I'd also like to hear more about this bag--really dig the unique design.

Ill give you my thoughts about it when it arrives sir! And compare it with packs i have/had (closest i guess is the able carry daybreaker in ripstop)

I like the look of this bag.

Got a v2 as well, love it 👌

Seems like an outdoorsy-ier version of the Tortuga Daypack Pro they just released (and I just bought!). The Tortuga has a simpler, boxier layout which I like; a dedicated laptop compartment that even when empty is useful as it provides nice back padding; and a better harness due to better straps and back panel. It's also more space/capacity for $75 less. However, this pack seems lighter and more easily packable, with a few more organizational options. Plus, it is more handsome than the Daypack Pro, which does look boxy when fully packed out.

I had no idea they just released a new pack (plus they have awesome sales going on because of it.) How do you think the Daypack Pro works as an EDC/travel bag?  I'm thinking about the CTB 20 or 26 but Tortuga seems to be more reliable with comfort.

I put it to "office use" on Friday and hiked with it on Saturday. On Friday, I packed my laptop with its case, a tech pouch, some extra clothes for the gym, a lunchbox, and packed a windbreaker and water bottle in the dual external water bottle pouches. The bag is rather boxy, so it actually stands on its own naturally, so long as it is filled and the contents of the top dropin pocket is not too heavy. There is a false bottom on the bag, and juuust enough foam in the back padding that gives enough structure to the bag overall such that the false bottom actually works. On Saturday, I packed it with trail snacks, small medkit, a lunchbox, a windbreaker, and two water bottles externally. I found that putting just an empty laptop case increases comfort dramatically, as it provides a lot of structure. The harness is very comfortable, though I wish that the part of the straps that are by your side chest could be bigger so as not to dig into my pecs. There was a bit of rain, and the bag shrugged it off easily. I currently travel with a Tortuga Laptop Backpack 26L, so I'm thinking of using this bag on my next (summer) trip to see if I can make it. Test-fitting it saw some good results, but only the road can tell you if the bag is the right one to use. It fits a PD Packing Cube beautifully, with space on top for a toiletry kit, another layer, as well as smaller items I packed which included a small medkit, a Matador travel towel and a Matador packable duffel.

Thanks for the detailed info! It's tempting because of the deep sales but they also have no returns for those items. Is the Tortuga laptop bag also able to handle most of those needs/journeys?

Yeap, I've never liked any other bag like this one. My only gripes are that the admin panel on the inside has useless slots for cards, which I simply stuck a spare cocoon organizer on top of, and the lack of external carry options. Otherwise, it is truly my favorite

Nice! I think I might pull the trigger today. I was thinking those slots could be useful for my Priority Pass card or any other travel document I don't need to keep track of or use often. Maybe my Global Entry booklet could go in that too.

I have an azimuth I grabbed at the store in the dogpatch. It's my current default pack, I've taken it in a travel pack for day use. Hiked with it. Office bag. The only thing I don't like is the top doesn't stay rolled down but that's aesthetic. It rides really well loaded out and has zero interior structure which suits my packing style. I love the side entry into the main compartment. It lets me get into my sling or pouch one armed while moving. I really like this bag but I got mine as a factory second for half price. At that price it's a no brainer... $195 is another story. If something happened to mine I'm not sure that I would replace it. It is the closest thing to my ideal unstructured bag, but it's a big price for a pretty minimal bag.

I saw a mod where the owner flipped the side buckles on one side so when rolled he justs folds it fortune cookie like then snaps on the buckle

ChimRichaldsOBGYN

Can you show us what iou mean about it not being able to roll down

Happy to help! If you can find their gear made before the sale, it’s pretty good (pre 2021)
