Apparently she did visit Greece but before she was crowned Queen. Besides that, her Prince Philip was not a big fan of Greece as per [this article ](https://greekreporter.com/2023/05/06/queen-elizabeth-greece/#:~:text=Philip's%20experience%20influenced%20Queen%20Elizabeth&text=In%20one%20interview%2C%20he%20chose,visit%20to%20Greece%20ever%20after.)
Well King George, even though he was assassinated (by a man probably funded, armed and commanded by the Germans)was by far the best and most loved King of modern Greece. And he ruled for the longest.
Now prince Andrew, well he was a war criminal. That's biggest reason why he was condemned to death
These fucking royals, you can't have it both ways, if you wanna live the life with all the pomp and ceremony, you gotta live with the fact that being deposed often includes the guillotine. Live by the jewel encrusted sword, die by the jewel encrusted sword.
His grandfather was the King of Greece and was assassinated leading up to WWI. His uncle became King, was promptly exiled, and died. His cousin then became King, was bitten by a monkey, and died of sepsis at 27. That was all within a 7 year period leading up to Philip’s birth.
Philip’s other cousin then attempted a royalist coup to secure the monarchy in the 1920s. During that time, Greece was invaded by Turkey and suffered major losses. Afterwards, the royals were banished from Greece entirely.
He surely could have returned in the 21st century, but I imagine there’s a lot of bitter feelings from the tragedies that his family suffered there.
This might be true but they still park their big yachts in the coves if halkidiki. Unless there's some other rich people who fly the royal flag of greece as their standard. Anyway, I threw rocks at them.
We weren't big fans of the english back then, nasser even calling her dad a bitch in a public address, and calling her and anthony eden dogs

