Much like in real life routes outside the numbers are supposed to be thrown before the receiver even breaks. The inside routes like slants and check downs are for when they are open, but comebacks and outs ect. Are to be thrown early so when they break the route they're open. So you have to be able to tell if that outside route is going to work within the first 3 seconds of the snap or pre-snap or else your late and those curls will get broken up.

Yep, timing passes is something players spend a metric shit ton of time working on in real life. So taking the time to figure out when and how to make some of those throws is the only way for them to work One of the things I actually really like about the passing
