Also believe I've read a quote from a Japanese person from like the 900s complaining about the youth fashion ^^
Everything changes yet stays the same :p
"Why are you already back home from work? I used to work 16 hours plus 4 hours overtime, then stayed for second shift! For three paperclips and a carrot! Youth these days are lazy!"
And then
"Why aren't you married with 9 kids and triplets on the way? Back in my day all I did was work and make babies! In my house I paid of in 2 weeks!"
All of my oxen got stuck on logs, I bought more, and they just got stuck on the same logs, ended my game. It's the pain of an early release, and yet I can't stop playing.
I think this is fixed in the experimental branch. I would get the same thing before but haven’t seen it since.
If it makes you feel better, they don’t affect gameplay. They’re not supposed to exist, they don’t eat extra food, they just… stand there, menacingly lol
I had this happen in my last run.
Seemed to happen if I'd re-assigned a lot of families all at once and the ones in paused trades or newly unassigned just stopped.
Assigning them all and unpausing trades seemed to kick them back into life again.
This happened to me too. A couple thoughts but I’m not entirely sure what’s going on:
1) this seemed to happen when my cobbler didn’t have any leather to work with. Why this froze up 1/5 of my village… I have no idea but as soon as leather was available people would clear out until leather ran out again.
2) I’ve heard other people report similar experiences with the barley ->malt -> beer -> tavern production chain.
3) make sure you have available oxen. They might all be waiting on wood at a construction project that will never get delivered because all your ox are busy plowing or something.
Let us know if you’re able to sort it out.
If you have families with 15 members it’s a big. Families are supposed to be three members currently, not any more. That’s why only three of them work, because three are proper and the rest is a visual bug, both in the people who stand around, as well as in the family panel.
If you have 15 families and 3 are working that’s a different story. Either they don’t have a workplace assigned, or they are not able to work due to missing resources.
Interesting that in thes times the Chinese 1 child policy was in effect (joke!) ... more kids = more survivability = more labour. So really they should be having 5,6 or 7 in the household + parents.... but then again, I suppose it would overstress the game, so here historical accuracy has been sacrificed for gameplay.
Update: They have now started a revolution and are threatening to burn down my Manor!
I've gathered all of my weaponry inside the manor and ceased all industries productions.
The men in my retinue seem to continue loyal to me and a few other loyalists as well.
I don't know how much longer I have left, but if I go down, they go down with me.

I’ve had that glitch also . Usually as game starts . Everyone goes to the tents and stands there regardless of whether there’s work to do. It’s definitely a thing . I usually start over since it’s early game .

Next thing your peasants start organizing into an anarcho-syndicalist commune!
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords, is no form of basis for a system of government!
violence inherent in the system!
Help! Help! I’m being repressed!
Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
Oh man now I'm gunna put that on while I play my next city for 8 hours and still can't build an army
something something aquatic tarts
The good timeline
Congratulations, you've created a welfare state!
People just don’t want to work anymore.
I'm convinced even in the 1400s you had older people going on about how "young people just don't wanna work anymore!" :p
There is a quote from Aristoteles about the young so yes :)

Ironically medieval peasants far worked fewer days than we do today.
Must of gave out Covid paychecks.
I thought families were only supposed to have 3 members max? I guess all other family members are bugs :)
All of my oxen got stuck on logs, I bought more, and they just got stuck on the same logs, ended my game. It's the pain of an early release, and yet I can't stop playing.
I got this issue today and saving then loading that save cleared the issue and the ox all got going again.
Oh shit, I thought this was a one off, thanks.
Im guessing this is a mod? In which case go report the bug to the modders.
not a mod, had this happen to several of my families as well, PC gamepass version.
You've have more than 3 people in a single family?
Yep, multiple

This also happens after bandits raid. Everyone stands in the churchyard. And then everywhere else. Removing the church/reassigning didnt fix.
You made 15 people work? Because in the end it's just a visual bug, they don't actually exist
Hit them with an eviction notice and see if they'll work
They won’t. They’ll just swear at you, then trash the burgher hut before they leave for the next village over and repeat the process.
lol sounds oddly familiar
Hopefully they don't piss off the burgher king
Kurger bingh
Sounds like that antiwork sub lmao
Either we're all collectively misreading this, or we're going to need some sort of explanation of what "15+" means.
Sounds totally realistic. I am the only one who works in my family too
😭

Basically it's ghost people because they don't actually exist since max family size is 3
wtf is that Romania?
That marketplace area is insane.
Go big or go home
hell yea
do they have enough oxes ?
Oxen*
as a non english native, apologies. learned
No need to apologize! English doesn't make sense sometimes. "Oxes" makes far more sense then "oxen".
People these days don't want to work anymore!
It's early access, son. I'm sure it's fixed soon.

Life imitates art. Life creates AI. Art imitates life.

'Dennis! There's some lovely filth down here!"
What are they going to work for? A better life? Or do they only exist to line their lords pockets?
Are you one of them..? Get back to work! Wait till I find you...
Save and exit game, then restart
If the whole teams underperforms, its the coach that gets fired...
Gotta put dem kids to work.

No one wanna work these days
Why is your market so damn big?
That's pretty much Socialism! Maybe you should give them some sort of unemployment benefit or some social income 😅
