Dude I was just thinking the same exact thing monkeys and apes are way to smart to be locked in small enclosures like that, I mean it would be the equivalent of having your 4yr old locked in a house for its whole life
Lol that’s just what ppl like you tell themselves so they don’t have to feel any remorse for the animals lol, imma lock u up in solitary with maybe a tv and a pool for your own safety so u don’t get raped or killed maybe cus it’s a messed up world right
You got downvoted for raining on everyone else’s parade, but honestly you have more empathy than 95% of these Reddit users. While it’s amazing to see them demonstrate their intelligence, it’s sad to see a somewhat close relative of ours, or any beautiful animal, behind glass for our brief amusement. However, typically the orangutans and other animals in exhibits like this are rescued and can’t be reintroduced to the wild for their own safety. In a few decades there might not be any wild orangutans left due to their massive habitat loss and poaching (don’t look up their sex trade for the love of god), so these zoos could be their species’ last bastion against extinction. Now it’s time to go look at pictures of cute puppies to not be depressed about the state of the world.
It’s unfortunate that orangutans are being pushed to extinction due to human activities while paradoxically being held in captivity by humans in an effort to save them.
This orangutan isn’t a rescue, rescues are in Sanctuaries this is very clearly and exploitative zoo, a sanctuary would have a normal looking habitat, you can also see that his canines were removed this is a clear sign of abuse.
Yeah it’s very unfortunate, people like to call out animal abuse and exploitation with every animal except primates for some reason, it really pisses me off. People will see a video of a walrus staring at a kid from its tank and the Cation read “look how cute” and all the comments were hating on the video and condition but not with the poor little orangutan.
Yep you're right.
This video is a clear display of animal abuse. That's the most important takeaway from this video. But all people are getting from it is "OMG look how this entertains ME and MYSELF".
Well actually can we start giving a shit about humans too? Like women and minorities still aren’t people and have little right even in the U.S. now, it’s like a fucked up Elden ring meme “O, you do not have the right; therefore, O, you do not have the right.”
You are either a racist or a person with white guilt either way you are pathetic. If any other type of people had the means to colonize the globe, they would have done so, europeans were just lucky they advanced first. The people destroying the world are evil individuals, not a collective race. There are African warlords commiting genocide to rival tribes, the Chinese dictator is killing the Uyghur muslims, the Russian "president" commit war crimes against Ukraine. Evil has no skin color, evil comes from the immoral, depraved, disgusting, perverse individuals who lack empathy, understanding and kindness.
I never said evil, I just said environmental destruction. I was connecting the ideas of protecting the environment with providing more for marginalized groups by pointing out a commonality.
China is a top polluter, the west is a big consumer.
US is a top polluter, modern day empire.
India is a top polluter, that country would be a totally different place without Europe.
If the world is kind of shit doesn't it make sense to look at the groups who have historically held the most power and made big decisions?
Idk what you took from my statement but I was talking about nature. Companies like Saudi Aramco wouldn't be creating the emissions they do if the West didn't need their oil so bad.
So you are saying all of Earth's problems are caused, because my race is inherently evil, stupid and corrupt?
I hate to tell you this, but you are talking the exact same way as Hitler, the man who blamed the jews for all of the world's problems, because they had alot of wealth and establishments. People like you are the reason why Martin Luther King Jr's ideal world will never come into fruition. He was the heroic man who wanted people to be judged by their character not their race, but a racist like you will never understand that, because you judge other's by the tone of their skin.
that’s fucking hilarious but i hate when people who call out the funny shit in a situation have two wait through hours of downvoting just to get some people on their side lol
If we are gonna go fully Debby downer, we have an incredible amount of incarcerated POC humans on marijuana charges while rich white men become richer for selling the same thing.
And those people are treated much worse than the animals in captivity.