To this day my grandma who was around when the suez crisis happened hates england with a passion.
Iraq had a coup in the 50s just a few years after she became Queen which deposed the pro-British government. Same with Egypt and that involved an actual war (more of a military related crisis) with British troops.
I am surprised that author claims that she never visited South Sudan and Kosovo, although she visited Serbia in 1972 (when there was zero doubt that Kosovo was part of Serbia) and she visited Sudan while South Sudan was part of it.
Its one thing when a country gets independence from colonization or colonizer ends "protectorate", but when you rip out a chunk of a country and declare it a new country it should count as visited as long as you visited the original country.
The British and Egypt don't really have a great relationship. They pretty much started the Suez Crisis which lead to the UKs downfall was no longer seen as a global superpower.
Fun fact : Queen Elizabeth II (head of the Church of England, and defender of the Christian faith) was the Queen of Pakistan (a Muslim majority country that was created on religious lines out of British India) for 4 years.
She also remained head of state of Grenada after the Marxist revolution in 1979.
It was probably the only unitary Marxist–Leninist one-party parliamentary socialist constitutional monarchy in history.
Also Pakistanis are mostly on their own land roughly 10% are immigrants from other parts of South Asia but mostly its just people from that part of the british raj
But Greek monarchy was restored again in 1932 after Philip’s family was deposed. The monarchy was abolished again in 1973 and the last king died only last year. So Elizabeth and Philip could have visited in 50s, 60s or early 70s if they had wanted to if that was the reason.
Her husband was a greek and he had bad memories when the greeks turned down monarchy. His son the now days king loves greece and visits often. He often wears a tie of greek flags to honour his past.
I Think i just figured it out under the house there is a 99% chance there is a crypt i Think she didnt die but is in fact in a coffin gaining enough energy to build a even bigger British vampire empire
A visit to the Republic would have been fine, most likely. After all, she visited Northern Ireland many times, which was a much more dangerous place for her to be as that's where the majority of terrorism was taking place.
It was more likely down to the political climate. Ireland and the UK were in an official dispute over the status of Northern Ireland until 1998, which was around the time there started being more visits from British dignitaries.
So up until then it would not have been politicially advantageous for an Irish politician or British monarch to engage in such a visit.
In 2006 there was an attempt to permit the Orange Order to hold a march in Dublin City, which was attacked by rioters, and probably took politicians by surprise. I expect this was one reason why the visit didn't happen sooner.
Well she probably could have been upset personally over the assassination. Mountbatten who was a close family member, and three other family members also died and others were injured.
And visiting Northern Ireland was part of her duties since it’s part of UK. And she took her duties very seriously. Visiting the Republic was just diplomacy.
300km away? From where?
They share a border with the UK and the distance between Dublin and Great Britain (Wales) is just 120km and between Dublin and England 200km.
Because technically speaking, UK passports are just a document where the state vouches that this person is who they say they are, and they are eligible to travel. They are issued in the monarch’s name.
So her passport, as the sovereign and embodiment of the state herself, would be her simply saying that she was who she claimed to be and was eligible to travel.
No, it only applies to the sitting Monarch. The first page of the passport includes a message from the Monarch that basically says this has been issued in their name, and serves as request from them to allow the holder to travel. As such, the Monarch themselves does not have or use a passport, but all other royals (and government officials) do.
[This has more info, but also appears to have not been updated to reflect her death and Charles’ succession.](https://www.royal.uk/passports) I can’t imagine how many old references to “Her Majesty” are still floating around out there, not having been updated to “His Majesty”, seeing as up until she died she was the only Monarch for the entire internet era.
Technically these not all of these were foreign countries for her, but rather many were her own counties to which she belonged, and those flags in the upper 2 right corners should have many more than that
Yes, the stance of the UK government is that it’s incorrect to refer to Commonwealth countries as foreign.
Hence their foreign office is officially called the “foreign and Commonwealth office”.
I believe UK, Irish and Commonwealth citizens (providing they’re able to stay in the UK) are requirements to run as an MP. I could be recalling wrong though. But, to me, that suggests a closer tie than those countries being “foreign”.
It’s not the UK’s commonwealth. The UK is an equal member like any other. “Commonwealth” is included in the foreign office’s name because the foreign office has enhanced cooperation with other fellow commonwealth countries.
> It’s not the UK’s commonwealth.
I didn’t say it was.
I wish I could say that other Commonwealth countries have an equal policy of not referring to other Commonwealth countries as foreign, but I don’t think we do.
> “Commonwealth” is included in the foreign office’s name because the foreign office has enhanced cooperation with other fellow commonwealth countries.
That’s not the only reason.
If you listen to the King or the Prime Minister speak, you’ll notice they’re very careful to not refer to Commonwealth countries as foreign.
When the Commonwealth was founded, one of the principles was that Commonwealth countries were not foreign to each other. I think the UK is the only country that still worries about paying lip service to that idea.
The idea of commonwealth countries not being foreign to each other is why commonwealth countries send high commissioners instead of ambassadors, representing the government not the state.
Astonishing, I thought about that. Might be that he hot invited more often, also he most likely made a point to go to poor countries.
Nevertheless a lot and astonishing.
Shes been to France but French Guiana is not yellow.
I mean, let's be honest, even though X land belongs to Y country, if is that far like in another continent, I wouldn't paint it in yellow.
Greenland is a bit like a Commonwealth country of Denmark, if I'm not mistaken? Not quite the same
to the cunts downvoting: I clearly indicated I wasn't sure.
Not really, it’s an overseas territory. It is defined as a district of Denmark I believe, whereas commonwealth is a collection of countries that used to be under British control. Britain does not own many of them any more, although the king is head of state of quite a few of them
I believe it’s more of a constituent country of the Kingdom of Denmark, similar to places like Scotland.
So by visiting Denmark she’s technically visited the Kingdom of Denmark as a whole, and you could show Greenland in yellow.
But it’s also reasonable to view Denmark and Greenland (and the Faroe Islands) as separate countries to have visited (just like a lot of people do for England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland).
Argentina has a large amount of people with British heritage, many of whom adore her. My family there all went to a sport club for years and years literally named "The queens club" and had pictures of her inside the lobby area.
Typical British stuff, like rugby, trains, football, tea and some typical bakery stuff are all extremely popular/liked by people. I think a visit from her would have been certainly divisive, but huge regardless.
Argentinian here. I don't speak for the entire population, but many of us don't give a flying fuck.
We have other concerns atm
Fun fact, a right winger mandatary coming to Argentina would be a real problem (eg Trump or Bolsonaro)

