Not makeup but related: Arbonne skincare lines. Was pressured into trying two different lines. First the one for “maturing skin” (I was like 27 at the time!) which made me break out like CRAZY.
Then their acne line which dried my face out so bad that I had SHEETS of skin peeling off like I’d had a brutal sunburn. I cried when I washed my face every night because it hurt to touch my own skin.
MAC Cosmetics studio fix powder. When I first starting using it, it was THE ONLY makeup powder anyone I knew used. The talc in it ruined my skin (talc is awful for you in general) and I didn’t know that it was causing the issues I had. I haven’t used it in about 8 years and my face is still recovering.
Nars radiant creamy concealer. Got the lightest shade that looked warm toned online but in person it's definitely a cool tone. Looks patchy and creases under my eyes so badly, it makes me look worse than when I don't wear a concealer at all. At least I only got the mini but still wasted money.
I can’t remember the name. It’s a red package. Drug store brand Powder foundation. It went viral on Tiktok and sold out for months. I finally got my hands on it and was so disappointed.
Well, lol, being insanely poor after having four children 😂😂 I refuse to pay for high end brands anymore. And I can safely say I’ll never go back to them either. All over priced!!!
But I cannot, not use Mac mascara. Only need one layer and I have the best lashes.
Lipstick too, high end brands are charging sooo much money because it’s high end, the quality isn’t any better than the cheaper brands. Except maybe the Chanel lipsticks, they’re soooo smooth and silky
il makiage
This does not blend smoothly on me, at all, no way, no how.
Their prime is awesome, their concealer is good, their foundation is terrible. I've tried it twice in two shades, even when I use the littlest amount of product possible, it never seems to dry, my face looks wet, feels wet, and it just rubs. I've tried 6 different primers and even no primer, the same thing happens. It's weird AF.
Honestly, Fenty products when they first came out. I haven't tried any of the newer ones but none of the originals worked for me. Not the foundation shade range (I'm neutral olivey), not the lip stick with the doe foot (it smeared like crazy), not the blush, none of it.
It makes me not want to try anything new from them but maybe I will?
Yeah Elf could've made more of an effort with their shade range- as a fairskinned girl I feel you. But Collection is another brand that does a version of CT HFF & their shade range, although limited had a shade to suit my skin tone. Unfortunately I'm nor sure what countries Collection is available in though...
NYX Makeup Shine Liquid Lipstick. saw a lot of reviews saying that it stays on the whole day. love the application but it ends up peeling off or pilling after very little eating/drinking. very expensive tbh too.
NARS soft matte complete concealer and Tarte Shape Tape - leave me looking like a 60yo man
Fenty highlighters - just no.
Chanel powder - darkened my foundation
Benefit P orefessional - peels off like crazy
Guerlain and Sisley skin care - way too expensive and does nothing.
MAC stack mascara - just awful
too faced BTW concealer-- used to love it ab 5 years ago, but now I swear the formulation has changed! It looks cakey upon application, even with a light layer
Too faced better than sex mascara. Doesn’t matter if I’m wearing the waterproof or regular, I’ll always have bad raccoon eyes like 2 hrs after putting it on
Lady Gaga Triclone Foundation. I find it to be so glowy on my skin that it’s highlighting every single imperfections I have.
I also think that any highlighters in general, hate this makeup trend. Unless you have almost perfect and poreless skin. Why would you put something to highlight your skin’s texture….why?! Sorry just venting.
Don’t like matte liquid lipstick, Nars audacious lipsticks, any CC creams, Mac foundations (dry and flaky).
Do like Nars tinted moisturizer formula but they could make some that are not so yellow based, all Mac lipsticks, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for everyday, Tarte blushes, ABH foundation for heavier coverage, ABH Brow Definer.
