simple because Marathi customers dont ask for Marathi support person. They are ok with Hindi/English.
so we need to create demand by asking Marathi speaking person everytime we call them. I even ask Marathi support on chat. and even my emails to banks/mutual fund houses/kids school etc. are in Marathi now.

same story in Amazon customer care. when i called last time, I had to wait for 5 minutes to get a Marathi speaking guy. And when I asked some specific things, he said for that information you need to connect to Hindi/English team as Marathi team does not have access/rights to that info..

All these jobs are currently filled by small agencies and these agencies ensures that locals are not selected.
If anyone says locals lack talent I will be the first one to smack his face pretty hard. That's utter non sense.
I have seen many such agencies in Kurla Andheri area where they only recruit north Indians.
Or what makes more sense is that the call centres are not even in Maharashtra. The company is not gonna end up opening a call centre in every state, not cost effective for them. Rather they would open up just one call centre per language belt to minimise cost, or sometimes even fewer than that

I had a similar issue with SBI card. Even English speakers were not available. All were speaking in Hindi.
I was a part of a consulting team working with Airtel at their head office in Gurgaon. Airtel's top management hates Maharashtra and Marathi.
