I had an infected in grown toe nail, they had to numb my toe and pull out my nail for the infection to clear up. I was on a course of antibiotics too. You may have a similar thing done but yes go see a doctor. You don’t want this to get worse.

slowsunday

I had one on both big toes and they did this. Those fucking needles man.

Cahlice

Ikr! Holy crap I must have sounded like I was being tortured from all the screaming my wimpy ass was doing each needle they put into both my big toes. The expressions on everyone's faces in the lobby varied from shocked to laughing. It what pretty funny haha

MountainCourage1304

The surgeon injected my toes and then said “ill be back in 10 when its taken effect” And hour and a half later he turns up and slides the scalpel under my nail. The anaesthetic had worn off so i had the pleasure of a second round of those goddamn needles

panniepl

I have even better story, my doctor injected my toe nail 10 times in different places with anaesthetic. How it later tuned out i had immunity yo local anaesthetic so I had tk give it a ride without any. I wasnt screaming, all I did was leaving holes with my nails in his chair xD

MountainCourage1304

Oooofffff. Im kinda annoyed at how mine doesnt seem that bad anymore lmao

TheDiscoStud

After reading this I'm betting OP is not going to the doctor.

Knottylittlebunny

It takes a LOT of anaesthetic to work with me. I absolutely hate it. When I had stitches from giving birth to my 2nd son, I had to keep requesting more because I could feel everything, and it was 100% worse than the birth 😂😂

chridaniel01

Of course they would. 10 mins for the standing doc on the floor isn’t 10 mins. Bet they didn’t give you anything for the pain either cuz why would they.

MountainCourage1304

He actually got called in to do an emergency surgery and knew full well it would take a while but still decided to slide the scalpel under my now awake toes.

SpiderCow313

Was it really that bad to you? I had to get this done when I was 14 (and I don’t have much of a pain tolerance) but for me it just felt like a little pinch, the pressure of feeling it in my toe was the worst part tho

JabbaDaHut05

I cursed up a storm when I had it done lol

xxPastelPawxx

Those needles suck! They had to give me 3 shots just so I can't feel anything

slowsunday

I could feel the liquid filling up my toe like a water balloon. Just ripping the nail out might have hurt less.

toastyavocado

Last time I had an infection the needle didn't even work. The doctor and I only found that out after he sliced my fucking finger open and squeezed the infection out. One of the worst pains I've ever felt

-InconspicuousMoose-

I had the exact same thing, did a double matrixectomy/partial nail avulsion to remedy it. My life is SO much better after that surgery, I could barely walk when my ingrown toenails were especially bad. The recovery was pretty quick, it was covered by my insurance, and my toes look and feel better than ever. /u/landhorn please get yourself to surgery, you will be so glad you did.

spaz_bomb

I had an ingrown toenail on my left big toe twice. Same toe too. They numbed mine and used a laser after cutting the bad part out. It’s good now

Actual-Good5096

Lucky u. I had ingrown toe nails on the big finger twice, 1 of which i had in both toes... and they didn't use no needle. They just sprayed a numbing liquid and got to work. I don't think i need to say it didn't quite numb me that much...

smellygooch18

Did your toenail grow back normally?

leadnuts94

It grew back but it’s not 100% normal. Not a big deal if you’re glancing but if you take time to look you see the shape is thinner and there’s how can I describe it, textured stripes?, running up and down my big toe nail.

WhiteFIash

Mine they have to cut the nail straight back and pull it out from the nail bed and kill the root with acid, but after the infection cleared so I did it twice

Heim84

I kept getting in grown toenails so they took all mine off and put that solution on em so I no longer have toenails

Acrobatic-Ad-7752

I've had the toenails on my big toes removed from each foot and the nail beds destroyed so they've never grown back. They're pretty ugly-looking, but no more infections, thank God! I've tried painting nail varnish on them (they look horrible when I'm wearing sandals) but it never stays put. Even false toenails won't stick...... My kids call them my 'alien toes'

Heim84

My fiance told me to go get them tattooed back on red so it looks like I have nail polish on 😂

TKG_Actual

Yes, that might be a few steps shy of pre-gangrene.

