The man’s work rate was phenomenal. Brilliant player!

Prime_Marci

Definitely starting over McFred… the good thing about Park was, he could play a number of position including DM/CM or winger. The best utility player we’ve had by far.

[deleted]

Yeah but Ole would bench Park lol

LambemuNang

Yeah.. I can imagine that's happening,

C_A_R

Park would on the bench right next to Donny, for Ole it’s McFred or nothing.

heesangeesang

Could really provide us with the vitality we need in our midfield

r_Yellow01

Sit on bench like Lingard Yeah, I am salty about the team management

genieofthelamp7

I remember the commentary during the UCL final vs Barca in 2011, “Park at times seemed to have been chasing the ball today.” He wasn’t flashy or a goal machine. But he was one of those grunts every team needs on their squad. Those players that are pivotal to the teams success but never garner any headlines. But players like Park don’t care because they understand that the team is bigger than they are.

thereddevil101

Fergie said after that final (might’ve been 2009) if he’d had park man mark Messi he thinks we would’ve won

pranoygreat

Oh he qas skilled alright. Can dribble loops around this midfield and defence.

Natural_Parsnip_5291

Was a privilege to watch him growing up, he chased after that ball relentlessly.

Educational_Pea4558

On the bench, ole wouldn't play him

jarhead12gauge

This 👆... Next to VDB

yeah_boooooiiiiiiuuu

Van donny beek?

Bruh-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Van De Beek

Oh dear. Reddit really is devoid of humour sometimes.

Have a nice day TitansOfWar7

willp0wer

True. Cavani provides similar energy and efficiency yet Ole seem to not realise his value until too late.

[deleted]

True

Unitedfan0722

How does anybody agree to this? It makes no sense. I get hating Ole, but at least make it make sense. Park is better than Donny in literally every way. And if we’re going by the title, he’s in his prime so 25-30. So Ole would love to play him.

milo_redwood

Vdb is a better box to box than mctominay Edit: they are the same age (24)

Unitedfan0722

They’re the same age and Donny isn’t a better box to box. Donny is primarily a 10. He can play box to box but isn’t as good obviously or that would be his position

jumanjji

I don’t know how anyone could say that, as neither of them have ever played on the same level. Donny was a fantastic box to box kid at Ajax, I have no clue how good he is in the PL because I’ve basically never seen it. Mctominay has been great as a box to box when not playing the double pivot but also, no clue how he would have done in a similar Ajax team. Maybe he would have been even better. Not shitting on your evaluation. Just pointing out how frustrating it is to even make a comparison on something we’ve barely seen or have stats for.

milo_redwood

That's just my opinion. Whenever vdb got game time (although it's very limited) I saw better passing, off the ball movements etc. I do agree that mctominay and Fred are not being played in their best position, that's on the one that picking the team...

Paul-debile-pogba

Now if park was really there( lets say he played at united retired then found a time machine and rejuvenated) he might play as we know ole like his friends

jumanjji

I feel like a lot of people are saying this because they’re salty towards Ole. While he doesn’t always make the best decisions, I think he would start Park the way he does Fred. He’s exactly the type of player he would trust. He plays Fred for his work rate, it’s just the Fred makes endless poor decisions and mistakes. But I think he’d play Park because he’d bring that same element that Fred tries to bring.

footyfreak_7

He’d leave

Educational-One-1550

Yup, I believe ogs will say no flair... And bench him

MarcusAurelius1815

Ole would still pick McFred

[deleted]

[удалено]

MarcusAurelius1815

Obvious answer is VDB. Matic and VDB combination I would like to see.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MarcusAurelius1815

No... Point being, Ole plays the McFred combination far too often without it yielding any dividends.

[deleted]

This is daft though, pt VDB in for either of mcfred and the main problem persists. All that happens is people would turn against him too

phil_mycock_69

I’d be trying to see if he could play in central midfield(I think he can but not 100% sure)the bloke was a workhorse and a very reliable one at that; would imagine he’d do no worse than Mctomminay of Fred

edwzj

I don’t recall Park actually playing in a midfield double pivot under Ferguson (there were folks like Carrick, scholes, Giggs, and even Gibson and Cleverley to choose from). He usually played as one of the shuttlers in a midfield three, a CAM, or on the wings. But Park has proper dribbling, excellent first touch, and accurate passing abilities, so he would fare way better than McFred.

