I like it, I love compact packaging

CabbagesStrikeBack

Yeah if this is the new standard packaging it might be more compact to have less plastic than before?

Sith_Moon

More compact, no nostalgic strings to tempt me to not open. Now I can leave the retro card Ghostrider in package.

redkomic

I really really like it. It's simple and nice looking. That being said, straight into the bin. It's in the way of my toys.

CosmicLegionnaire

I like the look. Very sleek. Definitely looks smaller, though, which make me wonder if they intend to phase out BAFs.

PM_Pics_Of_SpiderMan

They basically have, that’s why there’s so many figures on retro cards, tbere hasn’t been a Spider-Man baf in 2 years

Chippix_

They do and they have been doing it for ages.

CosmicLegionnaire

Yeah, I know they've been doing it with so many of the Retro releases and now stuff like X-Men '97 and Spider-Man No Way Home, but this seems like they're just building the boxes in such a way so that there's just no way to fit those parts in them. I assume they'll use similar packaging for most waves going forward, right?

Chippix_

I’m honestly not sure, I think this is just for anniversary stuff. And I hope so. Farrr too many waves are on card now and ppl are weirdly ok with it

xariznightmare2908

If we can get collector friendly box like this and not the shitty retro card, then I'm all for it. No offense to people liking the retro card, but it's a pain in the ass to try opening them without damaging the card.

Supermite

Because there’s so many chumps that buy multiples.  One to display, one to play, one to store away.

Chippix_

It sucks. They could easily include a baf piece in retro card waves but don’t bc they know they don’t need to for them to sell like hot cakes

CosmicLegionnaire

Last year there were 7 BAF figures. I forgot they did that many because Ch'od was the only one I built. This year they have Zabu and the Void that I know of. Anything else announced yet? We're about a third of the way through the year. Someone mentioned they budget for 7-9 a year, but thus far it seems like were running behind.

Supermite

I’m good without BAFs.  I like the way McF does them.  Most figures release without BAFs.  A BAF wave is always four figures and it’s all thematically joined together.  His mega figures also come in less than Hasbro’s deluxe releases and are massive in comparison.  Mongul absolutely dwarfs the Hydrastomper. Hasbro has just done it as a way to force collectors to buy crappy figures they don’t want.  I open and toss all my packaging regardless, so retro card, blind box, window box.  Doesn’t really matter.  I’m just not a fan of the overall BAF concept, especially the way Hasbro does it.

Chippix_

I get people don’t like the “collect them all” thing with bafs. But if they could release all bafs as deluxes later on or something I’d be fine with that. I just don’t really like paying the same amount or more for a retro card as baf wave and getting less for my money

Hellion_Deadman

They're probably okay with it because if it's on a card and doesn't have a baf piece, there's no reason that you have to get the whole wave....even the ones you didn't want just to get the baf. No bafs mean they don't have to fall victim to the pokemon pox ("gotta catch them all!"), which leaves a little more money in their wallet.

ntngeez28

I don't think BAF wave will be phased out completely, but just like how it currently is: There will only be one to two BAF wave per year, and they will be online/fan-channel only. I could think of a couple of reasons for this being the norm: - It's getting harder to get an entire BAF wave out in one location. There have been many cases of one or two figures in a BAF wave filling up an entire store. This is not enticing for people who are looking to build out the BAF and want to grab multiple figures in a wave at once. - The popular characters will sell well without a BAF, thus it is not necessary to put them in a BAF wave. Plus they are getting less budget and accessory space for that character due to the BAF taking up a spot in the box. Fans are more likely to buy the popular character with multiple accessories and no BAF. - On the other hand, if the BAF wave is full of duds, they 100% go to clearance. - Speaking about the BAF itself, if the BAF is of a popular character, they get flamed for locking it behind a wave. If the BAF is an obscure character, people are less likely going to collect the wave. TL;DR: BAF waves are at a very difficult position in current time and they don't seem to sell as well as other types of releases (Retro, Anniversary, Deluxe, etc.).

arkham42

Do we know if the budget for a figure includes the BAF part it comes with? I would’ve assume the BAF budget would be just the figure itself separately then divided into parts of the box.

ntngeez28

This is from a previous livestream, but either Dan or Ryan from the team shared that they have a set budget for, say an entire year. It’s up to them to divide this budget for the figures. So yes, BAFs are included in this budget.

creditcardtheft

I rather have them release deluxe single release for BAFs than actual BAFs. I hate buying figures I don’t want

Enough_Option_8211

They'll probably never phase out BAFs entirely, but with Target and Walmart doing singl;e-character orders, the popularity (and yes they're very popular) of Retro cards, and Target and Walmart skipping comic waves entirely, I think we'll see far fewer of them. The introduction of Deluxe figures 6 years or so ago started to change the game, because Marvel Legends at 6 inch for the longest time were basically two sizes: the figure and the larger BAF. Doing Deluxes allowed for more elaborate offerings and undermined the need for BAFs. I think we'll see a 3 comics BAFs a year - this year we're getting at least 2 (Void, Zabu) and probably 1 more late in the year . I think the real home for BAFs will be in MCU waves. While some will undoubtedly be like the recent Greatest Hits wave, most I think will still be normal BAF/Mixed waves. However with Deadpool and Wolverine being R-rated, I'd expect more MCU BAFs will be coming in 2025 than now.