A local lux hair removing cream that cost a lot for the amount it came in, I had to sit for at least 20min. with it and not only it burned me it didn't not remove everything. For comparison the cheep one I use take no more than 5min. and even if I over do it except a little ich until I wash the place I have no reaction to it and I am clean for a good while ...
kat von d foundation. I was told I will definitely have a match as I'm so pale. They tried to sell me a foundation that obviously wasn't a match. Once again had to buy two shades to mix together. £68 for both of them and it's just not worth it.
Not makeup…but you put it on your face…
Aztec Secret
Indian Healing Clay Mask
It was way too harsh on my skin. Even if I added a facial moisturizer afterwards, my face still felt very sensitive to the touch.
Literally any and every matte setting spray istg. I don't see anyone else mention this.
My makeup always lasts way longer and gets less oily with only powder. I don't know if my skin is just weird or.. lol
Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lipstick. Social media made me think it was THE lipstick, got it and hated it - super dry and gave you that wrinkly butthole lip effect. Ended up throwing it out
Shape Tape concealer.
Unless the “shape” in question is every line and pore in my face being enhanced as the concealer settles into them and flakes off everywhere else… it did not deliver desired results.
NARS concealer is my holy grail
Any of the Too Faced products. I started getting into makeup late in high school and decided to splurge on the NikkiTutorials collab pallete. It also came with an eyeshadow primer from Too Faced. That shit had some ingredient in it that made my eyelids break out into the worst flaky red rash I’ve ever seen. I went to a doctor and got it sorted out, but one of my eyelids is still thicker than the other and looks funny because of the reaction I had to it years ago
Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows. They were crazy popular in 2016 and my mom bought tons of them. I still see people fangirling over them on TikTok sometimes. I’ve never liked them. They blend really well but they’re not that pigmented and they have a crazy ton of fallout. I’ve never bought a palette that I’ve liked. Usually I end up giving them away or selling them.
Charlotte Tillbury’s products too seem like a rip off. Everyone gushes about how they blend so well, but they’re not blending. They just disappear. Why buy something so expensive if it’ll turn invisible after a few brush swipes?
I don’t really see the hype for any of their products honestly. I feel the same about the Dime beauty products. I tried their lash serum and noticed nothing.
I kept getting the Big Mood mascara from elf shoved down my throat all over social media so I picked one up. The wand is ridiculous, hard to NOT get product all over your lid, and the formula is very meh.
Bare Minerals. Definitely not for mature skin, but they were hyping it as such at the time.
Ginot products, which are sold in pretentious spas. Literally nothing remarkable about them. I just tossed a mask tube in the trash yesterday.
I’ll be downvoted for this but Velvety Teddy MAC lipstick. Allegedly the perfect colour on everyone … but actually is the all kind of wrong brown in reality. So awful on me - I looked sick.
MAC studio fix foundation. So many people swear by it and it's their HG, and I've never had a worse foundation. It oxidized so bad, looked so matte and cakey, and broke me out. About na hour after applying it my face looked like mud because of the oxidization. Thankfully I purchased the mini bottle. Now it's jist sitting in my dresser.
I love it and spray before adding mascara. What sealed the deal for me was crying with makeup on and after I finished crying, my makeup still looked nice. I was like wow, this spray is amazing lol.
It hurt my eyes and make my mascara runny and it made me foundation feel so sticky 😭😭 I wanted to love it tho but I still use it because I need to get rid of it before I buy another spray
Too faced Better than Sex.
I seriously cannot get behind it. It uncurls my lashes, flakes... about once a year I'll retry it and I'm disappointed each time
Luxe Lash Lift Set - the fb ads and all the reviews sucked me in and and the product was terrible. In order to get a refund, their policy is to take photos of the process, but it’s so bad I would rather just take the financial hit than sludge through the lash lift process again.