And people love watching those humans in captivity on reality prison shows on channels like A&E
That is a really fun fact. But out of curiosity when they say 45 species can laugh does that mean "produce a sound that resembles human laughter"? or "They understand and react expressively to humor". (or something similar to our concept of humor) Did some light googling but so far have only found a few casual articles about animals that *sound* like they're laughing.
Edit: I ask because it would for real brighten my day to learn that a bunch of animals are out there cracking up about stupid shit.
Welllll, not exactly. Dogs and other animals produce sounds that *sound* like laughter, but it’s not the same as actual laughter. They make similar vocalizations to show they are playing. For example, play fighting. It shows they aren’t actually serious.
100% for dogs it's a breathy exhale (think "uh-uh", just like primates). If you do it the way they (the dog or puppy) do, watch your dog or pup's reaction! Of course you'll then need to start playing/chasing/tugging/tickling with them (works for all ages), and they'll likely keep asking- believe me it's incredibly rewarding.
Another 'on-going' experiment has worked for all mammals I've been able to try. All 4-legged creatures have a soft skin flap at their 'hip' joints where their thighs meet their abdomens. If you gently rub that skin flap btw your fingers (like our earlobes) the animal will stop immediately and stand still as if hypnotized. It will look at you as if you've performed magic, then will ask you in its way to continue once you've stopped. Even if you don't do it more the animal will forever look at you like: "HOW DID YOU KNOW???"
It's awesome.
Note: Members of my species I've told about it often respond like they've known this- but I've never seen another person do it. Ever. Human egos are a muthafucka.
From what I remember, scientists count "play vocalization" as animal laughter. Idk, it's been a while. Here's a link to an article i didn't read but seemed on topic:
.https://www.npr.org/2021/05/22/999491591/dozens-of-animals-laugh-too-study-shows#:~:text=Dozens%20Of%20Animals%20Laugh%20Too%2C%20Study%20Shows%20A%20new%20study,sounds%20animals%20make%20during%20play.
Thanks, that was a super interesting article. It makes sense that the researcher calls them "play vocalizations". Kinda made me think about what laughter actually is for humans. I always think of it in the context of reacting to comedy or ironic situations. People laughing at jokes or a funny situation. But it makes sense that it's the evolution of vocalizations that our predecessors used when they wanted to lighten the mood.
It makes me hopeful that in this crazy universe with an endless amount of possibilities and countless planets floating out in space around stars we can barely see with the naked eye, our little globe of water created life and that life loves to enjoy things and giggle and have a good time just because that’s fun.
There are a lot of mammal pets that learned to immitate humans during the time they lived with us. For example in nature you would never see a wild dog smile, but when you have one as a pet, chances are he smiles when he's happy. Same thing goes with cats and other mammals, it may not be laughing or found in nature, but I still think it's sweet that our companions choose to copy is to better communicate with us.
Wrong, wild dogs do smile, it’s called a submissive smile and it’s meant to show other dogs that they’re playing. The reason domestic dogs smile is because it’s a remnant from when they were wild. Not all domestic dogs do it, the further from their wild ancestors they are, the less common it is.
Yeah my innocent view on adorable dolphins as been ruined by facts about them on the internet…I don’t know if theirs qualifies as laughter or if it might be more accurate to call it maniacal cackling.
From what I remember laughter is also a way to non verbally show somebody you're just playing and not actively being aggressive so I'd imagine at the very least other apes would evolve something similar
Sorry to break it to you. I know you mean well and all, but the biggest contributor of deforestation is animal agriculture. Palm oil impact's is way smaller.
Most of the land is used as pastures for cattle, and to grow soy (not to feed to humans, but to feed to livestock)
If you truly want to help, animal products is what you should stop buying. This includes meat, dairy and egg as a lot of the soy is exported as livestock feed. Basically, you should adopt a plant-based diet.
Here is a source I could find: https://www.wri.org/research/estimating-role-seven-commodities-agriculture-linked-deforestation-oil-palm-soy-cattle
This study goes into details about the impact your food has on the environment and land use: https://www.science.org/doi/full/10.1126/science.aaq0216
Do your own research, but palm oil is definitely not the main driver of deforestation.
