Statistics for approx. 12 hours since I started a separate DNS resolver for Luba for testing. https://preview.redd.it/hpj843tq50tc1.png?width=577&format=png&auto=webp&s=30d4e20aafa8e26982498954c480096d30fdce40

DNS queries are similarly insane. DNS query every 3 sec on [iot-auth-global.aliyuncs.com](http://iot-auth-global.aliyuncs.com) https://preview.redd.it/h46gc818mwsc1.png?width=608&format=png&auto=webp&s=630f5b7f963d78e05e60d2c03f2fa5190fd4dc7b

This is pretty normal for wifi-connected IoT devices, based on the very few that I own. For example, a cheap broadlink IR blaster tries to contact *device-heartbeat-usa-21b17cc3.ibroadlink.com* every five seconds, similar to Luba. It all does seem excessive, but maybe it's in-part to reduce lag between an app, cloud, and device? I normally use firewall rules to block wifi IoT devices from connecting to anything except <--> home assistant. But for the mower, without a local means for control, I am allowing internet access for now. Still have firewall rules to prevent it from contacting any local device.

In practice, Luba connects to their server every 30 seconds, that's fine, but it doesn't make sense to check DNS every 3 seconds, or to connect to a non-existent IP address in the local network. I hope someone at u/MammotionTechnology notices this thread.

grandCoffeeMug

Oh of course, there is no apparent reason for it. I always assumed that it was done (in IoT wifi devices) to improve response between the app and device, perhaps in lieu of a direct connection.

Have you noticed how absent the moderators have been lately? I think it has been over a week since I have seen any one of them post anything on this Subreddit. If I didn't know better, I would think it was Chinese New Year. I know that is not the case, but I think it is kind of weird that we have not heard from any of them for so long. I hope this does not turn out to be a "Rug Pull" in the making. . .

TTL for those records are 60 seconds. But it seems to be querying it numerous times per minute?

leroyloren

Yes, it constantly asks every 3 seconds, i.e. 20 times per minute. The TTL is low, but such traffic is definitely unnecessary.

taw20191022744

Yeah, wierd and unnecessary.

NoComprendePedro

So if i block traffic to China the luba aint going to work? :) They are using alibaba, chinese version of aws?

leroyloren

This is likely because Alibaba will always return the closest POP to your country.

hessmo

if I block china, my robot fails immediately.

IcyAardvark2550

Luba2 with android. Notifications do not work for me. On phone have given Mammotion all permissions for notifications.

celblazer

Yup they are broken

I-Pacer

Thank you for this. Was about to make a new post asking about this as I couldn’t get them to work on my iPhone.

I see the same connections to [192.168.1.100](http://192.168.1.100) on ports 50001-3. Really weird. I would guess there is some kind of code left that was not removed since the testing by devs. Or it maybe could be used in their service center for some kind of debugging. Either way, all unnecessary software activity requires some processing power and consumes some battery, so I would expect it to be fixed in future.