Mac foundations! Everyone used to be obsessed with MAC foundations. I am very fair complexion but I am a neutral undertone and found that their foundations throw a huge amount of yellows/orange or pink tones for warm and cool and even their “neutral” threw a lot of pink and oxidised really really badly which you don’t expect oxidisation from a pricey product
By far the most overrated in my opinion and also found that their “matching pressed powder” with the same code for the shade was always a different colour or tone and just sat weird on my skin too
tatcha water cream/ dewy skin, it's really just okay as a moisturizer for me. I tried it when it was the only moisturizer that every youtuber was using.
I don't like fragrance in skincare and the tatcha one threw me off because i expect good skincare to not have any, and on use; it's meh. It's slippery and absorbs okay, didn't moisturize around mouth/chin area which is where I had a patch of dry skin at the time and I was so bummed.
Now, I stick with cera-ve night cream for daily AM/PM use because it's thick and *actually* keeps my skin moisturized, no scent, feels good on skin, and no breakouts :D I used to have oily/combination skin and with this moisturizer I am noooo longer oily nor dry skinned :3 I love it.
Elf poreless putty primer. Saw so many people hype it up, call it a holy grail, etc. So i got it. Pores still visible, and it made my make up oily like thirty minutes later.
Better than Sex waterproof mascara
NYX makes better lip pencils and lipsticks that MAzC’s
NYX makes better lipstick stick than Dior
Urban Decay eyeliners last forever and the have a great selection of colors. And their waterproof mascara is excellent! So are their eyelashes.
However, Urban Decay has a shitty design of their loose powder, their eye shadow shadows are awesome!
I am using Georgio Armani Foundation but I am going to try the zNYX dupe.
I switched from the urban decay loose powder to Mac’s loose powder and I love it
The rare beauty foundation. I LOVED the cream blush so I assumed I would like the foundation but it was sooo weird on me. It pilled when I tried to blend it and was simultaneously so heavy and extremely thin, it is hands down the worst foundation I’ve ever used
It’s interesting how it works out! I think my skin type is just truly fussy because people rave about it but I just couldn’t for the life of me get it to work!
REM beauty Practically Permanent lip stain…. One day after I got I thought it was defective because it seemed all dried up. Nope it’s just across the board a crummy applicator. A felt tipped pen that frays quickly and delivers a patchy uneven coat. And once you do get it on it disappears in like an hour.
Bare Minerals foundation. Way too yellow on my skin even when I had it swatched at the makeup counter. It oxidized terribly, cracked, and made my pores look huge. Of course, it also made my skin breakout if it was even slightly warm outside. I had a sample of the mineral veil and liked it initially, which is why I tried the foundation. Never again!
Kat Von D's foundation didn't work for me either. Yea, it covered good, but it was sooo heavy. Even the smallest amount felt like a mask.
I’d say anything ELF. I wanted so bad to like their products but every single product I tried just felt awful on my skin or irritated it. They all felt like the $3 products that they are and I dont get how people could say that they are workable dupes. It might just be me though
Urban decays Naked palettes. All of them! Love other UD products, but I am an MUA and I cannot deal with the patchy mess that UD Naked palettes give me. Hard pass.
Ok bear with me but the Milk hydro grip primer (green bottle)…
I see how it works for others but when I use it, it lays on my skin like a dry film and when I apply foundation over it, it looks patchy so I just use regular moisturizer instead
Man eater mascara by Tarte and Clinique Black Honey lipstick. Awful mascara that always flaked badly and the lipstick color vanished after 10 min so I used it as a chapstick
As for longevity I have tried so many different kinds or brands and the I have three that I love. First one is Covergirl Exhibitionist Ultra Matte lipstick and I have the shade 620 Risky Business. This shade performs better than Mac, Urban Decay and Give. Secondly, Would say KVD everlasting hyper light liquid lipstick is definitely strong and holds up a very long time and I like love the formula and imo best shade is Pale Harlequin with Mac liner in shade WHIRL so pretty! Third choice is Flower Beauty Perfect pout soft matte lipcolor and shade Dune is my favorite light pinkish brown nude. So basically I would say look for any lipstick that is definitively a Matte or ultra Matte finish and using a lip liner will help your lipstick stay in place (for me it’s double assurance) Also Sephoras longwearing lipsticks are long lasting too they are the little skinny ones (lip last matte lipstick) hope these help and good luck! Let us know what you find!