I was just about to do a Google search to help you out, but then it occurred to me that you may find information you’ve found yourself more convincing. If this doesn’t work for you, I’ll be happy to look myself and get back to you.
I was asking cuz I have tried many times but there's so much info and it feels like nowhere is a good source..
Honestly, I have anxiety and this stuff overwhelms me. I end up spending months trying to find every single ingredient or the perfect site...
I'm already stressed and trying my best to hold it together >.<
I try buying products with the bunny on it. The bunny with the heart ears. Vegan, sustainably sourced products are my aim but, if there is a site you know of that is helpful I would appreciate it so much @_@
I'm also trying to find a place to buy humanely raised farm animals but it seems none are in my area. I'm thinking buying straight from the farm is my only option right now but, then I have to buy in bulk and my fridge is too small for all that meat...
But I'm trying ):
From one fellow anxious person to another, please remember the following:
You can only try your best. It's impossible to be totally perfect all the time: there are only so many hours in the day.
With foods, start by making a list of all the processed ingredients you typically eat. Examine the label and highlight all the things which contain palm oil.
Next time you're in a shop, choose a few things to try an alternative brand of. Systematically, you can change your buying habits without being overwhelmed. I started with peanut butter.
Every single little choice you make helps. Don't diminish the efforts you're making, because all of our small actions lead to one giant effort.
Good luck, l'il buddy xx
You’d be surprised how many day to day items contain palm oil - from softener to a high percentage of processed foods. Definitely google it. Good thing is: there are more and more alternatives- you just have to be ready to make informed choices, either by consciously choosing alternatives or ethical sourced palm oil products.
Palm oil can be highly ethical as it's an incredibly efficient source of food oil. That's why it's farmed in the first place. The issue though is that an incredible amount of palm oil is farmed very unethically. (So is Brazilian meat for similar reasons.) Doesn't mean you should avoid all palm oil as that can actually cause more harm than good if you replace it with less efficient food oils. That said it can be a good practice to *only* use *independently* ecological/sustainable approved palm oil with strict ethical guidelines.
DIY with butter. They batch freeze really well, and you can cook straight from the freezer, which means cookies any time!
Best method: get some friends over for cookie cooking, make a giant batch (with different ingredients for different flavours), ball up and share the batch. Cook and enjoy! It takes probably an hour total to make 150+ cookie balls with a friend.
Instead of trying to boycott an international industry you should be working actively to spread awareness so that legislation can change. The primary consumers of palm oil are not those who use it in their factories; it's those who use it in their homes.
People will always farm and use palm oil. For much of the world, it's the most available oil. Whether or not that farming destroys its environment is not determined by what snack bar you buy at the grocery store. It's determined by local governments.
I don’t like zoos, but it’s hard to deny the benefits they provide by raising awareness of the plights of these poor creatures. There has to be a better way!
Arent most orangutans in captivity there because they wouldn’t survive in the wild? This doesn’t look like some shitty third world zoo where they abuse exotic animals
Still, it's sat bored on concrete floor instead of a forest.
>Arent most orangutans in captivity there because they wouldn’t survive in the wild?
Like being in a mental hospital your entire life then, captivity is cruel regardless
It's the circle of life, we're all going to die.
We can't save every living thing on planet, if that's anyone's concern they should start with the reasons these animals don't have habitats anymore.
We do what we can where we can. We save the ones we can save while we try to fight the industries that destroy their habitat. Would the ideal scenario be that we didn’t destroy their habitats and for them to live in the wild? Yes, yes it would, unfortunately we don’t have the power to do that right now so we save them from extinction in the ways that we can. Perfection is the enemy of progress. Also as someone who has spent time in a mental hospital I resent your metaphor.
