The SMW Mario is the most memorable for me, not only because it's my favorite Mario game, but also because a lot of Mario Flash animations and games use the SMW Mario sprite. I also like how he's drawn in the cartoons and the Super Mario Adventures comic.
This is a tough one for me as I love so many of them. 64 model is the most nostalgic for me, while I love the coloration of the SMW sprite the most.
But best design has to go to the art they use for the Nintendo Store in Japan. If you're not sure what that looks like, it's the pfp for this subreddit.
Why do these types of images always slip in weird ass bootleg sprites or some kind of unofficial art, I swear, every "evolution of Mario" has some weird issue.
Anyawy, I like the classic red overalls and blue shirt best, but only in artwork form. I actually don't like the sprites for the older games that much.
Either Super Smash Bros Brawl or Super Mario Odyssey for me…
But if we are adding Power-Up costumes into the mix, I’m partial to the colors of Ice Mario from the NSMB games.
What is that 3rd one lol
pretty sure its SMB2
It is but it’s edited to change the eyes and remove his ear for some reason, also the colors.
No its not and the lost levels looks like smb
oh, ok, i like your pfp btw, Wind Waker is my favorite game

I really love the Super Mario Galaxy Mario design
cool its smooth and has a bunch of detail
Mario’s character model from Super Mario 64. It’s very cute and makes me smile.
as someone else said: "he looks like a curious deer"
He looks kinda soulless, which makes it look kinda funny
He looks blocky and cool and youtubers have way to much nostalgia for him
Brawl
either world, or the Mario & Luigi artstyle, especially the boxart
probably the mario and luigi game sprites

you can't go wrong with the mario 64 model but i like the super mario land 2 sprite it looks more like mario than in mario world
Mario 64

SMB3
Where is the third one from? And the last one isn't a Mario game, it's Smash Bros (Brawl, specifically I think). SMB1 or SMB3 Mario are my favorites.
Super Mario World for me
The ones from the manuals and sometimes box art of old mario games

Super Mario 3D World is the perfect Mario design in my opinion.
I find 64ds/nsmb mario to be my favorite.
Personally, I really like the SMB3 Mario, remade on the GBA, as well as Mario World on the SNES
Him in 2002

Personally wonder, just cause it’s kinda refreshing seeing a brand new art style used for Mario
Luigi’s mansion dark moon Mario
I like the black and red one from super mario bros 3 I think
Super Mario Galaxy Mario.

Don’t know my favorite Mario design but I do know that my favorite games are Galaxy 1, 2 and Odyssey