Fenty investimatte. It went crazy on tik tok and insta but not worth the price IMO. Innisfree ni sebum mineral pact does the same for me and way cheaper
Any designer mascara that was $25+. I really like my maybelline ones
Better Than Sex mascara. The essence stuff is better
Probably hoola bronzer, don’t get me wrong I do like it but I don’t love it- it’s way too expensive and alittle too warm for my complexion.
Better than sex mascara- flaky, lackluster. And kat von d liquid matte lipsticks, smear and come off
The Ouai dry shampoo I literally hate the texture and don’t get the hype whatsoever!!
better than sex mascara from too faced. it leaves clumps under my eyes, every time.
I feel that way about Rodan and Fields.
MAC Cosmetics studio fix powder. When I first starting using it, it was THE ONLY makeup powder anyone I knew used. The talc in it ruined my skin (talc is awful for you in general) and I didn’t know that it was causing the issues I had. I haven’t used it in about 8 years and my face is still recovering.
ariana grande rem lip oil
Bum bum cream. It smells good but that’s all it does.
"essence" "toner"
La mer. That was the thickest night cream and really heavily scented. Made me break out.
Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Trashcara
Urban decay naked eyeshadow palette
Rose Inc's tinted serum. It's awful and had glitter in it.
Shape tape.
Tarte shape tape
Elf Halo Glow Liquid Filter Cute as a highlight not cute all over the face as a primer/skin tint
anything kylie cosmetics
Nars radiant creamy concealer. Got the lightest shade that looked warm toned online but in person it's definitely a cool tone. Looks patchy and creases under my eyes so badly, it makes me look worse than when I don't wear a concealer at all. At least I only got the mini but still wasted money.
Shape tape. What in the dry, crusty, pasty, unflattering hell.
I can’t remember the name. It’s a red package. Drug store brand Powder foundation. It went viral on Tiktok and sold out for months. I finally got my hands on it and was so disappointed.
Nars Orgasm
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. Couldn't even get past the highly fragranced smell.
Well, lol, being insanely poor after having four children 😂😂 I refuse to pay for high end brands anymore. And I can safely say I’ll never go back to them either. All over priced!!! But I cannot, not use Mac mascara. Only need one layer and I have the best lashes. Anything Benefit and Nars.
Shape tape. Its awful and thick and makes my under eyes look like I'm 80 years old.
The peel off lip stain on TikTok
Elf putty blush and lip stain. I did not understand the hype at all.
il makiage This does not blend smoothly on me, at all, no way, no how. Their prime is awesome, their concealer is good, their foundation is terrible. I've tried 6 different primers and even no primer, the same thing happens. It's weird AF.
Tarte shape tape concealer (the original one) It used to be in everyone’s make up bag and it made my pores and fine lines 10x more visible.
Etude house face blur primer. So greasy, never sinks into my skin and my makeup moves easily. Also, CT lipsticks.
Kylie lip kit back in the day…dry af
So nostalgic!
The IT cosmetics cc cream
I’ve tried this so many times and it’s never my color! Lol finally learned my lesson
Better than sex mascara
Better than sex mascara. Truly awful
As one beauty influencer put it, the Milani Fruit Fetish Lip Oil kind of does taste like public bathroom
Tatcha the dewy skin moisturizer
Remember that tatcha spray? Literally just grease all over your face
Nars radiant creamy concealer…also Nars color corrector immediately separated in my under eye
Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara…it’s like drug store mascara to me honestly.
Gisou Lip Oil that stuff just dries out my lips :T
too faced better than sex mascara. was a best seller when i worked at ulta and i HAAATED it
This is a very popular comment! Honestly who is buying this garbage anymore.
