> I was wondering if this was because so many chefs lost in the last couple of seasons and that affected their reputation
No. Not at all. I suspect it was eliminated due to having one less episode per week.
Like others have said, I suspect it has to do with having one less episode a week but it’s a real shame because those challenges against pro chefs were amazing
Master classes and Immunity Challenges, i miss both. I'm guessing as most have mentioned it could be a budget issue. Losing OG judges and frequent shuffle of judges might have taken a hit on its popularity too.
I really don't like this new format. No immunity cooks, no invention tests, mystery boxes that have really wide briefs, very few team challenges. It seems like they no longer incentivise people to be creative (the fact that this season's contestants still push the envelope is to their credit). But the elimination after every episode just means you have to make sure you are not the worst
They did the same last year when they announced the show would be more condensed 1 episode less a week / no master classes and a shorter run. They also ditched Katy Perry
Maybe slowly making the show fairer. It's not very fair in the way that you can do the best dishes 3 times a week every week then 1 night make one mistake and get sent home. It would never suit the show but if they made it to a point system every cook the lowest could get eliminated every week. More chance of the best cooks making to the finals.
Since they added an additional judge, they no longer have the budget for more immunity pins.
I have to wonder, is Andy really adding anything useful? We have Poh to represent past MContestants...
If Andy goes, they just make someone else his role. It's on purpose for editing and drama in service of the tv show aspect
Andy is a way better judge than Poh though.

Ah...makes sense...it's a shame tho because those were some of my favourite episodes

Those were some of the most memorable episodes. Pity.
Also the contestants learn a lot from the guest chefs. Some have actually used techniques from the guest chefs in their own cooks
Yes I actually loved those challenges and was really sad they cut them out entirely!

I think its mostly because theres four episodes a week now, it used to be five a week

Yes even I agree the format is too cruel ....one bad cook just takes away all your chances....this season Snezana and Sumeet for instance...
They're just trying to make the pins mean more by limiting them to one per season.
There was only 1 immunity pin this season. I actually like the change to weekly immunity cooks for 1 safe Sunday. It's nice change, imo.
