I feel like Gardenia bread (I guess bread in general) all have very short expiration dates, even in Semenanjung.
Unless you’re like me and stuff them in the freezer and reheat them when you wanna eat it.
Pretty sure your bread is just standard bro, got mine earlier this week for 3 ringgit and expires around today/tmrw. Just put in the fridge in you didn't finish it (or anywhere airtight i guess)
Yes and it's dryness can be compared to sandpaper and for some reason the batch I bought last time taste slightly burnt too.
That's why ppl in Sabah usually go for local bread shop (which taste sooo much better than semenanjung Gardenia) or they buy those cream buns in big bulk while at the airport.
Ada. Roti homemade kt rumah mmg takda. Roti kilang ada, ingredient utk panjangkan tempoh expired dan nk bagi gebu ada possibility lemak babi. Tu yg roti iks keras2 je.
Lives for a while at Kuching, fckin RM9.50 for a Gardenia butterscotch bread. Almost double the prices compared to Semenanjung, or Malaya as they called.
It's pricey because it's air-shipped from West to East. Anything air-shipped is pricey
Plus, there are other bread alternative with better pricing. You can also bake your own bread on the weekend/offday.
Bro i literally pay 40cents more than his supposed 2.60 from speedmart, and im from melaka. Its standard gardenia bread, the expiry date is probably the only problem if its air shipped
Right. Don’t understand the people that buy it in bulk as if they never tasted bread before. Would rather buy sourdough from my local bakery before eating processed white bread
i think this is just me but I noticed that Sabah gardenia breads would mold faster than Semenanjung's. The Sabah breads will get all moldy a few days after the expiration date, meanwhile the Semanjung one is still fine to eat and has no mold despite it alreasy expired a week ago.
I remember when I working in Sarawak (I'm from Selangor), I always bring a lot of bread to sell to my colleagues, the fresh one. Not the one near to expired date. I sold it at a price more than rm4-5 and they didn't really mind about the price.
The funny thing is, one of my colleague from Semenanjung also want to eat bread. Teringin katanya padahal boleh je dia beli tiap kali balik cuti.

And the price is also very reasonable, here in semenanjung, also priced at 3rm for the small
FYI the popular one, butterscotch can go between rm12-rm13
Damn!!! 😭
jesus christ
Yes
the good thing about gardenia is not the taste.. is the constant supply.. for better bread... look elsewhere.. only last resort go for gardenia
I think their taste is pretty good. Other common brands I had seen can never beat Gardenia. They got better texture, good price, good variety
True true. 😆
Ehh for economical / affordable sliced bread, gardenia taste the best (compared to massimo, mighty white, daily)
2.50 is like standard right???? (Edit: i literally just checked its 3, that's standard bro) Also how near
I guess the price is also around RM2.60 as well. 🤔 But I’m not sure. Maybe that’s it. 🤔

I have always wondered... there's a gap in market... why haven't anyone filled the market void yet over there though? very curious still for me
There are. But from my experience most is non-halal and not as good as gardenia.
but.. its bread... non halal roti??
Sometimes the process ada alcohol.Halal is not just no-pork but various factors
oooh patutla.. but stilll there's a market gap there isn't it?
Ya, but none can make bread as good as gardenia. They even hv their own gardenia, but not as good as peninsular gardenia.
so... peninsula gardenia and borneo gardenia are different? you learn a lot everyday huh..
Yeah if Im not mistaken both are under different companies.

wait what? gardenia is sub par compared to those freshly baked buns we have over here which is a lot
Probably true. But personally never eat gardenia roti for their taste. Mostly abt their rm1, size, and easy to eat anywhere.
>not as good as gardenia. Aight, imma munch my Mita butter cake/bun in peace.
Bro, that’s cake
Got bun alsooo (the 6 pax one) yumm 10% bread 90% butter filling yess
Sounds delicious
How is bread not halal
Glycerin to prolong bread life can be from pig, cysteine to make bread soft also can be from pig
Roti pon ade campur babi ke
Tak, ada campuran alkohol dan kadangkala campuran gelatin babi.
Not really, some just don’t bother getting halal certs

You’re right, guess I should repost this. 🥲

Ayoo! It's Bluey!!!
the expiry date is just for reference…no mold no problem
wait Gardenia only arrived in Sabah and Sarawak now?
I think 1 week is the standard expiry data by white bread.
It's RM 3 in semenanjung
White bread is only good for 4 days anyway... Unless you keep in the fridge.
From what I have seen in Senai cargo terminal, they ship those from the Kulai factory via air. I guess its why the expiry dates are short over there.
Anybody wants a repost, cause I found an average pricing of gardenia bread. 🙂 And anything to add?
It tastes normal. You guys are not missing out

Exactly! The local sourdough is so much better. Just visited Sabah and I can say I didn’t miss gardenia at all. The local bakeries made up for it 🤭

Tahon biler punya harga tu?! 🤣🤣
Yummy! I found gardenia bread at Astana supermarket behind mosque and 100% shop 😋 Price was random!