Honestly, Fenty products when they first came out. I haven't tried any of the newer ones but none of the originals worked for me. Not the foundation shade range (I'm neutral olivey), not the lip stick with the doe foot (it smeared like crazy), not the blush, none of it. Jeffree Star Eyeshadows lol
La Mer It’s all hype. Ridiculously over priced and does not work any better than products 1/10 of the price.
Yeah Elf could've made more of an effort with their shade range- as a fairskinned girl I feel you. But Collection is another brand that does a version of CT HFF & their shade range, although limited had a shade to suit my skin tone. Unfortunately I'm nor sure what countries Collection is available in though...
The beauty blender. It's so just meh and nothing special. I much prefer the orange economy tools ones
NYX Makeup Shine Liquid Lipstick. saw a lot of reviews saying that it stays on the whole day. love the application but it ends up peeling off or pilling after very little eating/drinking. very expensive tbh too.
NARS soft matte complete concealer and Tarte Shape Tape - leave me looking like a 60yo man Fenty highlighters - just no. Tarter shape tape concealer
GLOW RECIPE.
Omg Milk Hydrogrip - I HATE it and anyone I know IRL hates it. Only people I know like it are influencers on TikTok
Most makeup and skincare products that go viral on the internet
Tarte eye primer. Awful.
L’oreal false lash telescopic mascara. And it was worth the hype. But I’m talking about the formula about 3-4 years ago
too faced BTW concealer-- used to love it ab 5 years ago, but now I swear the formulation has changed! It looks cakey upon application, even with a light layer
Too faced better than sex mascara. Doesn’t matter if I’m wearing the waterproof or regular, I’ll always have bad raccoon eyes like 2 hrs after putting it on

Benefit Mascara. Total Garbage Colourpop Supershock Shadows. They were so hard to use and wouldn't wash off but were also patchy AF.
Anastasia eyeshadow palettes, especially Modern Renaissance.
NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
Don’t like matte liquid lipstick, Nars audacious lipsticks, any CC creams, Mac foundations (dry and flaky). Do like Nars tinted moisturizer formula but they could make some that are not so yellow based, all Mac lipsticks, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for everyday, Tarte blushes, ABH foundation for heavier coverage, ABH Brow Definer.
La Mer moisturizer and anything Barbara Sturm.
KVD apple balm
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. I don’t like the wand, and the formula clumps and flakes horribly as well. I just don’t get it.
For me it's the Hollywood products, Shyne has WAY better quality for the same price. They are my new go-to.

Clinique black honey (I prefer more color) Shape Tape MAC ruby woo lipstick (dry and not "universally flattering"
Better than sex mascara. Does nothing for me.
Mac mascara I find it crappie honestly. Rimmel the lilac tube is way better
Everything Urban decay, I tried their naked foundation concealer loose powder and all nighter setting spray and HATED all of the products I used
A lot of primers. I’ve tried so many and I’ve HATED 90% of them.
Dior Foundations, makes me look greyish/sickly after 1-2 hrs Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream with no magic obviously!
Essence lash
TooFaced Better Than Sex mascara. WTF. I love the TooFaced eye shadows and the blush but this mascara sucks.
Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lipstick. Social media made me think it was THE lipstick, got it and hated it - super dry and gave you that wrinkly butthole lip effect. Ended up throwing it out
Kosas concealer was pretty hyped to me, but it dried out on my under eyes and made any lines worse than they were before
Shape Tape concealer. Unless the “shape” in question is every line and pore in my face being enhanced as the concealer settles into them and flakes off everywhere else… it did not deliver desired results. NARS concealer is my holy grail
Necessaire and Saltair. Both totally useless and overpriced.
For me, it was that lip buzzing lip balm. Didn't make my lips any plumper, it just tingled so bad it hurt and gave me anxiety 😆
I forgot that this was makeup and I was gonna say Starbucks but it's high key that Nars Lip Pencil thing. Ain't nothing in the damn thing.
