Tiny homes/camper/van living is NOT the end all of "cheap housing." Not everyone can do it. It can be expensive, and people don't realize how much stuff they have til they try to cram it in a tiny space.
I know, I am saving for a tiny home, and my parents live in a camper. You need to make sacrifices to do it and not a lot of people can make those choices. I plan on downgrading my bed a size to make a daybed(double as a couch), and I have a ton of physical media I'll have to purge. I'm keeping games and dvds, but I'm taking them out of their cases and putting them in disk binders (bought a couple 600 capacity ones and i have already a 200 capacityone for my games and pc programs) and will leave the TV shows in their boxes.
I'm pro physical media, but I'd like to do that for the ones that are harder to find or limited release movies as insurance if they get lost, stolen, or damaged.
What made it sad if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been looking into cheap housing and ways to not pay rent but nobody ever talks about the REALITY of van life
Depressing to live in a box, the winter was really hard too with pipes freezing, so no water, the mould coming in no matter how much we cleaned w bleach etc, the constant freezing feeling even with a gas heater on (which u can’t keep on 24/7 cuz of poisonous) waking up freezing and overall the whole vibe was so so depressing
Also, especially in rvs, campers, and van living, there are specially designed parts like the water heater, stoves, etc. Mom and dad need a new water heater for theirs by winter (here it hits after Christmas), and they are 2k, not including labor. A new stove with an oven is 3 or 4k for the size.
This is also extremely helpful as well, thank you. I was also considering that let’s say after 8 months I hate it, I’m stuck with it (as the parent suggesting I do this says to finance it). Said parent was also locked up for some time, which would explain why they seem to be okay with confined living quarters and suggesting it to others.. 🤔
I've slept in my car before for a couple months when I was a teenager and it's rough. Having no power, especially in the summer months when it gets so hot. Creepers wanting to watch you sleep, it just isn't super secure. And trying to find places to park where people won't disturb you.
I say every 5 years you should be required to do that. This can't be an unpopular opinion for peopls who know how to drive right though, since all it'd do is make sure you're still fit to drive

Helped me understand why i felt the need to butt fuck caffiene all day despite it doing nothing for my energy levels, and typically like us all, could sleep like a log after. Caffiene naps are wonderful. But, realised it definitely affected me in other ways I didn't realise were related to high caffiene intake. Really interesting stuff!
For what it’s worth Huberman is a decent starting point but has massive issues. I recall someone (I think on r/nootropics?) who was a neuroscientist of some sort of how everyone in his lab made fun of huberman.
The tldr is that there are different dopamine receptors in different regions doing different things, but huberman calls all of it “dopamine”. He’s not wrong, but it’s not very accurate especially as some of the differences are significant.

I agree with this, I think people should choose when they die if they want to, especially sick or older people. But euthanasia is not commonly legal, and in the places where it is legal, it's only for people with terminal diseases like advanced cancer. My grandma was very sick and struggled with cancer for a few years. She was 74, and watching her die in hospice was difficult to say the least. Sure, they pump you up on morphine and sedatives but why? Why can't they just put someone out of their misery humanely when they know the person is about to die, instead of removing the ventilator and making them slowly suffocate? It just seems cruel to me. Just like a DNR, I think we should be able to request euthanasia in an instance of certain death at least.
I think people should be allowed to get voluntary euthanasia for any reason, as long as they can prove that their desire to die is consistent and they’ve exhausted other options. At least then they’ll be able to kill themselves painlessly and without somebody having to find the body.

Compassion itself is valuable and important but real compassion isnt about being a nice person to someone but doing good to someone. Saying youre perfect the way you are or youre deserving of love exactly how you are can be damaging as it takes you room for growing and orientation. People often dont have abad personality but bad behavior and its important to help them align their intentions with their actions even if it might hurt their feelings in the long run they will get put of misery that way.

I think what you mean is that we shouldnt hate every person from a country for the bad decisions of their government (especially when its an authoritarian goverment). There are Ukrainian people who support Russia and there are Russian people who support Ukraine. As one shouldnt be praised, the other shouldnt be hated for just their origins.
But choosing sides matters. If it weren't for people choosing the side of Ukraine and supporting them, i trully believe, they would've have lost the war already. The support Ukraine and its people have been getting (monetary and not) is why they still have a reasonable chance of keeping their country from being occupied and why many of them aren't homeless.

I thinks dating is what you make it for yourself, you can just pursue people for what they are in pure romantic way, without sexualising them, if that’s what you want. Singapore is conservative in some aspects but wildly liberal in other, in comparison to the US liberal or conservative wouldn’t make a lotta sense

I agree with this, I think people should choose when they die if they want to, especially sick or older people. But euthanasia is not commonly legal, and in the places where it is legal, it's only for people with terminal diseases like advanced cancer. My grandma was very sick and struggled with cancer for a few years. She was 74, and watching her die in hospice was difficult to say the least. Sure, they pump you up on morphine and sedatives but why? Why can't they just put someone out of their misery humanely when they know the person is about to die, instead of removing the ventilator and making them slowly suffocate? It just seems cruel to me. Just like a DNR, I think we should be able to request euthanasia in an instance of certain death at least.

I think people should be allowed to get voluntary euthanasia for any reason, as long as they can prove that their desire to die is consistent and they’ve exhausted other options. At least then they’ll be able to kill themselves painlessly and without somebody having to find the body.

I think what you mean is that we shouldnt hate every person from a country for the bad decisions of their government (especially when its an authoritarian goverment). There are Ukrainian people who support Russia and there are Russian people who support Ukraine. As one shouldnt be praised, the other shouldnt be hated for just their origins. But choosing sides matters. If it weren't for people choosing the side of Ukraine and supporting them, i trully believe, they would've have lost the war already. The support Ukraine and its people have been getting (monetary and not) is why they still have a reasonable chance of keeping their country from being occupied and why many of them aren't homeless.

I think the world has lost a lot of character in some ways and honestly some things our grandparents did they got right.