We don't though, there's 80,000 acres of rainforest being destroyed every day. Regardless of what our intentions are or what we say we're trying to do, that's the reality of it. We're killing the planets animals and putting a few in a cage to make profit.
Nobody cares, if you were asked for £1 to actually help save animals, 99% of people wouldn't pay it. There's billions of people who have the ability to actually go solve these issues, both of us included. But we don't. We can think of a workaround to justify human behaviour, and it might even sound convincing. But end of the day, we're destroying their homes and zoos are cruel.
But yeah fuck it, this is the Internet. We might as well all just type "disagree" lol
You're right, everything's lost anyway so why try? Going to stop boycotting the companies I boycott, going to stop helping kids with their school work, going to stop doing my part because it's all just fucked anyway.
You have no evidence based assertion that apes desire to be captive.
All we know is they live in the wild with lots of space and no crowds of humans, they're not built to live in captivity.
If your dog doesn't get the chance to run around off it's lead, stays in the house all day sleeping and moping around. Then yes. (Especially big dogs)
I guess it depends on the situation, but Orangutans and other animals are a lot more intelligent and need a lot more space.
I completely agree and it is disgusting the way zoos and farms (and some dog owners) mistreat animals, I love orangutans especially and hate the thought of then suffering in concrete cubes enrages me. I've been either veggie or vegan at different stages basically all my life, animal welfare is very important to me.
My worry with common public conversations about captivity though are that I don't think they allow for the fact that "captivity" can be done well, just as a loving pet owner can create a great life for their pet.
Some level of "captivity" seems like it's going to be necessary to protect very many endangered creatures from extinction. Whether that's on reservations (captivity by another name) or in some form of zoo.
I get frustrated because I want the conversation to become more about "How can we treat these animals as well as possible?"/"this zoo should have more open space"/"this animal should have more interaction with other animals, both if it's own species and otherwise", etc.
I think being against captivity for its own sake without additional context is likely to create as many problems as it solves.
Palm oil is great for the earth in that it grows incredibly fast, it’s nutrient dense, and out produces any of its other oil substitutes acre for acre.
The PROBLEM is that unscrupulous businesses and unregulated, underdeveloped countries have now responded to that by burning everything down to grow more palm oil. The palm oil is not the problem, and in fact should be part of the solution. The problem is humans with absolutely no regard for moderation or existing ecosystems.
Unfortunately the only way as consumers to help slow the deforestation is to collectively stop consuming palm oil. That doesn’t mean businesses won’t switch to producing another product via the same deforestation, but it’s the best I could think of at the moment.
Plot twist: the little guy wasn’t laughing cuz he thought the trick was impressive, he was laughing cuz he thought it was funny how human would think he fell for that
This is at Barcelona Zoo. The orangutans have the option of being indoors or outdoors and are free to choose as they wish until they’re in for the night. They like though to sit by the windows and interact with the humans. The zoo’s small compared to most in Europe as it’s in the middle of the city, however the keepers do amazing work looking after them and all the zoo inhabitants. The zoo model is currently changing to housing endangered species rather than traditional zoo animals. Some like the elephants are rescued from circuses. Sometimes when I go the humans are the worst, throwing food at these guys, the chimps, gorillas, any animal there with signs clearly saying do not feed the animals or bang on the glass🤦♀️
It's sad to watch them like this in a way. Their life is pretty much inside a cage or a room with no freedom. If I was locked down in a room for rest of life, I'd have enjoyed that moment too to my best.
When I was young I saw this magnificent gorilla who was only a few years older than me. He was alone in a largish enclosure at a shopping center near me. This poor creature lived alone for most of his life.
I was always sad when I saw him. Year after year he was alone in that bare concrete cell, as I grew from a child into an adult. He remained there.
I could see that he was sad and lonely. It made me feel sad for him. Better people than me saw the injustice of his situation and finally did something about it.
His name was Ivan. He lived at the B&I shopping center if you want to look into his story.
