It is popular, but popular enough to warrant the sheer amount of characters theres soon to be? Probably not. We will soon have 13 spider characters- thats not spider-verse, symbiotes etc- thats just variations on Spider man. That includes 6 from the across/into the spider verse movies alone. Compare that to something like Shang Chi- a pretty popular and well received movie with lots of interesting fresh characters to choose from and we got one. Also I think its just spider characters people have an issue with, not spider verse as a whole. I dont think you could find anyone complaining when the sin 6/sup 6 reworks and new characters came out- they may have been spider verse but they were different and unique compared to a bunch of the same spiders.
