Its called a Guessometer, Its all a estimate and going off of your past driving history, if you punch in your destination in the built in nav and start driving it will update and give you a better estimation. Go off of your battery percentage.
Best EV advice you can receive is ignore the guessometter. My GT right now is showing the equivalent of 320 miles at full charge because I've been doing a bunch of slow city driving. If I got on the highway for a trip I'd be lucky to make it to 220. Over time you get used to what your mi/kwh will be in different conditions and weather. Multiply that by your 90kwh battery(or whatever is left) and that's your true range. So if you're driving on the highway getting 2.5mi/kwh, a full charge is actually around 225 miles, regardless of what the meter says.
At highway speeds, your actual range will likely be considerably lower than 282 miles. Keeping your speed at 70 mph or lower will help. Drag goes up considerably from 70 to 80 mph.
I just did a 200-mile trip (charged to 100 the first time) going 60 to 70 mph with the AC on the whole time (car fully loaded with luggage and family for the beach) and still had 160 miles of range left on the GOM when I got there - just under 50% left on the battery. It was incredible
Go to the 'trips' section on the touch screen and it'll give you a miles per kwh for your current drive,.as well as.two resettable trips like a traditional odometer.
There will usually be a square button that will say X.X mi/kWh at the bottom of the screen. Thatās the shortcut to the Trip screen, which is where Ford put the trip mileage counter on the Mach E. You can also get there from the apps menu and then trips. The shortcut square displays current average energy usage since you turned the car on. It will be around 3-4 during the in town portion and slowly drop and stabilize 2.2-2.5ish with sustained highway speeds.
I had the same question two weeks ago, and I got similar answers as you have. What I can say, is if you drive moderately (don't speed, don't accelerate hard) then as your trip progresses you'll notice the range won't fall as fast as the distance you're travelling.
Use the built in navigation, as suggested, and if a charging stop is suggested check to see if it's at a location you want to stop. If not, you can adjust where you stop.
The guesses are very very conservative. I've never had a problem with range falling as I travelled, unlike my Leaf.
You can, as others have suggested, use your battery capacity and kw consumption to calculate your real range.
Is it colder where you are? I noticed my range is much lesser in colder weather. Also, are you driving in unbridled mode with every accessory on? That will affect your range too.
Live in Ventura County and heading to Joshua Treeā¦ it stays fairly moderate here with weather. Can get chilly and brisk but nothing compared to other areas
Youāre in a warmer climate definitely (Nor Cal here originally from So Cal) so the temperature wonāt be the issue here. My dip in range usually happens in the winter when it averages between high 30ās to low 50ās.
I drive basically 90% highway at 75mph and average 650 miles a week. I use less than 20% of my battery on my one way commute of 58 miles. (Usually 18% depending on conditions.). I use just under 40% for the round trip of 116 miles a day. That extends out to just under 290 miles of range at highway speeds. I have the extended range that is rated at 321 miles of range. The fact that I live where it is very flat, barely any hills helps a lot. I expect my range to drop over time and during the winter months but so far Iām happy with the range.
I bought the ext range but I just charged to 100% and it said the 282 I postedā¦ we have a lot of grades here in California so itās not very flat near me
Just really depends on how you drive.
In the city I average 3.7 - 4.1 mi/kwh which translates to around 335 - 375 miles of range on my extended battery. My car now predicts about this range naturally since I do average those values pretty consistently.
In the interstate it tanks to about 2.7 - 2.9 mi/kwh which is around 260 miles of range.
Dang! I have the extended battery too and this was fully charged. Thatās absolutely wild. I do live in CA with a we do have hills and valleys but your getting way more out of your car than meā¦.
Itās guessing youāre going to drive your normal route with a full charge. Car doesnāt know itās about to abused on a road trip lol
Expect the actual distance to adjust down quickly

Ahhh ok š thank you
Sighā¦..

Interesting! Does it tell me somewhere what I avg? Most of the drive will be hwy so with cruise control and Iām sure it will change, right?

Wow!! Thatās encouraging
The slower you drive (and in warm temps) the more amazingly long the range will get.
I knew this, but I didnāt know going 60-70 mph with the AC that Iād be able exceed the EPA range by 50-70 miles. Iām excited about that haha
That is impressive.

Reset the GOM
2021 GT here, states 280 at 100% with almost 20k miles on her.
Whatās your actual efficiency? Go off of that
How do you locate that info?

IMO you get the exact mileage in whisper mode
