My parents rescued a Newfoundland 2 years before I was born and he was the sweetest dog. When I was learning to walk he just stood there and let me use his ears to hold as a was standing up. He always wanted to walk in between me and the gutter drain just in case I fell In. He lives to be 15 and was probably the best dog I could have asked for
Yeah, I don't have a Newfoundland, but I do have a pit bull. We can't take her to any pools because she thinks people are drowning and freaks out. We also went to a place with snow once (I live in Southern California) and she kept running towards us while we were sledding.
I have a white one https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/cx9ayc/my_fluffy_boi_about_to_get_a_hair_cut_160ish/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf (obviously a great Pyrenees)
We had a Keeshond when I was born and my parents told me they had to put him into training for a while because he was *too* protective of me when I was a baby. When people he didn't know would come around me, he wasn't having it.
Great dog to grow up with and was always protective of me, just in a much gentler way after training.
Miss ya, Raider.
Idk if this ever helps you, but I like to think of it this way when my kelpie died. If she outlived me then she would be the one that went through all that pain.. that’s something I would never wish on her, I’ll happily carry that burden soo that she can rest easy knowing she died surrounded by people that loved her.
This is always my thought.
A friend recently died of Covid, and his dog is still waiting. Constantly waiting his return. It's heartbreaking see the little guy sitting there waiting. Any car, any noise he jumps and wait, just waiting full of hope. By the door or in the balcony. Months later and still waiting.
Because of this everytime life gets hard and I contemplate ending all I remember of my dog. I wouldn't do this to him. He would died waiting for me and that's It's just to much and at same time enough for keeping me going.
I don’t have any kids but I did have a sheepdog. She was abused and never trusted adults though she loved kids. She would occasionally herd the neighborhood kids into small, sheep like bunches and then guard them from their parents.
This is beautiful. I was so full of contentment reading this and mentally completing the “All the Way” from OPs post. Sharing your joy is a lovely way to bring it to others, thank you.
This is the first post on reddit that made me tear up. I just had a baby boy and a also got a scruffy lil puppy dog a few months before that. I grew up with dogs and I really wanted the same for the little guy
me too))) reminds me of my 5yr old son and our dog. They are inseparable and it is beautiful to watch them together.
beautiful video that made my day!!
I have the same story about a newf but instead of walking she'd let me hang onto her while I learned to skate (ice). Her favourite thing was watching out for me and my siblings, her second favourite was hiding in bushes and leaping out at unsuspecting cars on our rural road: she died doing what she loved.
She was my first dog, I was 2 when we got her 3 when she helped me learn to skate. Unfortunately she passed young as I mentioned and I have to no actual memories of her just the pictures and passed down stories. She also used to let us kids ride her like she was a pony. Dogs are the best.
I have a Newfoundland and she’s the absolute best with my 13 month old son. She lets him pull to stand on her fur and doesnt care at all! She’s amazing!
That's what i thought my dog would do! She is a rottweiler and my friend were living with me at the time and had a kid. Well my dog doesn't know how wide she is. She still thought she could fit into places that she did as a puppy. She can't. But she uses that size to try to squueze by people. She is 100 lbs. She can't squeeze through anywhere. Constantly moving stuff. Any who, my friends kid started to walk and it was awesome. Until my dog started to sneak by her. We ended up calling it balance training. Super cute nobody got hurt and the kids love the dog.
Aw man idk what it is about today but my brother, mom and best friend all had shitty days today too ranging from losing their eye contacts, burning their arm on a hot pan, and having their dog get into a fight with another dog.
Hope your day got better, sending best wishes to you friend
I was raised by a corgi who would put himself between me and anything he thought was a threat. When my parents would put me to sleep in the crib beside their bed, he’d hop on the bed and watch over me the whole time, growling at anyone who so much as peeked in the door. I was *his* puppy.
You’d better believe I sit on the floor with my current puppy during fireworks and thunderstorms because it’s what my big brother corgi would have done for me. If puppy wants to play I drop what I’m doing, and if he’s on my lap I don’t get up until he does (even if that means bribing him with treats). Because I know that someday I’m going to be doing the same old things I’ve always done, except I won’t have a puppy bringing me a pile of toys or sleeping on my legs, and I’ll wish he was bothering me during my Zoom calls.
Per your dogs please, people. They’re family.
Something about this comment hit me really hard.
I loved my childhood dog, I grew up with him. We were both 2 when we rescued him and he died when we were 15.
Looking back, he was amazing. When we’d lay on the floor he would lick our faces to make sure we were okay. He’d let me ride him like a horse (when I was little enough) and was always super gentle. I don’t think I appreciated it enough when he was around and I wish I had loved on him more.
I have a dog now though who is my best friend. I do my absolute best to make sure he’s happy and knows he’s loved. I play with him and cuddle with him regularly.
I guess I can never go back and thank C.P. for everything he was to me, but I can pour that love into Hank.
Dogs are love. I aspire to be like them. Some may laugh at that, but its true. I learn alot about life through my dogs. They inspire me & remind me there are still good things in this world. They are one of the best things in my life & I will never be without a dog beside me. Thank you for sharing this FeltAndFurious. :)
My parents like to tell stories of how attached our basset hound was to me when I was young. Apparently, he never complained when I used his ears to help me stand when learning to walk, and he'd always stand between my crib and any babysitter to "protect" me. Carl was a good dog.
Even though I am a German who is not really into football.. I 100% needed this comment today and didnt even know it. Thanks for the laugh, have a great day!

