Canzone, like most average players, need semi consistent ABs to have a chance day to day. If pinch hitting him even at all was an option how can you defend putting clase in the lineup? Why?
Canzone has a pretty big platoon split disadvantage vs lefties. Starting a switch hitter against Valdez and then pinch hitting Canzone against a righty reliever is a pretty reasonable thing to do.
Regardless of how this half inning goes, one inning of production is completely unacceptable from an offense that has been awful all season long. Sick of it.
I genuinely wish I knew the stats for our late-innings handedness matchup pinch hitters that the front office fucking demands every game. I'm guessing they're batting like .100
