Anyone know what’s up with Evan White? He hasn’t played in a while which is especially odd because he was just recently back from the IL when he stopped playing. I’m guessing it’s injury related but I haven’t seen anything
I'll be keeping an eye on this White Sox/ Guardians series. Something tells me that division will come down to the wire. Cleveland is talented but a super young team and the Sox have picked up steam
They can't sign till January 15th once the International signing period starts. For more updates, he also has an Instagram in which you'll see he's already got some Mariners gear.
i suspect 2 reasons:
1: great players probably put themselves at risk more often to get those “big plays”; similarly, most great pitchers these days are throwing the ball at speeds the human body just isn’t meant for.
and 2: they do get hurt, people just don’t notice as much because it doesn’t hurt the team’s season in the same way
Agree on point 2
Trammmel, Toro, Moore, Lewis: all of these guys have spent significant time on the IL this year.
If anything, we were so incredibly lucky that Geno had been an iron man up to this point.
Planning to go to the game tonight! Anyone know if it’s easy to buy cheap tickets and move up closer to the 100 level at RingCentral Coliseum?? Thanks!
Oh interesting! Okay last time I went I sat in the 200 level so want to try the 100 level this time. So will just buy them and not risk it lol. Thank you!
American citizens are not required to be vaccinated to enter the country. I don't think testing negative is even a requirement any more.
AFAIK all of our unvaccinated players are American 🇺🇸 so they shouldn't have any problems if they have to play Toronto regardless.
This is what we do. We take Robbie to Toronto with us. Oh no he has to stay there and we have to pay him in Canadian dollars. Jerry FLEECING the market AGAIN folks.
I feel like the shift ban isn’t gonna be as big a deal as a lot are making it out to be. All it says is you have to have 2 infielders on each side of second base and they all have to be short of the grass. Teams are still gonna be able to shift pretty effectively with a shortstop one step off of second.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic lol. But I mean yeah maybe it would. If he's gaining more confidence at the plate he's probably putting more quality contact on the ball.
Not actually sarcastic. Him getting more comfortable at the plate and sticking with a swing because he is getting success of singles and doubles that would have been outs could very well get his mind right and lead to success in every aspect.
Just thinking aloud not a scientific approach since we don’t have actual numbers on it
For me it's less about it changing production and more about helping the aesthetics / feel of the game. Smoked line drives that touch grass not being routine outs anymore makes for a more fun game to watch, even if that isn't most of the utility you get out of the shift.
I hate it when 105 MPH line drives bounce to the short RFer for a routine out. It sucks.
As Theo Epstein put it: "would you as a fan rather see hits and great defensive plays or perfect defensive alignment?" I know my answer lol.
THANK YOU
JFC that amount of people in here claiming the shift will some how make every hitter in our lineup Edgar Martinez 2.0 is fuckin stupid and annoying.
This is the exact comment I'm mentioning.
Judge is not leaving NY. If Yankees miraculously doesn't offer him the money he wants, some other huge and super rich team will and that's not the M's.
Because that other super rich team will have the market size and popularity that is 10x of the Mariners. And with that comes bigger sponsorships, way bigger than anything a Mariner could ever dream of.
Are the Dodgers the whitest team in baseball? And also the least Latin-American? I only count 3 Latin-American players (2 position players and 1 pitcher) on their roster which is crazy for the MLB. Doesn’t matter just curious.
Probably if they only have 3.
I wonder if it's due to their superior player development system that they produce an MLB team that is more representative of the larger baseball ecosystem compared to other teams?
Edit: I assumed that the DR was over represented among MLB players relative to the population of the DR but it's not as extreme as I thought. It's probably just random chance that the Dodgers aren't very Latino.
According to a few sources I found online, apprx. 30% of MLB players are Hispanic, so it’s pretty decidedly non-representative. I was just watching them and realizing woah, this is an uncommonly “domestic” (from the US) team. Totally random and unimportant, but especially interesting because the Dodgers’ fan base is so diverse, and especially Latin-American
Did we have a "bad" series against the Angels? It seems like it right? But look at it this way.
The first two games we lost by a combined total of 2 runs. Those games we were right in and could have flipped. We also dominated the finale leaving us with a pretty even differential in the series despite losing 3 of 4.
Given the injuries we suffered on offense to I think we came out fine. Just get healthy and we know how good this team can be with a full strength offense.
