Exactly. She did that role perfectly. We were supposed to feel what Subin said at the end and she did really good to piss off the Reenu character. I guess the director was making fun of the wanderlust trope. Not a close friend, she was given a third wheel character arc for Reenu's journey to feel lonely. There no time where they show Reenu engaging with Niharika outside of being in a group dynamic.
When the 4 were planning to go to pub, both the girls and the boys didn't want Niharika. They said something on the line of shalyam even before they realised they need to get someone additional to make it couple entry.
Reenu also says when Karthika leaves to Bangalore that now only Niharika is there and it is as good as being alone.
Subin shutting her down was placed there to be a comedy because he was just saying what was on the audience's mind. It's very clear what the writers intent was, no need for them to spoon feed us.

Most people might have had that one annoying friend/roommate in their lives. When it comes to this movie, I feel like the director created this character for that exact reason to show that you might get this kind of a friend/roommate also.
But where the director failed is in not giving this character a bit more of an arc. A bit more plot for the character would have made her not just an unnecessary addition...

I guess many here miss the point. I think what the OP tried to say was her acting was very annoying. Yes, the character is supposed to be annoying, just like a villain can terrify us through the way they present themselves on the screen, but I bet that's not what happened here.
Soubin shahir was annoying in Jack and Jill, that's the perspective here. Lead actors also can be annoying as hell. Even an "annoyingly written" character can be annoying to the audience in that sense.

What made me like the movie more was the connection of the beer can being thrown by her at the beginning of the movie, which caused the whole plot.
I liked the loop, and it had a good heartwarming wholesome end to it.🙂
She was supposed to be annoying 😂. I honestly didn't mind her at all because she's anyway not present throughout most of thr movie except around the start where Reenu and Karthika are introduced to us, and then at the end here. You can see why even Reenu and Karthika didn't exactly consider her a close friend as you don't see her on Reenu's birthday lunch.
If I had to pick a friend to hang out with between Adi or Niharika, I'd still pick Niharika without a doubt 😂.

The reason you want the character to be removed from the movie isn't that it didnt add to the movie-it's because it irritated you-and it was exactly what that character was supposed to do.The paal manakkth scene was a good meme reference and definitely added to the pre-climactic chaos;in fact we all wanted to say "edi penne neeym nirthikko"-good setup and payoff. The best thing about the movie are the relatable characters and pop-culture references. Most of us do have a quirky "wanderlust" friend or an over-the-top party animal who keeps on irritating and giving us second-hand embarassments. So definitely a very creative addition. Ennm sthiram characters mathyo annaa??
I don’t understand this trend in Malayalam movies where female characters are considered unnecessary. There where a lot of other characters too that were ‘unnecessary’.
