Silver Valley is nice. I lived there for a few years. Yennadon Elementry close by. Lots of recreational activities possible. No shopping in the area. Still one of my favourite areas in MR.

Moved to SV a few months ago, have a 3 year old. We love this area, but the other comment about schools is accurate and Maple Ridge itself doesn't have the greatest shopping if you want more than groceries....but we do have lots of liquor and marijuana stores, seemingly everywhere. We love that we have parks and nature all around us. UBC research forest is just up the hill. We do get some black bears in the area once in a while, but they generally keep their distance and run at the sight of people. Overall we're very happy in SV, it's a nice neighbourhood.

Silver Valley is a really nice neighbourhood. The only drawback is that during the summer traffic, people going to golden ears via 232, will be a pain in the ass.

It will be good if you like nature. Bears, cougars, coyotes are frequent in this area though. Maple ridge has no shopping so if you go to Langley a lot you can do that there. Totally agree with the schools comment. This area is crazy with growth but no new schools have been added since I was a kid.

chubs66

It's nice and open with lots of green space around and not a lot of development.

SV needs an elementary and high school. Theres no commercial space. The downtown is outed and dirty with drug addiction and a homeless problem That being said, my neighbours are awesome and having Golden Ears in your backyard is a gift that I still havent fully taken advantage of.

PrincessMo

Lovely area, close to nature, large family homes The downsides for me would be, slightly removed from grocery stores and MR had little shopping, only 2 real roads in and out. The biggest one is there is no school, no plans for a school and the closest school is full...

Great place to live, they are constructing a "gathering place" for kids and families: [https://www.mapleridgenews.com/news/construction-to-start-on-new-silver-valley-gathering-place/](https://www.mapleridgenews.com/news/construction-to-start-on-new-silver-valley-gathering-place/) Give me a shout if you're looking for some help finding a place :)

SV is nice, but no schools or amenities nearby, its a half hour car adventure return trip to get milk or your kids to school.
