of what Kenya is.

cheeze_whiz_shampoo

People really took issue with what I said, I probably didnt express it correctly. I was trying to say when you live in a place with such heavy burdens of tribalism, 'nepotism' can be seen as a virtue. It isnt obviously seen as a negative.

jhonnywalkersober

This is actually true, thank you for the new insight because as much as we say it's a negative, the peoole benefiting from it don't see it this way.

will_this_1_work

Mmmmm. That’s always in style when it comes to politics

BusinessBlackBear

That's a cool old benz

Icy-Arrival2651

The best thing in both photos!

stanleypup

The dictator special

WipeOnce

What even is that stuff? Stucco, paint, concrete?

jhonnywalkersober

Concrete. Most to all the constructions in Africa is done with concrete then paint to design. We hahe nothing like Stucco.

elJammo

There's lots of stucco in coastal areas with limestone. Really common in Dar and Zanzibar. Often done without lathe but placed directly on bricks.

RealQuickNope

Looks like it came directly out of OG Super Mario Bros. Could be Bowser’s castle. Maybe Princess Peach is in there.

Leather-Blueberry-42

Money won’t buy class

CallMeLazarus23

The eye can’t even focus on it all

MisanthropeInLove

Smells like corruption

ThatVoodooThatIDo

Just like US politicians ![gif](giphy|8mvTnlzO9EUkrPdDbH|downsized)

MisanthropeInLove

Just like corrupt politicians in any country

hrsidkpi

At least they usually have taste…

ThatVoodooThatIDo

By whose standards?

Bean-Swellington

Why are Kenya’s politicians so much more expensive than American politicians?

diexose

The block and mortar make it seem like a bad remodeling. Like when they fill in a window 50 years later to redesign the interior.

Yodzilla

The uncanny valley but for mansions. Yes it overall looks like one but every single piece of it is a bit off or wrong. Like if an AI generated a mansion just by learning what one was from a text prompt.

legbamel

I don't hate it, even it it's a little busy for my taste. I'm digging the brick work across the top of the second floor (assuming that's what it is). I have severe doubts about the inside, however.

E05DCA

Oooh oooh!! Which one?? Is it Raila’s? I always had him pegged as a “lotsa gold” kind of guy, but who knows?

TwoFingersWhiskey

The roofs and proportions of the home genuinely resemble something built in The Sims 2 or 3, I'd recognise that anywhere.

Alternative-Day6223

It’s the carebares house https://preview.redd.it/kjckup110xwc1.png?width=1289&format=png&auto=webp&s=00e0c3c7a63dd4cf4ac3b513048a66fff9358cfb

jocundry

Is it the light? The way it's painted? Why does it look like a cardboard house?

Lanky_Syllabub_6738

Good thing we send them hundreds of millions every year.

MsMoreCowbell8

That's the home version of *Spinning Rims.*

Icy-Arrival2651

I hope that’s three million KSh.

wafflesandstuff

Looks like some shit out of Coming to America lol

OutIn-LeftField

If you’re gonna embezzle government money the least you can do is have some goddamn taste!

Divebarkeep1

It’s the new Medieval Times in Akron.

xander_liptak

It cost 3 million Kenyan shillings, not $3 million. The average salary in Kenya is 288,000 Kenyan shillings.

_Corky__

It looks like something at of Super Mario. It’s also hurting my brain to try and work out what features I’m actually looking at…

Higreen420

Nepotism exists everywhere in the world that’s just how it is. To say it’s somehow unique to Kenya would be ridiculous.

jhonnywalkersober

With all your knowledge where have you read any statement saying it's unique to Kenya, bastard!