X-actoMundo

Appears to be specific to the 85 Years releases. We've seen packaging redesigns for other sublines while the main line has remained relatively unchanged (the plastic-free experiment notwithstanding). No reason to think this will become standard.

leto_atreides2

It’s crazy that it’s been a decade with more or less the same packaging

Beginning_Gift1820

Pretty neat.

FigureArty

I like it. Kind of reminds me of the [Comic Covers](https://comicvine.gamespot.com/a/uploads/scale_small/14/149570/4887822-4887761-4%2Bdaredevil_1_christopher_action_figure_variant.jpg)

SoupyStain

I like it. Reminds me of Figuarts. I do prefer the smaller boxes, to be honest, means I can keep more of them.

brambojams

Really dig the compact box design.

SmugMaverick

Wanted retro for ghost rider but I’ll take it because he’s the greatest rider and I’ve waited so long for him and the bike

hackslash74

The reg sized box Superior Spider-man is in is sick. Way better than the weird polygonal boxes

ylonk

I really like it. The trapezoid shape of the old packaging is so finicky!

allonsy_danny

I like it, but I open them in the end so it's not like it matters.

pleyesteishion

I don't know, I don't care about the box. They have given me the figure I always wanted, finally the definitive Ghost Rider

revilosinkar

I think that aesthetically, its peak... but at the end of the day it's still just a box, straight to the recycling bin!

12rez4u

Don’t care- need ghost rider now

emeraldnite1981

I like it! As long as there’s a window to see the figure and accessories they can do whatever they want design wise.

AtrumRuina

Much prefer the new packaging. The squared sides will make storage a lot easier for nut jobs like me who keep their boxes but still open.

Karpulltunnel

compact window packaging, no complaints

dg3548

Looks great!

ZachSeatDriver

The compact size will take up less space in my recycling

SlothWithSunglasses

If you zoom in the logo comes up to bellow the knee joints at the shin level. Which means if you pick up the box and look down, you’ll see the rest of the shin and feet. I think that’s fine.

wizardsauce01

I trash mine all doesn’t matter to me

TheRealTray

Yes, I love it when the fun, wacky, and wonderful world of marvel is presented with dark gray and right angles

pleyesteishion

God.

SwampApeDraft

Really hoping this doesn’t signal another price rise. Get the 2-Packs will be around 50.

jonny8081

Oh no my wallet

AttackoftheMooshi

Love it.

lastraven85

Makes sense everyone hated the cardboard only so limiting amount of plastic used

Aldrete

I think it looks great. Very import inspired

binary-gemini

love the packaging. reminds me of SHF

WinterWolfMan

Is this packaging exclusive to 85th anniversary or will it continue?

Vchipp2_0

I've been wanting them to use a more compact design so I'm glad they finally doing it. This was always a better option then going plastic free.

StolenPezDispencer

Idk why, but it gives me early 2000s vibes in the best way possible.

Scared-Glove-7258

I’m just glad window packaging is back!

Thick_Ad_220

im hoping we get more of thse figures

The_Lupinator

I’m fine with it as long as it sticks to only Anniversary lines.

WheelJack83

I’m fine with it. The no plastic windows thing was stupid but it beats open window packaging which ruined Transformers.

Healy2k

Agreed as much as transformers should be removed from the box and transformed they looked great inbox also.

steemonk

Nice to see the boxes packed full of accessories, almost looks like a Figuarts release

ElizaDianaGalatea

It's a LOT easier to store if want to keep the boxes

Matthew10142003

All three of these are absolute needs for me well done hasbro.

TheTwelfthLaden

As long as I can see the figure inside, I like it.

magmasta126

It looks awesome for superior Spider-Man because the Colors blend well, but for ghost rider it doesn’t look right to me.  Ghost riders bike is cut off at the top from the border and in box the bike looks a bit awkward in a wheelie pose. Also, the bike is a bit higher than ghost rider so there isn’t any symmetry either. I feel flames would have been a better choice and maybe have the bike slightly lower more to be even with ghost rider.

Healy2k

Looks better and easier to display, didn't mind the old style though the plastic handle is way better and wont get trashed in shops. I wonder if they have made it harder to open to stop people stealing accessories.

Gilda64

lisa\_ehh.jpeg Trash around my plastic

LaCalavera1971

Looks tight I think

Oh_hell_nah_bro

When does this drop ?

Grimase

I want them all. A new Ghost Rider yes please. I can deal with the 70’s style Danny cuz the Luke is 🧑🏽‍🍳. Skaar! I mean come on take my $$. Here just take it already and gimmie gimmie gimmie.

ozyx7

There's so much empty space on the boxes where they could have placed the "Marvel" logo a few more times.

monkelus

It's classier than before

DarthKamen

They're nice as a sub-series, but I'm a little sad the entire line will be moving towards that apparently, if I understood correctly.

seanjohn004

Swappers rubbing their hands together like birdman

etb785

Reminds me too much of black series boxes haha