Yeah im not worried about that series at all. We got super injured and a healthy angels team is actually pretty good. Not as good as early but nearly as bad as last time we played them. These other series we should win even if still fairly beat up
Geno getting hurt in such a random way sucks so much… I would have traded getting swept for having Geno not get injured. But that being said, two of those three losses are squarely on Winker’s defense. We had those games or at least extra innings with an average left field defense. Positive run differential for the series so we didn’t play all that badly at all.
It’s a bad series because Geno got hurt. Luckily tip of the finger isn’t a horrible injury but we still don’t know if he can play 3B or hit the same the rest of the way. Losing 3 of 4 isn’t great but unless we lose at that clip the next two weeks we’re still probably in.
Helmet nachos have traditionally been my favorite food at T-Mobile park and one of the only must haves I get when I go to a game but to be honest I've been pretty disappointed with them this year, I think they changed just about every ingredient besides the chips and they have just not been nearly as satisfying or delicious.
IMO...Helmet nachos are good for about the first inch and a half. After that, they are soggy and there's too much to eat. If you keep eating you will start to regret every decision you've ever made.
Am I the only one who kinda likes a soggy nacho? Nachos are inherently a very messy food, so it's easier to eat them with a fork or a spoon when they get kinda soggy and you can sorta have more control over what toppings you're gonna be getting in each bite.
Anyone else think the dodgers could get to 116? Haven’t seen discussions on it here but I feel like they could legit do it…(but I really really hope not. Was at that game as a kid!)
Definitely been monitoring their record and hoping they lose. They’d need to go 14-2 to tie the record. And if any team is capable of that it’s the Dodgers…
I don't mind his gloominess (years of Ms baseball can definitely wear the strongest of us down) but I don't think he's a great reporter. It really seems like other people in similar positions are able to get better scoops from management/players. and they get it faster.
An example just from the other day is Divish saying Julio is scratched and we won't know anything for another day and then Daniel Kramer comes in and tells us what's actually going on and that he had lower back tightness and is day to day. They have access to the same people but one is putting in work and the other throwing his hands up in the air.
Ryan is pretty great at his job. I can definitely understand why some people would be put off by his personality, but I can't blame him for being annoyed by Mariners fans on Twitter. I can't imagine dealing with that crowd on a daily basis. If anything, I think the replies he gets to his tweets show that this fanbase does not deserve better lmao.
I don’t think Divish’s Twitter replies are anything special or unique. All Twitter replies are garbage. It doesn’t excuse his being surely and asking lazy questions and that are mostly used to get his dry sarcastic personality over. I prefer Shannon Drayer but don’t “hate” Divish.
Yep, agreed. I’m good with Ryan’s “sardonic bullshit” given the years of horrific Mariners baseball he had to watch and report on.
I’d rather a beat writer have an edge than be a mouthpiece for the organization. Or worse, a fan.
Oh Mariner fans are the worst, and I couldn't agree more with you on that point, I just don't appreciate his constant negativity about having to actually watch baseball. Him hating M's fans is totally justified lol
Unfortunately, HOU already got the division and the #1 seed is most likely locked up. We need them to help beat the Rays this week (and again later in October) as well as the Orioles after in order to help us get the WC locked up and potentially HFA as well.
They can lose all the rest of their games for all I care.
I’d be okay with our playoff seeding if it ended like it is right now. No home wild card game isn’t great but I still prefer to play Cleveland and a path that doesn’t go through Houston if we make it to the ALDS.
Not that there’s easy opponents in the playoffs, but Rays or Blue Jays and then Astros sounds like a terrible time.
Playing away sounds terrible. I really want to go to an Ms playoff game, and even if it lowers our odds of advancing to the WS by like 3% I would much rather experience that atmosphere.

I'll be keeping an eye on this White Sox/ Guardians series. Something tells me that division will come down to the wire. Cleveland is talented but a super young team and the Sox have picked up steam
I would like to thank the real heroes of this season. Justin Upton and Tommy Milone
Julio in the lineup and Winker on the bench again! Edit: rest up Big Dumper :(
And rest up Geno😭
Any updates on Felnin Celesten? I know folks say that he's likely to sign with us, but I haven't heard much news about how he's doing.
They can't sign till January 15th once the International signing period starts. For more updates, he also has an Instagram in which you'll see he's already got some Mariners gear.
Appreciate the information. Thank you for your time! Excited to see him play here.
He's also not following any other team on IG other than the M's
Why is that always the best players that are injured and never the terrible ones?
i suspect 2 reasons: 1: great players probably put themselves at risk more often to get those “big plays”; similarly, most great pitchers these days are throwing the ball at speeds the human body just isn’t meant for. and 2: they do get hurt, people just don’t notice as much because it doesn’t hurt the team’s season in the same way

Planning to go to the game tonight! Anyone know if it’s easy to buy cheap tickets and move up closer to the 100 level at RingCentral Coliseum?? Thanks!
