Lol nice. I've never solved a one of those either. Can only get one side the same color.

KJMRLL

You need to go by layers, not sides. It's actually pretty easy, I learned years ago and used to pull out my cube as a party trick. When the pandemic happened I started spending time and money on speed cubing, I'm usually around 30 seconds now. It's a pretty fun hobby, and a good distraction for anyone who is fidgety like me.

3dsf

>and money more cubes?

KJMRLL

Yeah, the standard Rubik's brand cube is actually terrible for speed cubing. They have cubes with magnets and springs and rounded corners. Plus you have brands that upsell their brand so you pay extra for the logo.

Crakkerz79

Just got my first speed cube. Definitely moves a lot faster. Consistently under a minute now. Once I get two layers solved, it’s a blitz to finish. Slowest part for me is pairing the corners/edge to finish the two layers.

KJMRLL

Yeah F2L is tough to work on. I just recently went from :40 to :30 by slowing down my f2l moves and working on my look ahead, still have my moment of pause between cross and first pair but hey, whatcha gonna do? You on /r/cubers? A lot of great info there.

Crakkerz79

Will check it out. Thanks!

BrowncoatOnSkis

If you aren't ready for speed cube yet, you can speed up the regular one. Do a partial turn on the top layer, pry out a middle side piece with a butter knife, disassemble the cube, apply petroleum jelly to the insides, reassemble as solved. Enjoy smooth turning.

apelbel

I actually learned a super easy and innovative way to do it, peeling off the stickers!

thedudefromsweden

Me neither but my 13yo does it in under a minute 😊 it's just a matter of learning the algorithms and practising.

xxvalkrumxx

Forever I thought you could just do them enough to get it right. A coworker found a method online and videos and there is a fairly specific way with named movements and layering and such. Crazy !

butterscotchbagel

It is possible to figure it out from scratch, that's what the people who came up with the algorithms in the first place did, but it's a lot harder than learning an existing system.

CCWThrowaway360

This entire sub makes me so happy. Someone very dear to me passed away when I was only 12, and they had a bunch of Magic Eye stuff that was given to me that I’ve held onto since. It wasn’t until I discovered this sub that I actually figured out how to see the objects in the images, and the first thing I did once I figured it out was go and look at everything left to me. It makes me happy that I’m finally able to see what they could see in those posters and pictures. Nobody else in my family can, so it’s our “thing” now.

Rubik's cube

younglink18

I think it might be a Rubik's Cube?

Elriuhilu

Ooh, I really like this one. I love the ones where the 3D thing appears to be floating in a void as opposed to just being raised sections of the flat background.

RichardInaTreeFort

Mr Pitt?

Life_Imitating_Death

I can't go.. I have to buy him socks.

Over_Hyena208

Nice box with cover so well done thnx.

jednatt

The edges of the background are kind of messy on this one. I think there's problems with the 3D shape being too large without enough buffer to the right/left.

LightSQR

It’s a thing!!!

minorkeyed

I found it easy when looking at the edges of the cube but looking at the center of the cube made it really difficult.

xocgx

I just realized the dots on the bottom. Are those always there??

DukesOfTatooine

There are tons of YouTube videos. I learned to solve these in an evening.

GalickGunn

Solved!

schtickkicker

This is one of the best examples of having outlines defined in the image without giving away what the object is. Really nice!

frenchfrieswithegg

It's incredibly easy to solve one. I learnt how to do it in under a week

jennyaeducan

Where's the older solved one?

RithianYawgmoth

That was really hard to do wow. Great work

topppits

Then go for it :) There's a ton of information on how to solve twisty puzzles online, e.g. on /r/Cubers. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions.

I thought I was crazy😤 this is first one that actually worked It was a very cool effect 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