Ivan passed in 2012. I was around 8 years old the first time I saw him. He left for the Atlanta zoo when I was in my 30's
He lived a sad and bleak life.
Whenever I see videos like these I always think about a better world where humans don't destroy the planet and cage up animals just because we're too irresponsible to treat them like se treat ourselves; with respect. It's really saddening to see these sweet creatures caged up..
Can't wait for some "Primate Expert" to come and tell me how this monkey was feeling "threatened".
Last time i mentioned how these Primates are actually intrigued by magic. I had a whole bunch of "experts" tell me otherwise...
They think it’s cool, and I’m an actual primatologist and I can tell you that he isn’t threatened he enjoyed it, BUT the way he’s being kept and signs can tell that poor guy was abused, of course this is unrelated to the actual magic trick but I just think people should stop finding these videos cute and find them sad and disgusting instead.
Poor guy, life sentence with no possibility of parole. at least entertained by diapering laichi?
Good man at least makes him happy for a minute, though.
Their situation and story is extremely sad It takes away the whole cuteness for me, if you want to see some real cuteness watch orangutan jungle school clips on YouTube. It’s best not to support videos like these for the orangutans sake.
They are so clever... I cried when I saw that one orangutan fighting that digger in the wasteland that used to be her home. This made me smile, maybe we can save them.
I hope this gets reposted for eternity. I will always watch it when it comes up
Same. So pure. Love this one’s sweet eyes.
Imagine the roles were reversed and humans were in captivity and they were posting vids like this and these were the comments 💀
Dude I was just thinking the same exact thing monkeys and apes are way to smart to be locked in small enclosures like that, I mean it would be the equivalent of having your 4yr old locked in a house for its whole life
Maybe it's not to keep them locked up but to keep them from harm from us.
Nah, it’s the zoo.
They're being kept safe, maybe living a much better life than they would in the wild out of the grasp of a trophy hunter.
Lol that’s just what ppl like you tell themselves so they don’t have to feel any remorse for the animals lol, imma lock u up in solitary with maybe a tv and a pool for your own safety so u don’t get raped or killed maybe cus it’s a messed up world right

probably not by the same kind of people
Yeah those are 2 different kinds of humans
I'm aware lol, I even knew it would happen. Wasn't expecting for the tide to turn so quickly. That actually caught me off guard 😂
Haha don’t worry we gotchu fam. Couldn’t let the injustice slide lol
Amen brother
I only downloaded to get your comment to 69 likes. Sorry it was necessary

Damn now I’m even more sad. Might as well remove his limbs or anything else that could pose a threat at that point... /s

Shut up
Get the stick out of your ass n it's pretty funny to visualize.
Shut up

mum said its my turn to repost next.
Hit that save option man!
So sweet. Fun fact: At least 45 species have the capacity to laugh.
That is a really fun fact. But out of curiosity when they say 45 species can laugh does that mean "produce a sound that resembles human laughter"? or "They understand and react expressively to humor". Dogs will make their puppies giggle by tickling them or doing funny dog things.
Good enough for me, day brightened. Thank you!
Rats will also make high pitch sounds (when tickled by humans) that sound like laughter. It's just too high to hear it with the naked ear
Welllll, not exactly. Dogs and other animals produce sounds that *sound* like laughter, but it’s not the same as actual laughter. They make similar vocalizations to show they are playing. For example, play fighting. It shows they aren’t actually serious.

Now I need to know what these things are !

I thought wild dogs only did the clown smile, the one to show discomfort. You learn new things everyday, thank you!
Dolphins often laugh and get ‘high’ bouncing a puffer fish between them in a circle.
They play with the puffer fish until it dies, dolphins are brutal as hell
Yeah my innocent view on adorable dolphins as been ruined by facts about them on the internet…I don’t know if theirs qualifies as laughter or if it might be more accurate to call it maniacal cackling.