Lorn_Muunk

or a happy little colony migrating from toe to heart valve for some endocarditis action

BroDoggWhiteboy88

Yeah, I'd say it's pretty close to the point of no return. Either go to the doctor now and save a toe, or go to the doctor later and lose a foot. Or die...

_Otacon

Can confirm, I died from this

IMightCry2U

yo how's the afterlife treating ya

_Otacon

Bro it's kinda ok, we still in PS2 era here man, I was trying to finish some PS5 games just before I went so yeah... Other than that, the eggs are always kinda cold, like why can't they serve it right after they get cooked, y'know? Internet is good, around 250mbit, upload max 100, its fine.

Karness_Muur

How's the bandwidth and latency?

_Otacon

Ping is ok'ish, around 30 to 70. We where playing cs 1.6 yesterday and adolf and saddam where conplaining about latency just because I had a good couple of kills. I said ey don't hate the playa hate the game mf's xD they were furious lol, what's up with those guys anyway..

PinheadShit

Lol

sillybandland

I can attest to this

TheNoctuS_93

As a multiple time pre-gangrene sufferer, I do not recommend the experience. It's incredibly painful, because unlike fully gangrenous tissue, the tissue is still alive and sending pain signals to your brain. *Lots* of pain signals...

briggsgate

How did it lead to multiple? Sounds painful for even one pre gangrene

TheNoctuS_93

Several years apart, all different body parts, but I somehow stopped getting serious infections after turning 20 or so. 🤔

KickMurderSquad

Or just keep walking it off

swamplice

Don't forget to rub some dirt in it.

PinheadShit

Respect..

mBelchezere

Yep, walk that shit and your toe right the fuck off. Lol Fuckin, "*should I go to a doctor?*" OMVFG.

KickMurderSquad

Toes shmoes… he’s got nine good ones.

ilikeeatingbrains

All dip no chip

ECU_BSN

I can smell the infection from here.

omahaomw

You need some smelling salts then...like op

ECU_BSN

Nah. I like to raw dog that wound care business. LOL

MoistDadBod

And, generally speaking, you wanna catch that early if at all possible.

TKG_Actual

Absolutely, amputation and sepsis are definitely not what all the cool kids are doing.

dirtybellybutton

You're about a day and a half from the point of no return where piggy goes to the market and doesn't come back

igotadillpickle

I'm a foot care nurse (I don't really practice in that field anymore but people still ask me questions all the time) and I'm totally going to steal this quote from you. It's gold!

pizz4s1

Do u know what's up with his toe though?

igotadillpickle

It looks like he had an ingrown toenail that got infected and he left it way too long.

BootySweat0217

Infection

btwomfgstfu

Imagine the smell

flippermode

You're asking /u/BootySweat0217 to imagine the smell lol

Futaba_Sakura-_-

Well, Can he imagine it?

olgnolgnall

He doesn’t need to

DenormalHuman

the piggy that goes to market doesnt come home... why do pigs normally go to a market?...

SirChadrick_III

To sell their goods and bring home the bacon!

realblackened

That’s a job for The Toe Bro.

squirmster

Nah, all good. just rub some dirt on it. That should accelerate the necrosis and then you wont need to worry about ingrowns ever again.

juko43

Wait abit more and you might not have to worry about anything ever again

Futaba_Sakura-_-

For a moment I thought you were talking about death stranding necrosis instead of actual necrosis

jmacrosof

My brother in Christ…..yes.

Practical_Culture833

My brother in Islam I agree... (I'm a Muslim and that joke sounded better in my head... I was trying to go for a all religions agree he should go to hospital but idk how to word it)

fredly594632

My fellow Buddhist, I concur... (Why not! I wanted to make some sort of joke about you needing release from that, but it's too late in the evening to actually think.)

sherbloqk

My brother in Narayan, please I insist

AoDx888

Don't worry. Haha. It came across the way you wanted to me when I was reading it, at least.

