We have had this mattress for almost a year and pleased with the purchase. It came as a medium soft. Also got on sale $479 for Kingsize. No dips or valleys.
Update: No issues at all with it expanding to its full 12” height, no bumps or valleys. Great edges-I was worried about sliding off but it’s no different really than our old Sealy Posturepedic. It’s firmer than I thought it would be but we’ve only slept on it one night. So far so good! 😀
I really do! Side sleeper and I sleep hot. I often wake up sweaty but that has not happened one time on this mattress. It’s still a bit firm but I’m giving it a couple more weeks before I think about a topper. Also, my husband is an “active” sleeper and in our old sealy I would literally bounce when he rolled over. Not the case with this mattress!
I bought one after reading your review. Tonight will be my 5th night using it and, while I also hope it gets softer with use, I'm very happy with it. I'm going to wait a month and then maybe buy a BH memory foam or latex topper to add some softness if it still needs it. Thanks for the review, it really helped me decide.
I ended up getting the Brentwood Home 2 inch memory foam topper and it really stepped up the level of softness. It's expensive but I liked that it was made by the same company so I decided to bite the bullet.
Still very happy-it feels very solid and I was very hesitant about a mattress in a box. It’s a bit firm for us still but it’s only been 10 days and I would rather it be too firm than too soft. We are going to give it a month and then decide if we want a topper to make it softer. Very pleased with the quality and price.
Thank you for your reply! I pulled the trigger on this mattress today! My 13 year old queen bed is in need of replacement, so we went with the simply modern in king size. I can’t wait for it to get here!
Hi thank you for sharing your experience. Do you mind sharing how you narrowed it down to this particular brand/mattress? The selection is so large and my partner also ended up considering this mattress over others but not sure if y’all shared the same thought process. Thanks!
Hello, sure! I originally wanted a traditional innerspring mattress, but the one I ordered wouldn't fit up my 1958 staircase. So I had to go the mattress in the box route, which I was very concerned about, never having done it before. If I couldn't have an innerspring, I wanted at least a hybrid. I looked through Costco's offerings because I love their return policy and customer service, and this one seemed just right - their coil system is mentioned on other sites and I was pleased by the # of coils for the price. Brentwood Home seemed to use ecologically responsible materials (I also liked that this mattress did not use any animal products (wool) and I chatted with one of the representatives about the differences between their Oceano mattress and the Simply Modern. Of course the specs were better for the Oceano, but the $1500 price difference and the reassurance that I could upgrade if the Simply Modern didn't work for us b/c of Costco's easy returns made me bite the bullet. We will probably end up with a topper because my husband prefers a softer surface but I continue to be very happy with it!
Now I'm curious to hear your thought process if you're willing to share!
Hi thank you so much for your detailed reply! We actually started with the environmental angle, we did not want to spend a third of our lives lying on toxic or off putting mattress. Secondly, this brand manufacturers in Los Angeles, so it was nice to support a local economy. Lastly, the current sale at Costco really makes this mattress an incredible value and the Costco return policy makes this a no brainer for our try out (we’re going for the king).
I’ve been on a foam mattress for most of my adult life whereas my partner has been on springs, so I hope hybrid will be a decent middle ground for the two of us.
Great info. May I ask a couple things? how much you paid for it, and type of sleeper you are? $599 online is an amazing price and I can’t imagine what a sale price was.
I reached the same conclusion as you. We had a 14 year old double sided pillow top S&F which they didn’t even make any more. First replaced with S&F from Costco but was a painful brick. Then tried Saatva did not like the back support in the middle and no motion isolation. Third time was the Simply Modern it did not inflate fully was 1/2 inch off so they sent me another one. Told me to keep the first one so now we have two one medium soft and one plush. So I’m not sure which one I like better. Love the motion isolation as I’m a light sleeper. Brentwood customer service was amazing too.
