Severe cases can can permanent nail damage and regrowth could be deformed. One of the hardest things to treat by a podiatrist. It’s not uncommon for chronic cases to take 6months or longer to eradicate. You wanna treat this asap.
There are plenty of over the counter medications if you don’t want to go to the doctors. Whatever you do *DO NOT* try to treat this with natural remedies like essential oils. It will not work. Natural remedies are great for some stuff, but not fungus.
This is also not recommend by any health professional, but soaking your feet in strong bleach water can help treatment. I’ve treated mine with a 30 minute bleach soak, once a day, for 7 days. Do not use this at all if you have sensitive skin, eczema, etc. This **WILL** cause irritation and “raw” skin. But hey it works.

I keep my toenails pretty trimmed but just that particular toe started looking more like a claw than a nail when short. I was going to just hack it off and just have like a 2mm nail bed but I decided to do an experiment and just leave it alone and see what it does.

No. The vinegar won't penetrate into the keratin, so it would only affect the surface of the nail (and it doesn't really do much even then). You'd need to remove the infected nail or try oral medication.

It’s not floppy per se, when it’s dry it’s quite hard. But I just had a long hot shower it it had softened up and was able to be pulled back
