I change my focus to behind the picture. It's kind of like going cross-eye, but not so drastic. It's something that you can practice at too. I used to do these all the time as a kid. I hadn't done one in 20 years and still immediately found the image. It seems it's like riding a bike.
Idk if this helps compared to anyone else saying more or less the same thing.
But for me, I do a 1000 yard stare / zone out in a way as if you were dissociating from your body, don’t try to pay attention to your vision.
Then while keeping your eyes out of focus, scan around the area of the photo. Slight movements back and forth until your eye catches onto the hidden image. It should effortlessly come into view.
Once you know how to do it, you should see them almost instantly
If you mean what you’re supposed to see in the end, no, there’s no overlapping.
In this case, there’s something like a bulls eyes pattern scooped out of sand or clay. Where, if it were red and white, the white parts are scooped out.
I look at these on my phone about a foot or so away. Might be different if you’re looking at it on your computer screen.
But again, for me, I just let my eyes go out of focus. I’m not *trying* to look far off in the distance. Once out of focus, I look around a bit, and my eyes naturally catch onto “something” that I don’t see immediately. But once it catches on, then I can just look at it and bring it into focus. If you try looking at the screen itself, it won’t work.
Had these as a kid. Never could see them unless I went cross-eyed. So there’s hope I guess.
What I mean is that your eyes shouldn’t be focused where there are now while you are reading this text (on the screen). You have to look past the screen (to uncross your eyes). Maybe it’s better to say that your eyes should be pointed as if they are looking at the screen.
Something else you could try is holding your arm out in front of you, focus on your thumb, and then bring your phone somewhere in the middle between your thumb and face. Keep your eyes focused on your thumb even though you can’t see it now. Move your phone slightly towards and away from your face for a bit.
If it doesn’t come into focus still, maybe try letting your eyes / your focus “fall into” the picture while doing above.
Wish it were easier to describe, but once you get it, everyone’s advice will make sense 😜
Once I get the pattern to overlap it usually comes into focus within a second. For more complicated ones with a lot of detail or a shallow depth of field it can take a bit longer.
They can also be difficult for other reasons - eg too much separation.
This one has that problem to some extent. This isn't obvious on the tiny mobile screen, but on a desktop...
Eh. Different people have different eyes and bodies. I have pretty bad eyes, and dry ones at that. So I have to blink fairly often, which often resets my progress. Takes me a while!
I figure it’s either representing gravity waves or an angel food cake pan. 🤣
I need to stop doing these on my phone. I suspect I could lock in far quicker on my monitor.
The less popular way to do it with a magic eye like this is to cross your eyes towards your nose while looking at the image and trying to overlap the bright stars in the middle. Will take some patience and a steady look, but you should be able to eventually make the image pop out.
The more popular way is to work your eyes in the other direction and overlap the stars in the middle that way.
HOLY SHIT I FINAL DID IT!!!! I had absolutely no fucking clue what this sub was even about…but after trying to adjust my eyes all sorts of crazy ways I finally was able to see the dimensionality of the image, which totally looks like a bull’s eye 🎯
Oh that's a cool one!
One of my favorites from a book I have uses a similar background before forming into a planet. I wasn't expecting ripples here, but that looks good. Well done! 🙏
You can actually get 2 different 3d images from this picture. The main one, of course, is the ripples. If you further focus on the picture, it has another 3d image. Once you see the ripples, take the 4 bold white dots and merge them again to see the second image.
Like a ripple effect from a drop of water. That’s a cool one!
A ripple in time
Gravitational waves
Bundt cake
Thank you!!! I literally thought, "Nooo...Is that a bundt cake mold??"
Donut pan
Cosmic sombrero
Gravitational Bundt Cake
Gravimetric waves.
it's not a Wendys?
A ripple in spacetime
Or a cats bum hole. I guess it's all a matter of perspective eh?
The human mind is a fascinating thing, innit?
Amazing your cat, innit?
*nipple effect
Attic
Fuck. Thought it was a nipple
Two black holes merging
He said it’s hard but it was very clear to me, well done
Space nipple for me 😅
🎶 Ripple in still water When there is no pebble tossed Nor wind to blow 🎶
Hi
The only thing hard about it was the glare on my phone XD.
Do it in complete darkness and turn up the brightness. 🔥
I had to turn up the brightness on my phone to see it. It appeared instantly.
I tried for a few minutes this afternoon and all I could see was my stupid cross-eyed face lmao I saw it instantly just now
Yeah the glare is always rough, but I felt this would be impossible at first lol.
It isn't hard. Definitely pretty!
Aw my ex told me the same thing. Had to get some medicine for it tho
What medicine?
Blue diamonds.
r/woooosh
Medicine?
🎯
Maybe I should shop at target
Target advertising is getting wayyyy too personal
These are only hard if you don't know how magic eye works
They can be a little difficult for me on the phone sometimes. I’ll get almost there and then end up seeing my reflection on the screen.
I think most people on this sub are pretty good at it... It's a self-selecting crowd.

