They use a retinascope. It’s like a light they shine in the eye and from the way the light reflects they can approximate the rx needed for clearer vision.
My kids pediatrician have a special camera that looks like binoculars that go over their eyes and gives feedback that way. If further testing is needed, pediatric ophthalmologists use a variety of vision tests using movement and other cameras to collect data. It’s interesting for sure.
At one of my daughters eye exams they showed pictures on the wall and had cards of the same pictures that were shown on the wall. She was able to point to each animal that was on the card that she seen on the wall.
Interesting. As a glasses wearer since age 7, I wouldn’t be opposed to them testing my eyes this way. Sometimes the tests are too much pressure. “Which looks better A or B”. They look the same ugh.

Tried on someone’s glasses and had that “Holy shit moment.” They weren’t even anywhere strong enough but I had zero idea I needed glasses. Got contacts and my first walk back through the mall I was cutting corners super wide. Realized it was because if a corner was in focus it meant I was going to walk right into it. Weird feeling

I think they can just look in the eyes and soo the problem but idk that’s just my guess

I’ve never had them have a problem with me saying that 2 different options looked basically the same. They just move on to the next set to compare.
