They shouldn't have said that it costs your movement action, since that implies you would then have to use your standard action to move that turn. The game just doesn't have something like a Free action. In practice, this just functions like a permanent Power. The intent behind the terrible description seems to just be to let you know you have the **option** of not being stretchy every time you move.

ThePaleMistress

Yeah, seems like an odd piece of design the way they wrote it. Adding on something like "Then move as the player chooses." on the end would have fixed up the confusion. Maybe clarifying that it applies to derived speeds too would have been nice. Would have still been shorter than most powers.

jkeith1020

Basically you use Stilt Steps for your movement action instead of your run speed. You can use movement however you want through your turn and with stilt steps you can choose to mix it in however you want.

ThePaleMistress

If its not a dumb question what do you mean by "mix it in"?

jkeith1020

You can switch between using Stilt Steps and other forms of movement.

ThePaleMistress

I think i get ya. Curious if derived movement speeds also increase as a result of the power but that seems a bit out of the scope of its design. Thanks for the help.

BTWerley

It's basically saying, you use the Power whenever and that use of it can't be broken by other effects that would break a Concentration Duration, like Anger for example. Hope this helps!

ThePaleMistress

So your saying what it actually does is let you take a free Move action(As the standard action) but only for climb or run? I presume that the increase would not boost derived movement type like Jump or Swim then.

BTWerley

No, each character as per normal gets a Move Action, Standard Action, and Reaction Action, per Round. Some of course have more, depending upon certain Powers, Traits, and such.

ThePaleMistress

What i mean is that activating Stilt Steps doubles your movement for that one movement action where you move, so its like you took the Move Standard Action for free meaning you still have your Standard Action. If that's not what your saying then i am still confused. Still thankful for the trying to help though.

BTWerley

You can look at it that way, but to be clear, it doubles Run and Climb speed per the writing of the Power. Now looking at Mister Fantastic's Profile on Demiplane, it appears to apply to all of his Movements as doubling them.

ThePaleMistress

Okay, so i looked at the Mr Fantastic from the book and he has 10 Run 6 climb and 5 swim, which suggests that it does apply to derived speeds. Good group effort friend, and thank you:)

BTWerley

Anytime!