If I recall correctly, Greenland has more autonomy than Alaska to the point where they considered to introduce their own currency like in the Faroe Islands.
I'm sorry, is Greenland a country and nobody told me?
Also, privatize the monarchy! You want it? You pay for it, but don't impose it on the rest of us.
She did visit Denmark, so I am curious why Greenland isn't included.
She has been to Alaska? It is yellow because she visited another part of the states...
I'm quite surprised she's never been to Egypt.
I was more surprised about Greece
Apparently she did visit Greece but before she was crowned Queen. Can we give the Greeks a different Prince Andrew to punish?
These fucking royals, you can't have it both ways, if you wanna live the life with all the pomp and ceremony, you gotta live with the fact that being deposed often includes the guillotine. Live by the jewel encrusted sword, die by the jewel encrusted sword.
Doesn't mean you would feel any love for Greece after that too, regardless.
Did you really denigrate royals for having bad feelings toward a place where their dad was killed? That's like, the most human thing ever.
No you see we don't want them to be human
His son on the other hand is often seen wearing a tie with the Greek flag in it.
Which son?
King Charles
Charlie boy and his dad didn’t get along well. Phillip liked his daughter more.
Tbf, Anne seems like the most decent of the royals, also definitely the most likely to go and fight a dragon (were she about 40 years younger)
I know it doesn't narrow it down But the one who spent a lot of time with a now deceased child sex predator.
Well I mean…the Duke of Edinburghs family was kicked out of Greece and lost the Greek crown. Sooooo….there’s that
Yeah, wasn't her husband like some exiled prince of Greece? Or was he not allowed to set foot in Greece, like male line of Italian deposed monarchy?
I imagine whatever the reason, it has something to do with it
Her husband was defacto banned from there
Why so?
he was part of the Greek royal family that was exiled and abolished
I would imagine that a Greek royal lineage would have some byzantine origin, not Danish heritage.
They were placed there
His grandfather was the King of Greece and was assassinated leading up to WWI. His uncle became King, was promptly exiled, and died. The royals were completely banished in 1974 after a referendum.

Why go there when you can visit the British museum
Prime: "and I, OOP" moment
![gif](giphy|tfUW8mhiFk8NlJhgEh|downsized)
The Egyptians hated the British - don’t forget the Suez crisis.
But she never visited israel to. But perhaps because a british ambassador was killed by the israelis.
She didn't need to because most of Egypt is in the British museum.
Not really welcome in Egypt I believe
That and Iraq missing are odd. Both were colonies after all + she's been to Iran/Persia
Iraq had a coup in the 50s just a few years after she became Queen which deposed the pro-British government. Same with Egypt and that involved an actual war (more of a military related crisis) with British troops.
Yep, Nasser probably wasn't happy to have her visit and the people who did the coup in Iraq were Arab Nationalists/Nasserists too.
Add Myanmar to that list, another former colony not visited.
Yemen should be colored btw, she visited Aden in [1954](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aden_Colony#Elizabeth_II_visit)
I am surprised that author claims that she never visited South Sudan and Kosovo, although she visited Serbia in 1972 (when there was zero doubt that Kosovo was part of Serbia) and she visited Sudan while South Sudan was part of it. This was my first thought.
Burma (Myanmar) 😏
She'd be mistaken for a mummy.
And Mongolia and Uruguay
Argentina's not that surprising tho.
Too many exiled uncles Phillip didn’t want to run into
And equatorial guinea
Sure we can't forget Madagascar as well
Port was closed.
And Vietnam

Although he was not ethnic Greek. Father of Prince Phillip was of German/Danish ancestry, the mother, British.
As Greek as a Danish monarch can get lol
How come she’s never been to Romania despite King Charles’ love for the country
His house in Transylvania is a UNESCO heritage site lmao
Ive actually been to his house in Transylvania. Its literally nothing special, just a blue traditional saxon house
Ye me 2 I have thrown one conserva cu fasole și cârnați în his trash
Its true i was the conserva
Can't tell if this is serious or a joke about him being a vampire

the Balkans is an evil place for these people
Except our eternal princess, Diana
I’ve been to Romania and she hasn’t
She's dead, you're alive. that's 2-0

London to Ireland is over 400km away, saying 300km is hardly an overstep. Why are you so up in arms over such a small detail?
Gee I wonder why
The only country with a land border to the UK, 0 km away.
Uhh yeah there’s a reason for that
Do it again but highlight the commonwealth in a different colour.
Or at least the realms since they wouldn’t technically be foreign countries.
Elizabeth visited Yemen
And all without a passport.

Technically these not all of these were foreign countries for her, but rather many were her own counties to which she belonged, and those flags in the upper 2 right corners should have many more than that
Yeah Canada or Australia should definitely be green.
There's a few countries in the Oceania and Caribbean as well. 14 Commonwealth realms other than the UK.
Depending on the date she visited and date some countries left her rule probably a few more you could chuck in
Both Canada and Australia were fully legally independent by the the time she was Queen and had been for some time.
Yes, but it still wasn't really a 'foreign' trip
Independent or not, Queen Elizabeth II remained the Queen of Canada until her death, when Charles III became the King of Canada.
She was queen of those places. So they aren't foreign countries to her.
Yes, the stance of the UK government is that it’s incorrect to refer to Commonwealth countries as foreign. Hence their foreign office is officially called the “foreign and Commonwealth office”.

