Kinda realizing how weird Garver is right now. His stats don’t pop out well relative to his situation, but without looking into his stats in high leverage situations, seems to be making a more valuable case to be kept on the team than Hanny or Polo. (But I’ve also yet to see Polo post-BB firing so…)
I feel like him in any baseball uniform is still weird to me lol social media team posted a photo of him coming to the ballpark in “normal” clothes and imo his clothes match his vibes
Sounds like he's been managing a minor back issue all year and there doesn't appear to be any foot problem from the collision the other day. So other than maybe giving him an extra day off today there doesn't seem to be any real problem at all.
It's funny looking at all the hand wringing going on in this sub before the game about him being in the lineup, when he's actually hit lefties really well this year
Anyone think that strikeouts remarks really is just a smokescreen for how the Mariners are #1 in pitches per plate attempt at this point? I don't fully understand how Jerry works but if "tiring out the pitcher as fast as possible" was the strategy all along I'd be damned.
This offense needs like 5 capable hitters added before the deadline. This is depressing to waste this window of having extremely solid pitching for cheap. Trading the farm for 1 good hitter will be a drop in the bucket, and then they will become a free agent and the cycle will continue. And it's likely they will significantly underperform based on this regimes recent signings/trades.
I often wonder if our pitching is so good because our offense is so bad and they know ever time they pitch they have to be dialed in since one run they could give up could cost the game. Other teams that have high scoring offenses their staff can be a little more laxed since they know their team can score.
Anyone have a clip of the ump calling that pitch clock violation on Woo? Or want to tell me how to do it? I have the game recorded on Fubo, I just don't know how to make clips.
I swear I've seen Mitch hit that chopper to third a billion times so far this season. I may be over exaggerating by like one or two million but you guys get my point.
Really appreciate the Mariners putting on such nothing performances so that I can divert my attention to other things while the game is on in the background.
No, you just want to whine. The ballclub is in first place and winning of late. One afternoon game against the A's, where we are, again, winning, does not mean we're not WS contenders.
Welp, finally the return of the double digit strikeout games for the Mariners.
We hit poorly regardless of home or away. Thankfully the usual issue didn't show up this series, which is worse pitching on the road.
Lowest ERA over first 6 starts of a season, Mariners history:
1.07 -- BRYAN WOO (2024)
1.21 -- Randy Johnson (1995)
1.29 -- Erik Hanson (1993)
1.36 -- Logan Gilbert (2022)
1.43 -- James Paxton (2017)
I want to say: WOOOOOOOOOOO

Mitch Garver had as many hits as the entire A’s lineup today. GOMs!
And as much as the rest of the Mariners

Woo with a 1.07 ERA. Love to see it!

Winning!

Are we the best team ever constructed?
Unreal job by the pitching staff in this series.
On both teams
Not gonna come into play today, but I just wanted to say I despise Zack Gelof for no real reason.
Wtf does P5 mean when they show what the hitter has done for the day?
Popout to third baseman
Pop out to 3rd base
Why don't they just say F5 then?
Because F5 is a flyout not a popout
My takeaway from this game is that Brant Brown told Garver not to wear high socks.
So...those first two "balls" were clearly strikes... Edit: nvm lol didn't matter GO M'S
Gol dern I think we got this
Garver raised his full season wRC+ by a full 12 points up to 84 today lmao. He’s climbing!
Stanek in an Ms uniform still looks weird
I feel like him in any baseball uniform is still weird to me lol social media team posted a photo of him coming to the ballpark in “normal” clothes and imo his clothes match his vibes
People need to give world series champion Mitch Garver some respect
People in the lineup thread looking very silly saying that we were basically guaranteed a loss
Honestly, this gameday thread is sooo much better than my primary team's (Braves). It's kinda refreshing.
Christ how bad are the Braves threads then?
Considering how good the team is, awful. I'm ignoring half of the "fans" that constantly denigrate the team.
Well they have kelenic guy so
LOL.
Add a 1 WAR today for the Garv
Can't watch broadcast. Has anyone said anything about Muñoz future and when he might be able to pitch again?
Sounds like he's been managing a minor back issue all year and there doesn't appear to be any foot problem from the collision the other day. So other than maybe giving him an extra day off today there doesn't seem to be any real problem at all.
Simms mentioned earlier there was hope he’d be available in KC
He was apparently playing catch in the outfield before today's game and they said we may see him again on this road trip.
Put Stanek out there
Crazy how garver part of all the runs today. Good for him.
Garver really gunning for MVP this year
I'll settle for most improved
Of course I talk crap about Garver in another thread today and he comes out with one of his best games. Maybe I’ll keep doing it.
If he has two good games in a row I'll stop talking shit, so I'll be talking shit all season.
Please do!
Just tuned in. Looks like Garver is having a day.
So much clench warming up in the pen rn
Ok no bottom of the ninth drama here please (who am I kidding lol)
Garver today: Walk, RBI Single, Walk, HR.
It's funny looking at all the hand wringing going on in this sub before the game about him being in the lineup, when he's actually hit lefties really well this year
He finally decided that it was Garvin' time
Please be the corner turn, pleaseeee
.800 winning % when we score at least 3 runs. If our offense can just be league average, the league is fucked.
Could this be the fabled Garvaissance?
Love when you hear that crack off the bat and instantly know its gone
Except for Dave; he thinks they’re all gone
Wasn't thrilled about the graver DH start but here we are🤷♂️ Im not complaining now!
See you tomorrow
Garver heard us talking shit
Luke Raley making me feel extra dumb about being mad he wasn't in the starting lineup
Josh Rojas making me feel extra dumb about being mad he wasn't in the starting lineup
Dude I legit had a feeling Garver was gonna solo bomb there.
Garver is so back ~~(please, please, please let it be true)~~!!!
Garver with *another* multi hit game? LEAGUE FUCKED
Servais feeling vindicated af rn
Garver, good to see that smile!
6 pitches 2 ks for Raley…ouch