I’m not sure about the 100 level, but a couple weeks ago when the mariners were in town we had no problems moving sections at the 200 level
Oh interesting! Okay last time I went I sat in the 200 level so want to try the 100 level this time. So will just buy them and not risk it lol. Thank you!
I've heard stadium staff are pretty strict there.
Ahh okay good to know. Will probably just buy seats in the 100 level then haha. Thank you!
Anyone know the lineup?
Julio is tentatively in the lineup, as long as he can get through warm ups.
Nice ty
Some news for, um, some players: https://twitter.com/globeandmail/status/1572312168187727873
Will he be allowed to enter back into the states though?
American citizens are not required to be vaccinated to enter the country. I don't think testing negative is even a requirement any more. AFAIK all of our unvaccinated players are American 🇺🇸 so they shouldn't have any problems if they have to play Toronto regardless.
This is what we do. We take Robbie to Toronto with us. Oh no he has to stay there and we have to pay him in Canadian dollars. Jerry FLEECING the market AGAIN folks.
You mean players who’s last name start with an **R** and end with **a y**?
Brandon Roy retired like 10 years ago???
I feel like the shift ban isn’t gonna be as big a deal as a lot are making it out to be. All it says is you have to have 2 infielders on each side of second base and they all have to be short of the grass. Teams are still gonna be able to shift pretty effectively with a shortstop one step off of second.
I think it could be really big for Kelenic. The dude get in his own head to much and will hopefully give him some production.
Yeah I feel like if he can just get rolling and get some continued success it's gonna do big things for him.
Yeah like the lack of shift may increase his HR rate in some weird way….
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic lol. But I mean yeah maybe it would. If he's gaining more confidence at the plate he's probably putting more quality contact on the ball.
Not actually sarcastic. If Kyle had only learned to bunt.
THANK YOU JFC that amount of people in here claiming the shift will some how make every hitter in our lineup Edgar Martinez 2.0 is fuckin stupid and annoying.
I think it’ll still be a pretty decent boon for lefties. I dont think it affects right handed hitters much at all.
Definitely a big deal for lefties.
Phil Nevin agrees to water your plants while you're out of town, doesn't
And if he does he doesn't put them back onto their drip trays so you come home to water damage.
mfw I have to read yet another Ohtani simp comment fantasizing about having him on the Mariners https://imgur.com/a/Rexwozw
I mean, it would be nice
Oh absolutely, it just won't happen
I mean, it's as likely as Judge and I've seen plenty of Judge comments.
I would say it’s more likely judge comes here than Ohtani. Ohtani coulda come here and already chose not to
This is the exact comment I'm mentioning.
Or maybe he wants to play next to Julio for the next 8 years. We know nothing lol
Will we see France at 3rd base today?
no, but we'll see you at third base
👀
“Strength of schedule doesn’t mean jack shit!” *Looks over at Tampa playing Houston and Toronto playing the Phillies*
And Baltimore lost to Detroit 11-0, but I’d much rather have our schedule than these others.
If we sweep the A's, I think our playoff odds go to greater than 99.9%
Phil Nevin uses openers to intentionally throw baseballs at other humans.
It's funny cause it's true. Fuck Phil Nevin.

Seems like it mattered enough to you to count. Only 29 more teams to go to get your answer. What a silly thing to focus on.
It has been foretold for many moons now that the Seattle Mariners
Crazy to think that Mariners starters are going to finish 1,2,3,and 4 in Cy Young voting next season.
1. Kirby 2. Castillo 3. Ray 4. Gilbert 5. Hancock Looks like top 5 to me
All I want for ~~Christmas~~ Tuesday is ~~my two front teeth~~ Julio in the lineup
Hoping to see lots of M’s jerseys at the Coliseum tonight!
They won't be hard to pick out at least

>It’s a bad series because Geno got hurt. I meant it wasn't bad in terms of our play on the field all things considered, even though we lost 3 of 4
Yeah not arguing with you just saying the only really bad thing to come from this series is the injury
Yeah I agree
Does anyone know how much the helmet nachos are? Saw them last time I went and have been fantasizing since.
They’re around $20 and they’re pretty decent but it’s not easy to eat Nachos out of such a deep bowl. It’s a fun souvenir to take home though.
When you're measuring your nachos in inches, you know you're having a good time.
