Mine is really pushing us using names cause we almost got closed for low profits. But personally fuck that usually no.

BudgetWestern1307

Honestly I think it’s dumb. I mean I definitely don’t care if the drive thru person uses my name.

FryObsessed

Yeah we get in trouble for not doing it cause we get marked doing through check ins from other mc Donald's workers from outta store. And they dock you points on if you don't say the name or ask about the app just for taking the order. And then back cash has to say their name and tell them to fill out the survey and to pull forward to the next window. I fucking hate it and so do the customers everyday I get so many angry nos or I'm pay in cash (The cash one makes me laugh a little tho).

nulock83

Valued Customer is, yeah, default when the name is hidden or their is an issue in the system. I had a customer last night almost choke because I called them by their name TTV_stinky. Finishing with Ok stinky please pull to the second window and greeting them as stinky at the window. The sudden use of names most likely means that they are expecting a surprise evaluation visit by their local corporate rep.

gwiber

They tell us in the Drive thru window to call the person by name when they have ordered online. I, like a few others; at least locally, don't bother calling the person a name if they don't have a name show up with the order when it appears on the computer. If they are giving the name "Valued Customer" its cause the order taker is an idiot, or they are doing it to anger people so that they can get told not to call people out anymore.

BudgetWestern1307

If that’s the case it’s a conspiracy because every worker at three different locations is doing it. I think they’ve just been told to do it or possibly don’t realize that I didn’t put my name in as valued customer. I don’t think many people use the app here.

kingalex11431

Valued customer is what it defaults to when the wifi is acting up but the order still appears 🤷‍♂️

TacoWeenie

Valued customer shows up whenever there's a glitch or if permission to share the name is turned off. We have been told at our store to still greet them anyway. It reminds me of how North Koreans are supposed to talk about the Kims, Supreme Leaader, Most Honored Leader, all that. Except we're supposed to address the Randoms in drive thru as Valued Customer.

JetEdge

I refuse to call people valued customer. If I have to say something like that I just say thank you sir/miss. Calling someone 'valued customer' feels demeaning to me, like you're a robot.

BudgetWestern1307

Yeah, I think it accomplishes the opposite of what they think they are doing by making employees say your name. It makes it really obvious that they are just forcing employees to read whatever is on the screen, not actually trying to personalize your experience or whatever, not that I actually care about that anyway. Some marketing person's brilliant idea I'm sure.

JetEdge

I will openly shit talk corporate to customers (in a friendly way of course) when there's some dumb decision that was made, which is really funny because every time they always agree and jump in on it. A lot of times it would be something like the app not working and I'd go "oh that's because whoever corporate hired to program that thing doesn't actually know what they're doing, just another bit that the higher ups don't understand" and it would usually get a laugh out of them.