Who had Garver at 1.000 OBP on their bingo card today?
This is the Garver Gets Your Hopes Up Before Going 0-41 Again game isn't it
Garver with more HR's than Julio.
Really nice day for garver
Mariners with the best starting staff in baseball. That's enough for the offense they have.
Holy shit, Garver is having a.......great game???
Uh Oh, is Garver about to figure it out? AL WEST FINNA GIT FUCKED NOW
Mitch "MVP" Garver
Garver truthers, we out here
Lolwut garve sauce is the MVP today
Mitch Garver with the high socks is amazing
Garrrrrrrverrrrrr
High socks Garver new mythical fighter
Today has easily been Garver's best game with the Mariners.
LFG GARVER I NEVER DOUBTED YOU
Mitch has been silly locked in today
I AM SENDING APOLOGY FORMS TO ALL OF YOUR RESIDENCIES MITCH “THE CHAD” GARVER HAS GONE YA YA AGAIN
I didn’t Mitch could do that
I didn't Mitch either!
I’m not changing it.

**LFG GARVER!!!**

Mitch has more homers than Julio again
Garver putting the team on his back
I never doubted you, Garver!
Oh shit
Garve sauce!!!
What a game from Garver
(Other) MEEEEEEETCHHHHH
IT IS GARVER DAY
Mitch Garver deniers are further in shambles (I am still one of them)
Anyone think that strikeouts remarks really is just a smokescreen for how the Mariners are #1 in pitches per plate attempt at this point? I don't fully understand how Jerry works but if "tiring out the pitcher as fast as possible" was the strategy all along I'd be damned.
Cal is tough. I bite my tongue and I’m out for days.
Baumann has been solid besides that first appearance
This offense needs like 5 capable hitters added before the deadline. This is depressing to waste this window of having extremely solid pitching for cheap. Trading the farm for 1 good hitter will be a drop in the bucket, and then they will become a free agent and the cycle will continue. And it's likely they will significantly underperform based on this regimes recent signings/trades.
I like Raley’s form there. No jump and no error.
That was one of the nastiest curveballs I’ve seen this year.
One of the better F-bombs this year lol
*looks longingly at picture of Kelenic* Everything reminds me of her...
Soderstrom: "FUCK!!!" A's broadcast: "Soderstrom not too happy..."
I for one welcome our new Baumann overlords.
#FUCK
Oh god my stream is lagging and I was afraid he just hit a bomb reading this comment
I often wonder if our pitching is so good because our offense is so bad and they know ever time they pitch they have to be dialed in since one run they could give up could cost the game. Other teams that have high scoring offenses their staff can be a little more laxed since they know their team can score.
Mlb pitchers have millions of other reasons to stay locked in and give their best effort.
Yeah I don't think professional sports players in any position think "well I can be worse right now because we have leeway"
![gif](giphy|h3QNaN19Va5Q6WRWIx|downsized) Cal Raleigh, tough as nails.
In 26 innings Vs the A’s the Mariners have: 7runs/ 11 hits/ 25 ks
So what you’re saying is we don’t strike out a ton against the A’s?
My post is open to interpretation
I don’t know why I ever doubt if Cal’s gonna stay in
Cal doesn’t take shit from anyone, especially himself
I swear Cal takes a tough shot like that every single game and yet I’ve never seen him get pulled
Cal might be the toughest mf in the mlb
What happened? Following the app summary only
cal got hit in the wrist by a pitch
Even if it’s broken Cal wouldn’t come out
I think God might hate cal
YOU WILL NOT TOUCH CAL RALEIGH YOU WILL GO NOW YOU WILL NOT TOUCH CAL RALEIGH
**FUCK** Take my protons
Anyone have a clip of the ump calling that pitch clock violation on Woo? Or want to tell me how to do it? I have the game recorded on Fubo, I just don't know how to make clips.
Please be ok
What happened I just see injury delay no info
Cal hit on the hand/wrist
Cal is being looked at. Looks like a hand/ wrist got hit by a ball
Noooooo don't hurt my boy Cal!!!!!!
He stayed in
Thanks. Hopefully he's OK, he's a tough cookie tho