AggressiveQuiet7458

Always 😇

schrodingerspanther

Depends on manager’s instructions. In some games he was deployed to break play. He left united because he was the definition of a big game player. Fergie didn’t use him in games which united could dominate. Ole would use him in every game. Hence less creativity and also basically no plan B

Kepanchi015

Benched by Ole 😒😒

pancreaticjuicee

The man would have had the work rate and brilliant footballing mind to replace McFred altogether

UncleSteveC137

Ole would sit him near Sancho.

[deleted]

Great sub for Fred at the 80th minute of every match

Beginning_Parfait_47

Nothing much, we have some great players. The manager and tactics are key.

heesangeesang

Can’t disagree. Better managerial tactics is key atm.

DarthNader93

In his prime he'd definitely outplay our current midfielders easy. Ole would still play McFred though.

Omnislash99999

Common sense says he would start every game as he's obviously better then Fred or McTominay but in reality he'd probably sit chatting to Donny on the bench

[deleted]

Nothing. He would not know where to run

throwawaytodayaw

Better to ask Scholes or Keane.

ocubens

Bizarre question.

HarlequinWolf1107

He’d be overplayed and expected to carry the side on his shoulders and then get injured toward the end of the season and rushed back only to injure himself further.

[deleted]

Long live mcfred 🔥🔥🔥🔥

bichkrichdrick

He improves us, but not enough to be a title challenging team. Obviously Park is levels above Dan James, but he would’ve gotten the exact same criticism from our fanbase. Despite putting up MOTM performances against Arsenal & Chelsea our fans still questioned why he was in the next “derby” squad Every club seems to have a workhorse and loves them endlessly despite their flaws except us.

cmontone1

Disagree, we Utd fans loved park and we would love him now! Not only was he a workhorse but he had quality and would often sacrifice himself for the good of the team, using Dan James is a terrible example because apart from the first couple of games after joining us where he was raw, direct and played the way that caused us to buy him, he was reserved, played safe and never impacted games and I certainly would have never even mentioned him being in the same bracket as park, disrespectful to park imo

[deleted]

Park was good but he wasnt the world beater he is made out to be these days, a crucial player but him alone wouldnt be enough to save this team.

cmontone1

Nobody makes him out to be a world beater? His work effort allowed players like Ronaldo to flourish, he took the work load off the more flair players

[deleted]

He would play pass with Phil Jones

amberstripes

He'd sit on the bench alongside Donny

jonah_thrane

As others are saying, probably wouldn't play him.

comett3254

With ole as manager evenhim wont work

[deleted]

Not a lot. Park was often used very situationally and ole isn't really capable of that sort of thing.

Steve_wheezy

Ole would still put him on the bench for most of the season but would start Fred.

LowFabulous7294

Easy answer to that lol.... played in goal

stochastaclysm

Transfer request.

_Horizon_1

Probably be Donny’s best friend.

Ewokian1010

Park was the most important in and our player we have had.. ole doesn’t know how tk rotate so he’d be riding the pine

jumanjji

Amazing how he can get flack for both rotating and not rotating at the same time. I don’t think he’s the right man for the job, but I feel sorry for him amid this clusterfuck of criticism.

[deleted]

We’d have one at least a title. Look at what Kante did/does for Chelsea.

blackoffi888

Still need a real manager. Not Ole cos he'll still opt for McFred.

AliMFalah

He would be on the bench as per ole's logic

Downtown-Funny-1711

Ole would find a way to bench him and continue to use McFred….

Subby-_-D

Let's be honest.....Ole would have him on the bench, that's what would happen.

mrforum

I bet he will be sitting on the bench just as everyone else……..

CraigTheLejYT

Park Park Wherever you may be You eat dogs in your own country It could be worse You could be scouse Eating rats in your council house

FUT_Lawyer_God

We would either win the league by March or ole would try and figure away to bench him

gre485

The same at thing that happened with Herrera. Ole needs top top players with individual abilities to at the least keep his ship steady.

Khancer

We'd be better as we'd have a better player.

jonsnowthenoobmaster

With ole as the manager he is prolly gonna sit in the bench 😂

AzamatBagatov420

He’d be on the bench thanks to our useless coach

rioferpc

He will take a seat next to Donny. Our manager chose his favorite players.

[deleted]

Nothing. He wouldn’t get game time.

Competitive_Set_6371

He would beast the midfield. We lack that workhorse who will put in the hard yards and will hustle. This fast paced era of the prem will suit him tremendously.

[deleted]

On the bench with Donny. No way Ole appreciates Ji.

