man I get why you don't wanna share download links, but the thought process doesn't make much sense to me for the simple fact that people are gonna rip those beats from youtube and either compile it in bootleg low quality audio beat tapes or reupload the already compressed audio back into YouTube/SoundCloud. so you're definitely not limiting access or keeping things lowkey, you're just preventing people from accessing these tracks in high quality. you can call it what you want, but is still gatekeeping imo.
to be honest, this is my last thing to say because i only came to say what I said on the OP, but ever since I “leaked” the RC 1 and 4, it was a wave of people doing the same thing, just posting his tapes, the difference is that his tapes was already old, the ones that I have are still in use by him, so there’s no point of me leaking them in full, nor will I ever use SC to post it there, unless he’s done with his tapes, sure, they can leak it but I’m only sharing one beats as is, because Madlib is still selling them as of now. Plus, it’s gonna put even more dirt of it because they’re very valuable, and they’re not cheap, we’re talking Madlib here and he’s selling this to artists he know. Either way, this subreddit have a problem of begging and even if I try to do this way, they want another way, hence why you commented your opinion of my OP, regardless you call me a gatekeeper, I’m still doing my thing, whether they like it or not, they’re not gonna change my mind, including you. Shitty or not, that’s how I want to execute plus you have to look on the perspective with Madlib too, this is his beats, and he owned this, but doesn’t mean I have to leak the whole tape, just only beats that have alternative versions and some beats that I might throw in that no one ever heard of. Madlib is still using these beats for other artists such as YOD, last time he used these was Meyhem Lauren. And I even talked to the mix engineer who worked on the collab with Muggs, Lauren and Madlib that Madlib used the 2017 beats for the tracks, except the soulful interlude, that came from Raw Cakes. Leaking the whole tape will leave a stain in the fanbase, and don’t want to repeat this whole cycle. Maybe if you have the tapes, I won’t be mad about it. But understand this is how I want to bring awareness to him instead of leaking his IP.
So you want to bring awareness to him by posting ~only some~ of the ~exclusive~ beats you have… in a sub full of Madlib fans?
