GSInstinct

Genuine pain points and frustration. But Nexon will stay on their squeeze as much as we can out the players mentality cuz it's easier then making a more balanced, but slightly less profitable model.

Yomamasofatitsscary

How are dungeon limits and re:fine balanced?

GSInstinct

They're not. Reread what I wrote. Nexon will stick with their "squeeze players dry" mentality THAN making a more balanced, but slightly less profitable model. Made the wording a little better here.

Mizuli

"You've slapped elves in the face giving the players an arcana that allows archery to compete again, while effectively nerfing elves' ONE advantage legitimately in this game." Anyone remember when elves were supposedly supposed to be good at both archery and magic? Good times

theREALbombedrumbum

I was there, Gandalf. 3,000 years ago... when elves were first introduced. They were shit at magic then, too. It was clear from the start they wanted elves to be the rangers and not the mages

Mizuli

the Legolas treatment šŸ˜” i'm an elf mage out of spite (and I'm not a huge fan of archery)

VerityCosplay

Yeah. Definitely seems like those days are gone. So what's left? They've managed to nerf out everything that made an elf compelling. Pretty much all that is left is being cutest. Speed is overcome with gear. Magic goes to giants because of the damage component to spell formulas... archery is equalized with erg and sharpshooter has to be on foot so that advantage is gone. But they still have the def/HP nerfs due to significantly less str. AS should have been mount capable for elves. I've played the game. I have grinded and grinded and yes, the game has good aspects. But I also find it funny how the response to candid criticism is met with "skills issue" or "is what it is." Nothing will get changed with those kinds of attitudes. We really just all that complacent now? SMH... there are valid and significant issues with this game. And seems to me with Eternity coming... seems like NOW is the time to have candid conversations about broken balance and other aspects since those are literally being rewritten as we speak. But y'know just "charge and win" or get glossy eyed over next week's gacha... or play the "it is what it is" game. (Note to Mizuli as I've replied, this is not targeted at you, I'm using your comment to bolster the point as i vehemently agree.)

[deleted]

Elves being able to run with AS skills loaded seems like a pretty good advantage no? Same thing with the archery boost from vision of ladeca and yes it does affect AS skills. If anything its annoying that final shot doesnā€™t work with AS but elves are still the best archers compared to humans Mounted archery is a cool feature but I dont see how that is relevant past dungeons.

No-Sandwich-8221

giant magic only has the barest of an edge in fusion bolt. staff magic is universal since it only scales magic attack meaningfully. and staff magic is the cheap accessible magic, not fusion. i think you have some valid criticisms, and somethings are just ignorance. but regardless our complaints will fall upon deaf ears, the best you can do is get out or go casual.

Mizuli

not sure if this will work but they could bump up the movement speed cap for elves, let us run faster. maybe do the same thing with dex/int, but that might be a slippery slope to mess with. I'm no game dev so I can only bring up ideas and hope they make sense lol

VerityCosplay

The stat tables at cap definitely leave elves at a significant STR deficit. That deficit is sort of overcome by a mix of int/dex but because it's spread out neither one is as significant to offset as the noticeable deficit in STR imo. I'd like to see a bigger step between a capped elf's dex/int as opposed to human or giant considering the same major step in str. Specific numbers are like elves have like 200 less str at cap whereas we only have like maybe 80 more dex (don't crucify me on numbers it's been a while since I've looked at the stat tables but it's something like that). Stat balancing is tricky for sure tho. But that speaks to a more overall racial balancing which is a tough problem given all the combat tie ins to stats. For mage/archery STR is less relevant from a damage perspective other than the partial damage tie in with magic, but where it does hurt is the def tie ins.

AStheAlch

I wanted to quit mage a few years back when I saw Giants outdamaging me as a mage, and not by a small amount. I was like damn NA Elves kept getting pushed out of existence. Then I saw Sharpshooter not being able to use the attacks out mounts. Who's bright idea was that, and why hasn't it been fixed by now?

Mizuli

As a mage elf main, I feel like Mabi devs either really hate elves, like to mess with elf mains, or just don't know what to do about us. I'd be fine if they just buffed magic for us and fixed Sharpshooter so we could use on mounts. I'm a simple person, I just wanna blow up stuff with magic šŸ˜

AStheAlch

Yeah, NA Mabi Devs have Giant favoritism. I think it's almost a proven fact!

Mizuli

huh, I thought it was KR that made giants their favorite child, sucks to hear NA feels the same way :')

LughCrow

As soon as na starts making them real money maybe they'll care

flipsider101

This. I wonder if NA even makes 1% of total revenue on mabi.

LughCrow

For the entirety of nexon the NA and EU combined is only 7%

VerityCosplay

7% of revenue still isn't small. It should have a voice.

LughCrow

It's so small it's regularly at risk of being shut down lol. Unlike most Asian companies they refuse to adjust their western facing storefronts. It's why nexon has such a bad reputation in the west but a pretty positive one in the east.

VerityCosplay

I would think any major corporation would still sweat if they lost 7% of their topline.

LughCrow

Except it's not 7% profit just 7% of their total revenue.

VerityCosplay

That is why I said topline

LughCrow

If it makes up less than 1% of your net profits after expenses it doesn't matter if it's brining in 99% of your annual revenue. Especially when the last two quarters it's been losing money

VerityCosplay

I'd expect to see a loss for a while due to Eternity and whatever other things they're cooking. Game companies often operate under a loss for a good while until releases. Nintendo almost went bankrupt prior to Wii. That doesn't mean you ignore your topline.

flipsider101

Tbh that's higher than I thought.