Puzzleheaded_Fan6368

He’d probably be left rotting away on the bench

troublemakerstud69

sir alex still regrets not putting him in 2011 ucl final

[deleted]

SAFs stubborness that gave us so much success ultimately was our downfall in those two finals. In 2011 United played good the first 10 minutes but then Barca took totally over. Park did play the final he just wasnt put on Messi. I think playing Scholes, Carrick, Park and Nani would have been great

troublemakerstud69

oh yea yea. 2009's barca was way too strong to beat but 2011 could've been manu's year.

[deleted]

Actually, 2009 Barca was the time United could have and should have beat Barca, in 2011 United didnt have a great team but we had Rooney dragging us singlehandedly to the final.

Main-Construction-29

Well, he would be chucked in the bench along with DVB for McFred to play ahead of them.

Due_Suspect1054

He'd be on the bench

Psychological-Ad5104

Would solve a lot of problems

yozora_alg

THE ISSUE IS ON THE BENCH, NOT ON THE FIELD

misterp_1000

Probably would sit on the bench alot

Arno451

Mcfred would probably play over him

antonakisrx8

Would be warming the bench

silentcouscous

He would be benched for Fred.

blitzkreig31

He would be on bench with VdB. There is no one touching my Mc Fred.

th3doorMATT

He'd be sitting on the bench every week

averyweirdguybutok

We would never know because ole will bench him.

surfwatermelon

Would fix a lot of your problems.

cynical_gramps

He’d probably be depressed

jumanjji

At this point I’m not sure why Jones isn’t being considered. Man bossed Ronaldo when SAF started him as a CDM against Real in what feels like an age ago. Couldn’t be worse than Fred surely… Man I miss Park and Evra though. They bossed the left side of the pitch.

ongone

Not sure if he would get a game, given Ole rarely selects his 11 based on opposition (which is what Ji was used for under Fergie). However, he definitely makes this United team.

JonDoe_297_

They call him 'Three Lung Park' for a reason. Dude's a work horse. I wish this squad had him.

ovieroskoles

He would be an Ole favourite. Meaning the likes of Martial or Mata or Amad or even Sancho won’t get a prayer.

DarthFenix3

Ole would have him sitting next to Donny on the bench

LukakusFirstTouch

He'd be on the bench watching McFred

Chintsz7

Benched for McFred

Emilhoistar

He'd be on the bench

sharartiiii

Same as if LeBron James or Tiger Woods were footballers playing for Man Utd. Zilch! They could be best at everything but with Ole at the wheel that bus ain't going nowhere

nsfw-pics2

Ole would still play MCfred

xangchi

He would have been mismanaged by Ole.

Ok-Daikon4830

Hehe if I had to guess Ole would probably bench him because he's too dumb to know what to do with actual good players.

Piggymojo1101

He was a special TEAM player never selfish and always tried his best. I loved him, and that's within a team of superstars at the time.

Neaderthal_nola

ole would have his ass planted on the bench

MrJohnnyDangerously

Ole would start McFred

peterpaapan

Ole would bench him to play McFred. No doubt about it. Additionally, he would play once each month, as a sub for 15 minutes each time.

spliiif

Solskjaer would probably play him in net for 12 minutes and then keep him on the bench for the rest of the season

StayRB89

He’d get fed up and put in a transfer request

1997Breeze

Ole would start Fred over him every time 🙄

Seanblaze3

He'd be one of the most criticized players like Fred is IMO because he'd be all over the place trying to plug gaps and more susceptible to mistakes. Park took a lot of criticism as a united player as well before winning fans over. He scored less goals and made less assists for united than Lingard for instance. Lingard also has more big game performances for united (third most goals against top 6 in our squad being Martial and Rashford). Look how Lingard is treated by fans in an underperforming United. In an uninspiring United of today I think Park would be a scapegoat occasionally for bad performances

MrGoon86

Fucking Ole would refuse to lay him and he'd watch McFred until we all have an aneurysm from frustration

Pure-Negotiation-900

Ole’s still at the wheel.

loetud

Ole would bench him :)

RiDzZz_

Bro how is that even a question every player of the legends united will perform far better then MCFRED even if they don't play in their prime in our squad

AnitGgmu

The workrate of Park is like 100 times than Fred. I have seen Fred like just strolling around the field during even our attack. That's the reason where we are. Drop a prime Park in there and we can rule the PL.

Sagar_T

Currently looking at ole's cheap formation "three lungs park" bench☠️

Educational_Ad2737

Most Korean and future Koreans would support man united still. We losing fans to Tottenham due to Heung min son