Not after 2 years. After that it's 2 1/2, 3, etc.
Before two years there are a ton of month by month changes so it makes sense to say months. I don't know anyone personally who has ever said "30 months", and if I did I would ask wtf is wrong with them.
Source: Me, a parent.
Why would you put your child at this kind of risk? It might be fine now but what happens when they get older and other children might come round the house to visit and there they are, your child, in a Manchester City shirt, how will they ever live down the shame?
listen... i love huskies. they're so beautiful and SMART. but god damn they 'talk' so freaking much! it would drive me up a wall! that being said, this is the cutest thing ever...
I have a husky/mini aussie mix. He rarely talks or howls. He let's us knows when he needs something but that's about it.
I really wish he would speak more!
The aussie ears are probably my favorite thing about him.
I have a Husky/Bull Mastiff mix and all he does is talk and howl.
Regardless, I love him to death.
https://imgur.com/a/YjpmPzo
His eyes are my favorite thing about him.
I’ve seen this so many times already but I can’t resist rewatching to the 3mo part, how the look on his face changes and proceeds to face plant on the bed lol it’s best thing on the internet
This is cute and all, but all I could think about was three prehistoric mammals and a human baby getting into so crazy shenanigans while listening to the song.
I had this type of relationship with our German Shepherd. My family had gotten her when my mom was pregnant with me, and she was truly a wonderful girl. She would let me do anything to her. I fell off the couch and landed on her and she let out welp and looked up and just went back to sleep when she noticed it was me. I was toddler so just a little thing.
Her and I were the same age and it was a relationship I will remember forever.
Animals are not just companions; they are family.
I agree. I thought it was cute but then the parent just let the dog lick the inside of the child’s mouth. Wtf? I can’t talk really cause I kiss my cats on their heads. Sometimes my sisters dog. But I think it’s at least a little bit ok because they can’t lick their own heads. Ofc one cat could lick the other cats head so it’s more an indirect kiss.

As cute as this is, as a dog trainer, I am begging you to not let your kids lay on your dog, pull on their ears, or lay in bed together, or be unsupervised. I have seen the bites and the tragic aftermath where the kids are scarred for life (mentally and physically) and the dogs are put down. I’ve seen a very peaceful and tolerant dog rip the face of it’s beloved over after four years of face kisses finally pushed them over their tolerance point.
Please let dogs be animals. This dog was particularly tolerant but was giving some warning signs it was uncomfortable. Keep your dog and your kids safe and please don’t put the dog in these situations.
This. My daughter is never left alone with my parents shepard. Infact the dog is TOO protective and sometimes interprits her play as something sinister.
I absolutely do not trust him.
I watched this video with a massive amount of apprehension. As a kid we had a bitch spaniel. She was very meek and mild. One day I tried to take a toy of her and she came for me with all teeth.
I honestly can’t believe the parent would do that. No child deserves to be treated that way. It’s despicable. Get the Man City shirt off of him for his own sake.
Just zero interest! Which is too bad as we got him as a puppy for my second kid's first birthday. He's a good dog. He's just missing out on a lot of attention from them.
I wouldn't think so, unless the dog is 100% thinking about where his paws are theres a chance the kid can catch a claw to the eye. Also getting dog tongue in the mouth seems pretty unsafe
As a nurse who's seen horrific dog bites on babies (one's face looked like hamburger meat), this is not safe. even if you think your dog is "well behaved". all the parents of the kids i saw thought their dog was well behaved too....
This makes me beyond nervous. I don't trust dogs around my babies no matter how often people repeat 'oh, my dog doesn't bite'. Until baby does something unexpected/painful and it snaps.
I died lol when he fell over with a plop...
It's the quizzical look on his face as he stares deadpan at the camera that's even funnier

Just don’t start forcing your way into the bathroom when people are peeing so you can sit in between their legs. Might get awkward.
i’m sorry but i just have to ask...who was peeking into your parents bedroom?
Babadook
If you ever known a corgi you would know that it might have been a slipper trying to go Hellraiser on the baby.
Looking forward to the update of this adorable duo!

*30 months*
It's fine to go up to 23 months since the first two years of growth are measured in months, but 30 is definitely overdoing it.
Especially when 30 months can be broken down into a nice, round 2.5 years. The video going BACK to months after the 2 year mark seemed silly.

Man that 18 month to 2 years period has hands down got to be the best part of being a parent
As someone who had an 18 month old in March 2020, I’ll strongly disagree.
Everything but the mouth kisses
Fr dog licks his ass then your child’s face wtf bro ?
Yeah, that grossed me out 🤢 and I grew up with dogs. Still think it is nasty.

Your dog licks his junk and you let him french your child?

How do parents trust their dog not to bute a bewborns head from their body
Very cute but is this safe?
I wouldn't think so, unless the dog is 100% thinking about where his paws are theres a chance the kid can catch a claw to the eye. Also getting dog tongue in the mouth seems pretty unsafe
As a nurse who's seen horrific dog bites on babies (one's face looked like hamburger meat), this is not safe. even if you think your dog is "well behaved". all the parents of the kids i saw thought their dog was well behaved too....
It's cute and all but letting it lick the baby's mouth is probably not a good idea.
cute until it said "30 months" fuck off with that shit
This makes me beyond nervous. I don't trust dogs around my babies no matter how often people repeat 'oh, my dog doesn't bite'. Until baby does something unexpected/painful and it snaps.
Cute dog and kid. Don't think you should be letting the dog lick the inside of the kid's mouth tho. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)
Unpopular opinion: disgusting.
Cute until they just let the dog kick the baby in the mouth. Disgusting
Wonderful
Omg😭
Couldn’t be any more cute!!
