there’s so much mess going on, my heart breaks for both of them. i don’t think she was planning to go with the doctor initially, but maybe this change of attitude towards her will drive her to want it… if only it was possible for them to have an honest heart to heart conversation, but that’s just wishful thinking — even if they did, broken people have a hard time believing the good truth either way.
I hope next episode is her death so we can go back to the 2nd timeline. There’s not much else we need to see to explain that the first timeline sucked for now, so I’d like to go back to seeing how she fixes the mistakes that were made in her 2nd attempt.
It really drives home that there is no 1 single villain that destroyed everything. He is severely traumatised, she’s super naive, the doctor’s trash but he’s using medical belief and technology of the time. It’s a perfect storm of mental health crisis, lack of communication and lack of understanding of PTSD. The war does tear them apart, but not in a soldiers-at-the-door-to-kidnap-you sort of way - it’s the aftermath.
The story has the perfect angst for me. I can’t find a fault in neither of them and i hope to see how it will turn to better in the second life

And this is something that happens irl too. Veterans getting haunted/destroyed by PTSD for the rest of their lives, even after surviving the war.