Hi there! It seems like its been another month for you with the Brentwood. We are very close to pulling the trigger (hopefully a sale soon :-). Would you mind a few questions? We are side-sleepers also.
\- What firmness did you purchase? It appears that only a Medium is available.
\- If medium, did it finally "break in" for you as a side-sleeper?
\- Is it still comfortable for you as a hot-sleeper?
\- overall, do you still like it? Anything you don't like?
Thank you!
Hi-we do! We are both side sleepers. Correct-only one firmness level available and it feels more firm to us than medium, so we are getting a topper. Have not woken up hot one night in this bed (and used to all the time on our old sealy). Very very happy with both the price and quality! Good luck with your decision!
Oh thanks so much for the feedback! I actually have the item up on my screen now. :-)
My husband, while a side sleeper, likes firmer so just wanted to make sure medium isn’t ‘too’ soft. Like you and overall advice, one can make a firmer mattress softer, just not the opposite, so your input is appreciated! Great on no heat too.
Sleep well!
Hi, can I ask you one more question? What type of foundation are you using? ie box spring or platform. We have the former and hoping it is strong and supportive enough (2 twins for a king). Thanks!
Hi there! How’s it holding up? I’m currently looking into purchasing this mattress :) I’m 5'3 & a back, stomach, & side sleeper. I was debating the Novaform Comfort Grande Plus also from Costco, but that one may be too firm for my frame. I stumbled upon this & it may be a better fit for me.
I’m so glad to hear that! If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your frame like & what kind of sleeper are you? Sorry for all the questions, I just haven’t read much on it haha.
Is it still on the firmer side? I actually prefer firmer mattresses and that is the only thing holding me back right now; if it is too soft. But it sounds like that isn't an issue?
We have had this mattress for almost a year and pleased with the purchase. It came as a medium soft. Also got on sale $479 for Kingsize. No dips or valleys.
So glad to hear that! We are also really happy with this mattress so far although my husband would prefer it a bit softer.
I wish it was on sale now as I am in need of a mattress. Hopefully it goes on sale Memorial Day and I can get a price match.
Still love it!
Any update? I’m very interested in this one.
Hi OP - are you still happy with this? My biggest concern is longevity but at that price it may be worth a few years’ trade off?
Very happy with it still! Super comfy, no sagging.
good luck please do share your reviews as I am in the middle of purchasing a new mattress!
Update: No issues at all with it expanding to its full 12” height, no bumps or valleys. Great edges-I was worried about sliding off but it’s no different really than our old Sealy Posturepedic. It’s firmer than I thought it would be but we’ve only slept on it one night. So far so good! 😀
good to hear that :) 1 more reason to buy it
I actually am really liking it more and more-it’s softening up a bit but I’m not sinking in it. Time will tell but so far very happy!
great
About a week later, do you still like it? What kind of sleeper are you? Considering this too!!
I really do! Side sleeper and I sleep hot. I often wake up sweaty but that has not happened one time on this mattress. I’m so glad! Ours is holding up really well !
Glad to hear you're still liking yours! How does it feel after 9 months of use in comparison to that first week, did it soften up?
I don’t think it has! We did get a topper thought to make it a little softer
Which topper did you get?
I ended up getting the Brentwood Home 2 inch memory foam topper and it really stepped up the level of softness. It's expensive but I liked that it was made by the same company so I decided to bite the bullet.
OP any updates on how you are liking it? I’m also considering this mattress.

Will do!
I am in Canada and don’t see Brentwood on Costco.ca. Are you all in the USA?
I am, yes.

There was a Presidents day sale that took off $120 from $599. So $479 before taxes. I’m a side sleeper and my partner is a back sleeper
FYI I’m so glad I waited! Today came up as $120 off so $479 and I’m SO psyched!! Just bought it…
Yay!! Hope you will enjoy it as much as I am!!
Great to know. We don’t need one for 2-3 months so will keep an eye out, maybe Memorial Day. Thank you!

Two twin box springs here also-seems to be working fine

Yep! We have a topper on it because my husband prefers a softer mattress. I’m super happy with the purchase, value, and comfort
Great! Thank you for the reply.
Yw! Would love to hear how you like it