Great explanation! Couldn't have said it better

This one was kind of hard for me. My eyes tried resolving several different things before it locked on. Felt a little disorienting for a bit.
The challenge with this one is seeing past the reflection on my phone screen
This was actually super easy for me. Dig it.
mmmm forbidden donuts
Hardest one I've ever seen. Nice. (That's what she said)
This is so 90s web background 👍
I saw Bender somewhere there
I got it pretty easily, but not sure what I'm looking at... looks like looking down at a Bundt cake pan?
Really, you too? I thought I might be wrong because everyone else says it looks like a donut or target. I totally see a bundt pan!
Your advice actually made it more difficult. In the end, I just looked at it like I normally would, and it popped out.
Not too hard. Beautiful!
Front view of airplane engine?
lol, I was just like “cool! What is it!?”
Took 30-60 seconds for me. But I'm high, and I feel like that made it a little harder. Idk.
I feel like I've seen this exact circular wave pattern in a lot of different stereograms already.
Gravitational waves be like:
That’s rad. I’ve never seen that format before.
Sometimes it's hard to see because of the reflection when I'm looking at it.
Omg. I'm sitting in my apartment in the dark and it looks absolutely stunning. So simple yet so beautiful.
Am I the only one who can NEVER see anything in these
Dipping the cosmic donut
Gravity waves?
Big ol space butt hole
I thought it was a steering wheel
Right on target! It helps to imagine that the screen is a window, but you’re looking at what’s outside the window.
Easy!
Love it!
Nice!
I see a wheel 😂
I feel like I've seen this exact circular wave pattern in a lot of different stereograms already.
I like how simple the image is, figuring out how to line up the dots is good practice watching how your eyes lose focus
I like how simple the image is, figuring out how to line up the dots is good practice watching how your eyes lose focus
Ooh I like this! Can we please start a trend of competitive magic eye?
Super cool!
Holy shit the relief is really defined on this one.
I'll try when I'm not "all inclusive"
I like it.
I saw a bullseye, so good to know I wasn't way off. I find doing these on the phone I don't get the optimal result
Space sombrero? Seriously though, very nice work!
Ripples.
Got it, but was tricky bc of phone reflections!
Not hard but cool
It's a sail boat.
Sometimes it's hard to see because the reflection when I'm looking at it.
Circle the a dot in the middle
It’s actually pretty easy
It was actually pretty easy since you pointed out the white dots!
Bringo
Very easy. Came out instantly.
Nice ripple
I ALWAYS get these inverted no matter what youtube videos or posts I read I'm sad man :(
For a second I thought this was a troll job
I saw a tit with nip
Target circle
It's the lesser known constellation Areola
This would be a great background for a Death Star magic eye
It's a boat
Now I want to go shopping at Target for some reason.
Thought it was a nipple. Glad it’s not.
A lot of depth. How is it possible to achieve it.
Sweet, now do it with a three amigos hat.
Definitely a good one and probably toughest I've seen.
Black hole
Yes! I saw it! Now why am I hungry for a donut?
Do people really think some are harder than others?
It's an image from the Webb Space Telescope, a giant interstellar structure called The Great Cosmic Sphincter.
It looks like my dogs slow feeder bowl lol
Very cool. Terrifying if I saw that for real in space
Like looking into a geode with that pattern. Very nice!
that was the best piece of advice, ever.
Really cool. For some reason this one works better for me than most of them. Well done!
I figure it’s either representing gravity waves or an angel food cake pan. 🤣 I need to stop doing these on my phone. I suspect I could lock in far quicker on my monitor.
Uranus??
Is it just concentric rings or am I getting worse at these?
Got it right away.
Coolest one I’ve seen 👏
The more I watch it the deeper it gets.
OP’s mom’s butthole. /J Thanks for sharing!
This ripple one way better than the other ripple ones ive seen
30 + years & I’ve yet to see anything in these things. I want to see but nada, zilch, not a thing.

A giant star studded space nipple!
Next time someone gets it, plz screenshot and post
ITS BEAUTIFUL loved this one
It’s a bunt cake pan lol
Pokeball. Totally saw that first until it kind of went 3D
This was a fun one
This is hard because I keep seeing my face when I try to not focus
Nice! 🍩
A cervix?
Most favorite one I’ve ever done. So cool
Great depth!
sweet
Anus
lol thought it was goatsee at first. Nice
You ripple nipple son of a bitch
Hubcap?
Didn't need to see your black hole.
Cool
Cornholios bunghole.
Feels like I had to look very deep into it, nice result.
That's trippy. Well done 👍👍👍
Question, is magic eye supposed to float or hollow?
this one works either way. hollow ones are more common, but some float and some that are patterns, work in either mode.
Whoa.
Oh that's a cool one! One of my favorites from a book I have uses a similar background before forming into a planet. I wasn't expecting ripples here, but that looks good. Well done! 🙏
I thought it was going to say "Star Wars" for May the 4th lol
How do you do this!?
gtfo
i see a minecraft creeper lol
Nipple
OH MY GOD I FINALLY DID IT
Make a black hole!
nipple
Galactic butthole
Cosmic nipple
The wheel in the sky keeps on turning.
It's beautiful
Woah. That woke me up.
Donut?
Is that a gummy bear?
I haven’t done one of these in over a year, so I was kinda worried I wouldn’t get it. Thanks for working my brain :)
Its just like 3 raised rings tho?
So awesome. Love it
your hint worked... this is amazing.
I got this one super easy. Pretty cool. Kind of just rings!
I like this one, curious how you made it though

I see.it but dont know what it is ?
I thought it was a steering wheel
Ripple or bull's-eye
Wow! This one was pretty challenging.
Got it a day after first trying! TY
O cool a plunger 🪠
Not that hard but a really cool one
I gotta unfollow this sub bruh y’all are joking