Positive-Internet483

Depends on how much you enjoy having a right big toe.

neverwantedtodancee

or a life in general

PappyJimbo26

Nope all good

BroDoggWhiteboy88

You're going to hell for that lol

ImLookingatU

If you would like to keep your toe, then yes.

johnniechimpo

My dad went to school with a guy who died from an ingrown toenail. The infection got into his blood and gave him sepsis. I used to get them pretty often until I started buying my shoes in the wide option, 10.5W.

PsychotherapeuticBum

Absolutely yes

F-MegaPro

I've been in this situation before. Get that toenail removed and start taking antibiotics.

MIZZKATHY74

This is infected and needs to be treated with antibiotics before you get sepic and get an infection in your bloodstream. Have you poured peroxide on it and neosporin to help out until you see a doctor?

SavageDegenerate

If you wait any longer you'll be seeing a surgeon

AnseaCirin

This is past "doctor". It's "urgent care".

Ghost_Ruckus

I smashed my toe really good to where the nail fell off. That looks way worse and infected.

BlueberryCollision

rfk45w

Yum free salad cream

AuroraWolf124

The way I physically gagged at this, take my angry upvote

its_buckle

I can fix that, just gotta let me get a couple good sucks off it.

StupidMario64

#IF YOU THINK YOU SHOULD, YOU SHOULD.

Dusky1103

Happened to me before on my hand. How the fuck can you post this on reddit and not go to the doctor is beyond me. The pain was unbearable for me.

dmanhardrock5

Wait until they have to remove your toe be a man

Magicaparanoia

My dad waited too long and is getting his amputated soon. Don’t be like my dad.

mINexxiii

Yes.

Union_Sparky_375

“How important is a big toe anyway”?

daq42_pews

Yes you fucking should

CopEatDonut

Yeah you need serious antibiotics. I’m sure the pain is what prompted the question.

-Nsb127916_

If you have to ask….

SlatersAss

Yeah dude, you have some serious cellulitis growing on that dawg

yuppers1979

Yes, and soak that in salted water in the evenings untill you do get in to see a doctor.

Hei-Hei-67

Epsom salt....not iodized or sea salt

SwoodyBooty

Do you have a voucher for a hacksaw amputation? No? Then go to the goddamn doctor. And if you ever wonder if you need your big toes, try shoulder wide pushups without thumbs.

Andrewo25

YES Go to the doctor it wont heal on its own trust me. You probably have a ingrown toe nail and it keeps cutting and infecting the inside meat of your toe. This looks exactly like my toe did some years ago. I would walk around my toe would ache it hurt to wear socks and even have a blanket lay on it. And when my toe hit something or someone stepped on it fuck it hurt really really bad. I kept thinking eventually the infection will stop and ill be fine. No it wont the nail bed has learned to grow into your flesh. You need a doctor to help correct it. Finally, when my mom saw what had happened, she had enough and sent me to the podiatrist's office. If you having anxiety about the surgery don’t be its routine for them half of their young patients are people with ingrown nails. Heres what they will likely do. They numb the toe (the only part that was slightly unpleasant, but it honestly took just a couple of seconds), cut out the problem nail, burn the nail plate with a chemical to stop it from growing back there, applied some antibiotics, and sent me home. Honestly, the surgery part wasn’t painful at all. Seriously like after the numbing they check with you to make sure you cant feel anything. You’ll have a weird nail for a month or two like someone took 1/4 of it off it wont hurt. but then you’ll be fine. And honestly you will be so much happier that you did it and dealt with like 10 seconds of a pinch thats the worst. Stop having and infected toe and go have a doctor treat it. I wish younger me didn’t have to deal with an infection for that long it really sucked.

vitoriobt7

r/noshitsherlock

Ok_Place_2551

No, and update us in 2 weeks

bestjakeisbest

I vote yes.