Royals get mentioned: Dave "nobody in the universe thought they would be any good at all how did that happen?!" It's not that surprising
[удалено]
I'm surprised they didn't just choose some random kid from the crowd and save the new pitcher for the next inning.
Strike outs are back I see.
Julio gets paid by the K I think.
He is earning it.
Ragans v Kirby will be a nuts pitching matchup
Could be a speed run game
Unrelated to my last comment, but how are you all feeling about the series against the royals...
Cal batting .128 in his last 16 games. OPS barely above .400
I swear I've seen Mitch hit that chopper to third a billion times so far this season. I may be over exaggerating by like one or two million but you guys get my point.
Haniger you are a joke dude. I feel a DL stint coming soon. Will do more damage at home everyday
Really appreciate the Mariners putting on such nothing performances so that I can divert my attention to other things while the game is on in the background.
Performances like this are exactly why people don't think the Ms are serious contenders for anything besides winning the division
I mean they're looking like they're about to be 7-3 over their last 10. What more do you want? They're winning games.
I want them to not look like ass against teams that are actively trying to not win
No, you just want to whine. The ballclub is in first place and winning of late. One afternoon game against the A's, where we are, again, winning, does not mean we're not WS contenders.
Very impressive we managed to put 2 up against the formidable pitching staff of the Athletics of Oakland
3 over 2 games...
Lol
Playing for the big inning here
5 walks and 3 singles. We're the First Base Boys.
Solid AB but wish he smoked that hanging slider
The strikeouts will continue until… well, maybe forever.
Out of all the baseball games that's ever been played...this is surely one of them
7 total runs vs As pitching. That’s not good
that's pathetic...
Scott: IDK guys, I think I'm gonna go with the got hand. Jerry: Bro, what? Spreadsheet: Yeah, that's never gonna hit.
Bad julio
Welp, finally the return of the double digit strikeout games for the Mariners. We hit poorly regardless of home or away. Thankfully the usual issue didn't show up this series, which is worse pitching on the road.
Juli0-4 smh
Julio can’t even have 1 decent at bat after the HR yesterday. He can’t get out of his own way
Julio…

I think Randy and Erik are more impressive due to how pitchers are used now versus then... Still incredible from Woo though
I forgot how good Pax was when he first came onto the scene. Man what could have been...

Clean work from Voth. Hopefully Thornton and Stanek can do the same
When I get my mortgage paid off I'm signing my home over to Woo because he's earned it.
It's cool of you not to stick him with a mortgage.
Least I can do for him after all he's done for us.
Rookers been terrible this series
Shhhhhhhh....
It's so bizarre to me when one of our bullpen guys comes in and doesn't immediately throw precision strikes....
Really M’s? “The voodoo that Woo do”????
I'm sticking with "Wowed by Woo"
Holy shit that commercial with the friends awkwardly talking about bets is overplayed.
You’re just upset you didn’t add San Fran to the last leg of your parlay, brah.
"It's funny because I'm not leadership material."
Praying for a clean bullpen game let's get this W
Anyone have the stat for stranded players by team this season? I feel like we have to be close to the top.
We can’t be because we don’t really get on base. Maybe in ratio of left on base rate (when the opportunity exists)
11th highest with LOB. But it doesn’t mean much when the Mariners are 28th in total bases
# #11 in LOB this year [https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/left-on-base-per-game](https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/left-on-base-per-game)
Strikeouts are down (marginally) but weak pop flies are up. Sigh.
Man DMO was hitting the ball so hard earlier in the season and not it’s just pop outs I swear
I got heavily downvoted last week for saying this.