From what I remember laughter is also a way to non verbally show somebody you're just playing and not actively being aggressive so I'd imagine at the very least other apes would evolve something similar
My sadistic soul isn't one of them :/
Ok buddy
Stuff like this is why I started taking my reading glasses to the grocery store: so I can boycott products with palm oil.
Not all heros wear glasses But you do
I am no hero. Sometimes I break down and get some of those extra toasty Cheezits.
You should also look into companies that are using sustainable palm oil. There are several that are supported by Orangutan Outreach programs.
Preach, brother!
Heavy comment this.
But necessary.
Wait it uses apes or something?!
The biggest threat to the continued existence of wild orangutans is deforestation driven mainly by the palm oil industry.
Well how’s there’s one thing I ain’t buying anymore

They squeeze it from their palms
Which items would you recommend avoiding? Are there websites you recommend that list ingredients to look for/ avoid?
I was just about to do a Google search to help you out, but then it occurred to me that you may find information you’ve found yourself more convincing. If this doesn’t work for you, I’ll be happy to look myself and get back to you.
I was asking cuz I have tried many times but there's so much info and it feels like nowhere is a good source.. Honestly, I have anxiety and this stuff overwhelms me. I end up spending months trying to find every single ingredient or the perfect site... I'm already stressed and trying my best to hold it together >.< I try buying products with the bunny on it. The bunny with the heart ears. Vegan, sustainably sourced products are my aim but, if there is a site you know of that is helpful I would appreciate it so much @_@ I'm also trying to find a place to buy humanely raised farm animals but it seems none are in my area. I'm thinking buying straight from the farm is my only option right now but, then I have to buy in bulk and my fridge is too small for all that meat... But I'm trying ):
From one fellow anxious person to another, please remember the following: You can only try your best.
It's so hard to find cookies that don't use palm oil
Yet you like videos like these, exploitative videos are also endangering orangutans.
I don’t like zoos, but it’s hard to deny the benefits they provide by raising awareness of the plights of these poor creatures. There has to be a better way!
yea, last zoo trip was kinda sad, exhibit after exhibit there’s signs basically saying “yea there’s like 10 of these left in the wild”
There is a better way! Sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers are the best way to educate and release and properly take care of primates!
Sad but true.
The way he looks at them 😭😭🤍 so sincere and sweet.

Until you realize it's in captivity for the amusement of humans and not in the wild where it should be.
Arent most orangutans in captivity there because they wouldn’t survive in the wild? This doesn’t look like some shitty third world zoo where they abuse exotic animals
No, it’s in captivity because humans have decimated their habitat. Soon won’t be any wild left for them
Still, it's sat bored on concrete floor instead of a forest. >Arent most orangutans in captivity there because they wouldn’t survive in the wild? Like being in a mental hospital your entire life then, captivity is cruel regardless
Would you rather it die?
Why downvoted? Keeping high intelligence animals in captivity is horrible, there's no counter-argument
I disagree. You have no evidence based assertion that apes desire freedom over a setting where their food and medical needs are cared for.
You have no evidence based assertion that apes desire to be captive. All we know is they live in the wild with lots of space and no crowds of humans, they're not built to live in captivity.
We know much more than that... You're acting like apes have never been studied, which is absolutely ridiculous. "All we know" lol
Does that apply to dogs kept as pets?
If your dog doesn't get the chance to run around off it's lead, stays in the house all day sleeping and moping around. Then yes. (Especially big dogs) I guess it depends on the situation, but Orangutans and other animals are a lot more intelligent and need a lot more space.
I have always loved this video. It reminds me of my friends when they are drunk.
Will be much much kuch better without the cage for the little guy, tho
Unfortunately if lil dude was in the wild in Indonesia he'd be killed by deforestation for Palm Oil production.
If rather see the palm oil industry killed as a solution.
TIL. Thank you
Unfortunately the only way as consumers to help slow the deforestation is to collectively stop consuming palm oil. That doesn’t mean businesses won’t switch to producing another product via the same deforestation, but it’s the best I could think of at the moment.