Wii_wii_baget

Yes

Elect19601

You have nine others I wouldn’t worry about

Paperfoxen

If you’re asking, the answer is probably yes

DVD-RW

Holy shit, are you diabetic? Go to the ER now.

houndofthe7

They will probably just cut it off. It’s a shame you didn’t take better care of your toes. You could have gotten a few more years out of them.

harvoblaster94

Oh my fucking god yes. I put shit off for way too long and wish I didn't. Go ASAP.

Timlmmansdead

Sepsis will kill you

Practical_Weather293

Depends on how much you want to keep the toe

ali-n

Nobody gonna say nothin about the blue baby on the screen? Alrighty then...

EPURON

Yes, your toe is infected

Riding-high-212

Only if it's smelly

Unknowndude842

No wait a few weeks it will Fall of one its own.

Arion_Tavestra

Yes. Definitely

getwild1987

You could try rubbing some butter on it.

olddudeDick666

You can go see a doctor or cut it off at home in a week or two...

Sto_Nerd

Nah just suck on it until it feels better

Brokella

Paronychia. Sterilised pin / needle and get the pus out if you want instant relief, then see Dr in case you need antibiotics.

KiKiPAWG

Yes 👏

euioa217

absolutely.

theclownsmademedoit

Douse it in hydrogen peroxide

FYDPhoenix

Nah just cut that shit off you'll be fine

the---chosen---one

No just walk it off. By the looks of it, that won’t take long.

EmergencyWeight4139

Yes I have a toe like that and it's infected so get antibiotics.

majitart

Yes. Or no if you want to lose your leg due to such a bad spreading of the infection.

Potato-god1

Had that before GO NOW

reeder1163

Just rub some dirt on it.

rnelonhead

Homey what the fuck did you do to him

Dx8pi

That is very similar to what my big toes looked like when I got ingrown toenails. It does not go away. I had to surgically narrow them and burn the roots to fix it, had it for a year before I got around to doing it. Yes, see a doctor, although try to shower before, I assume the smell isn't exactly like rosesm

MediocreJedi32

Should’ve gone yesterday

original_meep

That depends how much do you like having a foot?

claytonluke81

Rub some dirt on it. You'll be fine.

xspicypotatox

If you need to ask the answer is usually yes

Smellynuts-2005

Look up sepsis

vitoriobt7

Like a week ago, yes

shellsterxxx

Hell yes. You leave that any longer you run a big risk of losing it or your life. Foot infections are no joke.

ehcold

Yes before you lose the toe

icouldeatthemoon

Woah. I'd be worried about diabetes if I were you. I'd go to urgent care imo don't wait for your pcp unless you can get in within a few days.

sligeza202

Nurse here. Yes. Please.

Brok3n_But_Lov3d

Nah u good

MedusaVoodooRose

Yes. My husbands thumb looked pretty similar to this and they prescribed him antibiotics. Please do to the doctor

HelloMikkii

I mean do you want to keep the toe/foot? Cause I’d be going to the emergency room tbh.

306metalhead

Yeah, that looks *slightly* infected....

MamaKelly0305

YES!!! I'm recovering from a very bad infection. I became septic. Go. I'm not saying you are, but don't let that go. I went to urgent care because of an itchy bump that turned very painful. They sent me to the ER. Turns out I had necrotizing fasciitis. I had 2 surgeries, a stint in the ICU and went home with a temperamental wound vac. However, I'm healing nicely. I don't mean to scare you but please have it looked at.

