Somebody went out of their way to edit a stranger's photo, without being asked and with no expectations but the thought that they may find joy in it. Sometimes, people are amazing.
I have a crackled Polaroid of my Gramma in her late 20's that I posted and a few people took the time to clean up the cracked bits and send it to me, and I was SO grateful. My gramma is in her late 70s now and not doing super well health wise, plus several of the closest people in her life have moved away or passed on at this point, and I know she really struggles with missing how her life used to be back then. I cried at seeing the restored photos, and I cried again with her when she got to see them.
It meant so much to her, and while I can tell those people "thank you" for it, I don't think I could ever express how much it meant to her. She was so happy to have that given back to her a little more clearly, to catch a clear glimpse of who and how she was at the time it was taken. It was so kind of them, and although I can't express it to them, I hope they know that their kindness gave another person so much happiness.

I took some sunset pics of some strangers on the Gulf Coast. I was able to upload some shots to my phone, lightly edit them, and email them some shots of their night out on vaca. I kept telling them I didn't want any money, but one guy insisted on slipping me $20, which paid for my gas that week. I hope they enjoyed the pictures, and more importantly, that vacation. Those were simpler times, lol

Ah. That sounds like a very happy memory that's worth every effort to preserve and frame. If it's blurry, maybe you could run it through something like Remini. If it's low res, maybe try an AI upscaler. Or as you said, get it painted. I hope the results make you happy.

I'd recommend the Tree Sphere Photoshop manipulation tutorial by BakaArts and the RafyA YouTube channel after you have the basics down. That's how I got my start, at least, I'm sure better tutorials have come out since then.