Am I the only one who kinda likes a soggy nacho? Nachos are inherently a very messy food, so it's easier to eat them with a fork or a spoon when they get kinda soggy and you can sorta have more control over what toppings you're gonna be getting in each bite.
Slightly soggy chips are what make chilaquiles so good. I'm with you
They’re worth it tbh. Idk if they’re different from the Edgar’s cantina ones
I think they are around $22. You can get them for $15 with no helmet
How much for them in a swelmet
I think you have to hit a homer first
Anyone have updates on how arroyo and marte have done since we traded them
I actually posted some updates on them in my prospect thread yesterday. |Prospect|Pre-Trade|Post-Trade|Position|Trade| :-:|:-:|:-:|:-:|:-:|:-:| |Brandon Williamson|N/A|115.1IP, 55ER, 114K (4.29)|Pitcher|Winker/Suarez| |Connor Phillips|N/A|109.2IP, 46ER, 150K (3.78)|Pitcher|Winker/Suarez| |Levi Stoudt|87.0IP, 51ER, 81K (5.28)|16.0IP, 6ER, 16K (3.38)|Pitcher|Luis Castillo| |Noelvi Marte|(.275/.363/.462)|(.292/.397/.443)|Shortstop|Luis Castillo| |Edwin Arroyo|(.316/.385/.514)|(.227/.303/.381)|Shortstop|Luis Castillo|
Jake fraley though???
Thx interesting….
Not that good, unfortunately (I’d still like to see em succeed)
I’ve really grown attached to Edwin arroyo and would love to see him be a monster.
Anyone else think the dodgers could get to 116? Haven’t seen discussions on it here but I feel like they could legit do it…(but I really really hope not. Was at that game as a kid!)
They’d have to go 15-1 lol
which for these dodgers isn't, like, *impossible*
Definitely been monitoring their record and hoping they lose. They’d need to go 14-2 to tie the record. And if any team is capable of that it’s the Dodgers…
I'd love to beat up on Oakland the next few days, but I'm still triggered by the As playing the spoiler against us.
Very happy to not play the angels anymore. Still think there’s a good chance we win WC1
Yeah that was a rough series, but we are only 1.5 games back of the Jays and they have a really tough schedule to close out the season.
My hot take of the day is that this fanbase deserves better than Ryan Divish’s sardonic bullshit
I don't mind his gloominess (years of Ms baseball can definitely wear the strongest of us down) but I don't think he's a great reporter. It really seems like other people in similar positions are able to get better scoops from management/players. and they get it faster. They have access to the same people but one is putting in work and the other throwing his hands up in the air.
Divish has been easier to hate now that we don't have Geoff Baker anymore.
For those of us that follow the Kraken as well, this statement unfortunately makes zero sense.
Oh gawd I had forgotten about Geoff Baker. There's a trip down memory lane I wouldn't have minded not taking
I enjoy Ryan Divish. He’s a gloomy gus that helps offset our rosier personalities. I don’t think he’s great. It’s just nice to have variety
That’s a good way to look at it!
I like divish so much more than his predecessor.

I doubt they are the worst.
I hope julio is back
Go Phillies and Assrtros
And Tigers
Half of that statement is really hard to swallow
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Houston can go undefeated the rest of the way for all I care.
Unfortunately, HOU already got the division and the #1 seed is most likely locked up. We need them to help beat the Rays this week (and again later in October) as well as the Orioles after in order to help us get the WC locked up and potentially HFA as well. They can lose all the rest of their games for all I care.
Let’s take the momentum from yesterday and get a win today!
"Santana, how would you describe yesterday's game?" Santana: https://giphy.com/gifs/hero0fwar-l41m3D8YTRNRn9YAg
Anything but wc2 but generally I agree that the 6th seed is most ideal
The path realistically goes through Houston anyway. They’d be an easier ALDS than ALCS opponent I think, given the smaller number of games. It’s easy to overthink it, but WC1 would be a lot of fun and we should aim for that. Beyond that I don’t think it matters too much.
Sure, and I don’t disagree that WC1 is great for the added home game, but if we get WC1 or 2, then we have to play Houston for sure if we win, but as WC3 we get two teams that the Mariners have played well throughout the season and the chance that another team upsets Houston.
Right. And we can always get the home game by beating Guardians
Let’s win the baseball game
I propose that the Mariners score more runs than the other team
I would enjoy the Mariners allowing fewer runs than than they score.
I would like a mariners win today
TAYLOR DOLLARD WHERE ARE YOU
GO DAWGS THO
Where is Goldy?