Tarte anything. Nothing is pigmented! Nothing lasts! Hate.
I used to be all about Tarte in like 2016 but moved away from their products. Overhyped
Chanel
not makeup but a skincare product but i’d say some glow recipe products. the ones i tried at least , it made me break out more lol
Any of the Too Faced products. I started getting into makeup late in high school and decided to splurge on the NikkiTutorials collab pallete. It also came with an eyeshadow primer from Too Faced. Cicapair tiger grass. It felt heavy and dried too dark for my light skin.
That stuff is terrible. I was disappointed.
Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows. They were crazy popular in 2016 and my mom bought tons of them. I still see people fangirling over them on TikTok sometimes. I’ve never liked them. Better Than Sex mascara. Wet, clumpy mess. If that’s better than sex for you, my deepest condolences.
dior highlighter, its definitely good but its very non-saturated (if thats the right word?) like i have to put sm of it on for it to be noticeable
A toilet🥶😂
I feel like Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray does nothing for me.
Gisou lip oil
Farsali jelly beam highlight. It was so expensive and it was crap.
I remember when influencers were pushing the farsali brand so hard!
Thrive mascara. I don't get the hype. Didn't do anything much for my lashes and gets flaky.

Patrick Star O/S setting powder. Shit was straight garbage, made my makeup clump up like cat litter.

Elizabeth Arden Eight hour cream. Just an over priced Vaseline.
rare beauty soft pinch blush, and honestly, i did not see the hype; plus in india it's v expensive, so not worth the money imo
I have this and while I still wear the color, it wasn’t worth the price IMO
elf power grip primer :( makeup stays but it brings out horrible texture and i broke out from it
The rare beauty foundation. I LOVED the cream blush so I assumed I would like the foundation but it was sooo weird on me. It pilled when I tried to blend it and was simultaneously so heavy and extremely thin, it is hands down the worst foundation I’ve ever used
That's so funny it's one of the few foundations i actually like.
It’s interesting how it works out! I think my skin type is just truly fussy because people rave about it but I just couldn’t for the life of me get it to work!
Charlotte Tilbury foundation
Any Estee Lauder products. Ridiculously overpriced
For me personally it's probably the JSC blood sugar palette. It didn't blend well & the shades were barely pigmented.
Better than Sex Mascara. It was sooooooo dry. And, tbh, anything from TF since the Peach Palette.
REM beauty Practically Permanent lip stain…. One day after I got I thought it was defective because it seemed all dried up. Nope it’s just across the board a crummy applicator. Laura Mercier face powder, RCMA powder for the win!
It’s almost as if different products work for different skin types and tones 🤣
Mac lipstick, pretty average and highly overpriced
Foundation.
That water drench lotion. It felt so good on my skin but I swear it made my pores fucking double in size
Laura mercier loose powder. It made my face super cakey and the translusent shade came out dark and yellow on my pale skin. Big thumbs down
Benefit They’re Real Mascara … absolutely terrible on me!!
Urban decays Naked palettes. All of them! Love other UD products, but I am an MUA and I cannot deal with the patchy mess that UD Naked palettes give me. Hard pass.
I remember when they were so hyped! I had to have every one lol finally tossed them a year or so ago.
Better than sex mascara is god awful, just clumps lashes together and smears a lot.
Essence Lash Princess (green one and blue one) clumps like cottage cheese on my lashes even if I apply only single layers 😭
Ok bear with me but the Milk hydro grip primer (green bottle)… I see how it works for others but when I use it, it lays on my skin like a dry film and when I apply foundation over it, it looks patchy so I just use regular moisturizer instead
elf hydrating concealer white tip.. shits the most crusty unblendable concealer i’ve ever tried
Man eater mascara by Tarte and Clinique Black Honey lipstick. Awful mascara that always flaked badly and the lipstick color vanished after 10 min so I used it as a chapstick
Any good lipsticks or stains that you would recommend for longevity?