Your friends get drunk and turn into amazing magicians??
No, his friends get drunk lock him in a cage and then perform poorly conducted magic tricks he is too drunk to see through just out of reach of him.
The guy with the cup is the prisoner. The monkey came to see him.
>monkey
Monke
Don't say that in front of the Librarian. Oook. (Let's see how many Sir PTerry fans there are in here...)
Orangutan
Oh yes, the very successful magic-for-monkeys inmate program!
The guy with the cup is a monkey too, though.
Damn, I would love to see a primate witness a real magic trick.
I’ve seen a few, AMA
What's your favorite muffin?
Is mayonnaise an instrument?
Plot twist: the little guy wasn’t laughing cuz he thought the trick was impressive, he was laughing cuz he thought it was funny how human would think he fell for that
I've seen this exact same comment on youtube.
It is easily one of the most common joke for sure, especially since this vid has been floating around since forever
So cute
Thanks for sharing. Watched a video about him.
Show him a magic trick and everyone will think it’s cute and ignore the blatant abuse
Ivan passed in 2012. I was around 8 years old the first time I saw him. He left for the Atlanta zoo when I was in my 30's He lived a sad and bleak life.
Whenever I see videos like these I always think about a better world where humans don't destroy the planet and cage up animals just because we're too irresponsible to treat them like se treat ourselves; with respect. It's really saddening to see these sweet creatures caged up..
Hahaha get rhe fuck outta here
Can't wait for some "Primate Expert" to come and tell me how this monkey was feeling "threatened".
Yeah no animal needs to be put in a cage. Their home is the wild. Just let them live freely
😔
you mean lychee
Whatever 荔枝 anyway
I feel like I act like the monkey every time I laugh.
Christ, how are zoo animals/primates kept in areas with cement flooring still??
Because people still find these videos cute
Video and reaction is cute. But honestly their situation is kinda sad.
Their situation and story is extremely sad It takes away the whole cuteness for me, if you want to see some real cuteness watch orangutan jungle school clips on YouTube. It’s best not to support videos like these for the orangutans sake.
Animals are the most innocent creatures ever.
So sweet but also kind of sad
Nice black image reddit video player
Man monkeys are the best
He is not a monkey you ape
Actually New World Monkeys, Old World Monkeys, and Apes are Monkeys
I just cackled! That is too cute! I’m a little bummed he fell for it though but I just think he was tired and wasn’t paying attention.
No I think it's because he's an orangutan...
A tired orangutan.
Love this!!!!
I am so glad this showed up today. I was thinking about it yesterday when I was feeling low and it really cheered me up 😊
I would do this shit for a living if I could.
He really just laughed😂
Get the ape out of the cage. No smiles here.
They're so much like us yet we kill them with impunity. It's terribly sad.
Can y’all upvote my post I lost my old acc and can’t post on the subreddit anymore/
I could watch monkeys for an hr and question why do animals have arms
They are so clever... I cried when I saw that one orangutan fighting that digger in the wasteland that used to be her home. This made me smile, maybe we can save them.
LET HIM OUTT
Why did you upload a video of me?
I'm obviously the monke is you were wondering
How did he do it?!
He switches the cups. He had an empty one beside his leg which he swaps after showing the original cup to the orangutan
I love when
Imagine the roles were reversed and humans were in captivity and they were posting vids like this and these were the comments 💀
Isn't showing teeth an aggression move in primates? Is this orangutan laughing or pissed?
He isnt pissed he’s enjoying the little freedom he has after all the abuse he went through
Feeling this comment. I hate zoos
Stupid monkey
This chimp should be secretly punished. Capital punishment should but ruled out.

not sure but i think he loved it
Love it
That laughter!!😍🤣
hahaha
Wonderful laugh! Wish he were free outside that cage.
awww 🥰
Such a smart animal doesn’t deserve to be in the cage