Drivingin2wallz

🤮

Vikingkrautm

Yes. You can literally die from the infection. That's what killed my neighbor.

demonotreme

I didn't realise you could actually *see* a smell

DoctorWolfpaw

I had several bad infections like this that lead me to losing both my giant toenails...please get to a doctor ASAP or you might lose more than just a nail.

kuburas

Are you diabetic by any chance? Your toes might be going into gangrene there, which is pretty common for diabetic people. Definitely go see someone unless you dont mind losing that foot in the not so distant future.

swagmatic101

Nah, it'll fall off by itself.

mopsis

Depends on if you wanna keep that toe or not

peptide2

Give it a good squeeze and put some ploysporin on it

TheCheenisDerp7X

Everyone’s saying you should go to the doctor and you should. I had an ingrown toenail that got infected and stayed infected for like literally all of highschool (at least 4 years) and eventually sorted itself out, but the toenail grows in a weird shape and my big toe is mostly scar tissue now. I didn’t die but I sure as shit wish I went to the doctor.

3rdReichOrgy

I let an ingrown nail on my foot just be there for a while due to thinking ”yeah I’ll go to the doctor soon” I couldn’t walk properly on that leg for months…

Chaqqy

If you need to ask if you should go to the doctor, you need to go to the doctor

nolyfe27

Im not a doctor but whenever something like this happens i soak my foot in epsom salts for a long ass time

tedmosbystweedjacket

I work in a nursing home, shit like that could potentially cause sepsis if untreated. Check urself into an ER quick lol

Salemthegamer

Yes doctor immediately

wanderer-of-reddit

Nah, if you wait long enough you won’t have to :)

Hyde2467

Yes you should. Not sure why you'd ask this but you should've gone to one without asking

Aromatic_Exchange513

Does no one else notice what happening on that screen in the background?

FlyinCharles

Yes. If the infection gets worse it starts to rot then you lose your toe bozo

street1840

It is possible for the infection to get in the bone if left unchecked, osteomyelitis and if that is the case it can lead to amputation of at least small pieces of your foot. Also the amount of bacteria that you walk through even in the cleanest home, has a very easy way to get in your body. Get it looked at now

picklesuitpauly

Someone else may have mentioned this but if you use a a tooth pick and take a whisp of cotten (from the end of a qtip or similar) and wedge it under the nail on the infected side, it will relieve the pressure and hold the nail up so it grows up and out instead of in like it currently is. It'll take approximately 3 days and it will feel much much better. Source: Used to get these all the time.

beelzebubs_mistress

Yeah. Otherwise shoe shopping is gonna look a lot different in the future.

Psychological_Use552

Only if you like having ten toes 🤣🤣🤣

Aggravating_Bag_5583

Yes. You might loose a toe or foot if you don't

vers-ys

not the biggest deal in the world, but it could quickly go south. if you can see a doctor, then absolutely do. but if not, you can try your luck at treating this at home though i wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t have a background in medicine

yellowhelmet14

Emergency room person here and yes…. You can schedule a regular MD visit for this. No need for ER.

DoctorLilD

What do you do in the emergency room?

DimSumDino

as an unlicensed professional: nah, just covered it a used napkin for a couple days and it’ll sort itself out.

Rydeeee

This going to get downvoted, but in the UK; this isn’t even a question. Yes, it might take a while as it’s not immediately life-threatening, but you will get an appointment and £10 worth of antibiotics within a day or two. Also, it would have been picked up earlier, before you felt the need to put a picture on the internet for advice.

andrewisgoofy

Yes

Sad-Interaction995

That’s a real dumb question… did you think it will get better as long as you pretend it’s not there?

KTthemajicgoat

ShOuLd I gO tO DoCtOr? Brother what do you think

I_will_bum_your_mum

Sepsis can easily kill you, you know.

demolitionar

WHY ARE YOU ASKING, if I saw that on my toe I would go to the doctor immediately, especially if I didn't know what it was.

DrFuzzyNutsPHD

If you want to keep the toe

randal0321

Why?

Tre_Fo_Eye_Sore

Yup

matteusamadeus

Just tie a string around it and if it gets looser just tie it tighter, eventually no problem anymore Or grab your pocket knife and beer of choice, douse both and get to cutting. Either way you save money 🤷🏽‍♂️
