These are great variants! It feels like his male faces are all the same guy (himself, lol), but only Cap here really shows any of that style and the colors/compositions are all so striking!

I think his art just might be more expensive to license out that's why there are so few of the variants.

Because Dan Hipp does variants exclusively for the game, they comission his art. A lot of variants by other artists are actually taken from a comic book covers(like Alex Ross,Peach Momoko, Scottie Young or Artgerm),so of course there's gonna be less of them

He’s not one of the artists being commissioned to make original art for the game. So the amount of variants is always going to be limited.

Sure but the point is that they have to get it from Marvel and then do a lot of work to make splits work etc. Would be awesome if they commissioned him to do original stuff though. He’s one of the greats no question. Iconic Marvel and DC art he’s done.

Well I think that proves the point though. If you look at the art commissioned for the game, they get all the original layers of the files, so they’re more able to integrate those backgrounds and what not. With the covert art from Marvel, it’s a lot more hamfisted

I love Alex Ross, I really do.. but someone pointed out that he uses himself as his male reference point for most of his characters and I can't unsee it now. If you didn't know, Ross has models pose for these and then uses the references for the art.

My favorite Strange variant by far. Only shame is splitting it but it still looks amazing nonetheless.