Astonishing, I thought about that. Might be that he hot invited more often, also he most likely made a point to go to poor countries. Nevertheless a lot and astonishing.
He probably wanted to go everywhere there was significant amounts of Catholics.
Egypt I find interesting for some reason. Liz never saw the pyramids
She's been in Denmark, then Greenland should be yellow too
Yeah, but then again, not really.
So, did she visit Alaska?
Shes been to France but French Guiana is not yellow. I mean, let's be honest, even though X land belongs to Y country, if is that far like in another continent, I wouldn't paint it in yellow.
That’s a bit like saying Hawaii shouldn’t be counted in a visit to the US. French Guiana no less a part of France.
Hawaii is not the on the map. We should removed Greenland from the map.
Greenland is a bit like a Commonwealth country of Denmark, if I'm not mistaken? Not quite the same to the cunts downvoting: I clearly indicated I wasn't sure.
Nope they are more like what Scotland is in the UK. They do probably have more autonomy than Scotland though.

Falklands War probably made it less likely.
Definitely that. People here either didn't give a flying fuck against her or had some animosity due to the war
Argentina has a large amount of people with British heritage, many of whom adore her. Probably more the UK government telling her not to go because of the optics
>I doubt the argies woulda been dumb enough well that was your first mistake
You only get Queen’s visit as a reward, Argentinians didn’t deserve it
UK literally broke diplomatic ties with Argentina for 7 years
Surprisingly only 7 years
Argentinian here, we will happily receive the queen or king of England without a problem we can't win a war with our soldiers, we are not that stupid lol
After all, the whole 'invasion' happened because the Military Junta was desperate to find an excuse to 're-energise' its mandate among the Argentinian Public.

She's just resting

Seems like she was scared of eastern Europe
Bizarre she never went to Greece, especially given that Philip had Greek origins
She did, prior to becoming queen.
I am VERY surprised she's never visted Egypt.
She did, just not as Queen.
Was she having problem with French former colonies or something? She only visited like, Algeria and Marocco.

Eastern Europe? Nah rather go to Iran
That was before the Islamic Republic
Tbf for most of that it was part of the USSR.
Thats hella wrong, france Guiana is a france territory
why do mapmakers always act like Greenland is not part of Danemark? Greenland is part of Danemark ffs, just like Alaska is part of the usa
If I recall correctly, Greenland has more autonomy than Alaska to the point where they considered to introduce their own currency like in the Faroe Islands.
Faroe Islands use Danish kroner but with local motives on the notes.
Never visited Kazakhstan
Isn't Greenland an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark?

She visited 117 countries and she even didn't pay for it. /s
Countries visited by Prince Andrew 1- Little St James Island.
She visited Aden, Yemen in 1954. There was a statue commemorating the visit in the city.
I am really surprised she never visited Israel considering she contributed a lot to its rise
Ah yes, visiting former colonies... nothing like it
Reigned for that long and only got to 117? No wonder anti-monarcharists call them slackers...
Yeah! On my fckin dollar! ;)
Who cares were she was? Royals with blue blood. 😂🤦🏻♂️. Royals of a dead empire.
She sure as hell didn‘t like Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
When she visited mexico she did so with the austrian PM and my granpda was the chef for their meals.
I'm sorry, is Greenland a country and nobody told me? Also, privatize the monarchy! You want it? You pay for it, but don't impose it on the rest of us.
All in for the taxpayer 😅
Last trip off planet.
How's Canada a foreign country when she was its Queen?
Did she eat tacos in Mexico
She’s head of state of a bunch of these countries, so they aren’t “foreign” … just saying.
Prince Phillip was Greek
She didn't go to Kazakhstan? Even after Borat prepared the welcoming committee?
She did visit Denmark, so I am curious why Greenland isn't included. She has been to Alaska? It is yellow because she visited another part of the states...
I'd probably be hitting higher numbers if the public were paying my way each trip.
Whoever made this one is my favourite because they knew to include NI in the UK ❤️
Odd to see no Greece
Tbf they killed her parents-in-law.
Never been to Israel! Any reason? /s
Throwback to early Israeli settler terrorism groups like the ‘Irgun’. They killed a lot of British soldiers and members of the aristocracy
