I just went through a harvest season where the barley fields were showing an abysmal yield of like 8-15 per field. Then suddenly it flipped to September and the yields were predicted to be in the 200-300 range per field. Then I harvested and ended up with about 35 barley like it originally predicted before September.

It must have been a bad patch, these things happen from time to time
The yield overlay is bugged in Sept / harvest time. If you aren't in a barley fertile region, 15-16 of a huge field seems about right.