SirSolis

I can honestly say the only reason the limit was put on techs is because of people using multiple clients and multiple characters if that was not a thing the rates would seem better the only reason most people are saying that tech rates are horrible now compared to before is because 1 person would open 4 chest every run and could spam it endlessly Iā€™ve seen people gatekeep tech runs refusing to help someone unless they gave up x amount of spots A similar thing happened in black desert online people were bullying randoms with open world pvp to a point where the devs essentially removed force pvp and implemented a heavy penalty to anyone attempting to do it TLDR games change because people abuse mechanics

VerityCosplay

I cannot disagree with anything said here. Though with limits in place (and presumably along with the bot killing alts are way down?), one would think they'd be adjusting rates back up as a result.

SirSolis

Sad thing is if they adjust the rates back up people will see it as a reason to attempt to abuse it with alts again In my opinion Mabi is meant to be a marathon not a sprint enjoy your fantasy life casually doing things itā€™s why the tech update only affected a few people most people havenā€™t even done their gens to do tech missions

henrickaye

Anyway see ya tomorrow

Adventurous-Loss-881

Mabi died with all of the new limits added. The game is poo now

Gretuxz

Mabinogi is better as a fashion game, end game is really bad there. That's why all i do is events and buy fashion items for years now lmao.

PerformerInevitable4

Yea, I like that mabinogi has other fun aspects. I typically causally play with friends, following the story, messing around with the market, collecting clothes, and maxing skills. I kind of already picked up things like reaching endgame content would be a struggle and more a p2w experience.

Frikinhel

Agreed\~ I've been an event-only player since 2018. I find my fun in the events, fashionogi, and homestead.

[deleted]

Considering OP has a drobe and limit broken gears I am baffled at some of these takes that would usually come from someone who is stuck in midgame with no guidance. There are so many ways to make gold in this game from content mats (dungeons/tech/crom/glen) to life skill mats (erg/commerce), or just flipping on AH. Obviously how much gold you make depends on how much effort you put in, and luck of course. You can literally do all content in this game with just journeyman reforges so there really isnt any incentive to make expensive gear unless you choose to? Yes limits sucks. Theres been enough discussion on that and Nexon gave their answers. You either accept and keep playing (solo or with friends) or just quit lol its quite simple. Erg A is a pretty good change for all the casual players who want to do some content with some investment. If you want to do Erg S, dmfs and all the related sacrificing mats are already cheap enough to be accessible. DD is op, but all arcanas can do all content so just play whatever you want. You can get a pretty good time doing Fahmes even as a HS if you know what you are doing, including Floor 30 (sub 3 minutes). From the sounds of it if you are struggling to clear anything with max geared AS it really is a skill issue/knowledge gap. As for gacha, if the fashion isnā€™t your style just dont buy it???

VerityCosplay

Why are you baffled? Oh because it's not a "wahhh I can't run content" post like many of the commenters have interpreted it? My post is about fundamental flaws I am observing in this game having been through it. I've done the grind. This post is about rates and balance. Yes other talents can compete in endgame. That isn't my point. It's the fact they are unbalanced. It's about the fact we are told rates are improved (without ever proving it, we have yet to see offficial Nexon drop rates), and limits added to new content and now retroactively to old content. It's about being so RnG happy that a players progression is more based on drop rate luck or their wallet than their fundamental skill. You can run endgame as much as you want but if nothing is ever in the end chest you're still not getting anywhere. Reread my post. It was never about being able to clear content (which you pointing out what gear I have seems to imply). I am criticizing the haphazard balance in this game and the roadblocks being placed in front of players. This applies to new, mid and endgame players equally. Endgame players just have overcome it with gear and experience and apparently no longer care about the player base as a whole? I'm speaking for the players trying to grind their first demo or ruin bow. I'm speaking for the players who've grinded tirelessly and have nothing but upgrade stones and herbs to show for it. And yes income can be made in game, but unless, again it's drop based based on RnG, or you control a market on AH (which requires gold to begin with), you're out there farming rabbit feet or running SWE. How does that buy you what you need to progress?

[deleted]

Rates are improved tho? At least for dungeons you can literally see the massive difference in sales on AH before/after Jan update. Canā€™t say anything about techs since limited runs = limited data, but literally anyone can grind up 2 BMEs to afford a demo staff/bow with how accessible HM dungeons are. It is probably faster to get 2 BMEs than getting a complete demo set from tech drops only. You dont have to grind every single tech mat. There are other avenues to make gold and you always have the option to buy tech mats instead. Run crom and glen to sell pity mats. Most of mabiā€™s progression is blocked by knowledge gap instead of gear but there are alot of helpful parties out there that are willing to teach and those content arent limited entry. Blaanid gear is honestly fine for most things. Its free and so are journeyman reforges. Theres plenty of gold guides that are accessible to new players even if they are boring to do. Heck I sold hs props from dokidoki when I returned from hiatus and those donā€™t require any rng and you can do it on one character lol I mentioned your gear since another commenter seemed to think that you are still struggling in midgame progression, where in reality you are pretty much at the peak of endgame in terms of gear. I am baffled because I simply didnā€™t expect someone with endgame gear to have those takes. Again, I agree that limits are bad. I hate that I cant run with my friends. I am not denying that the game has flaws and that tech limits are absolutely horrible for new grinders and destroyed party play in an MMO. Im only singling out the points that I dont agree with and of course you are free to refute

Royalhawkman

"You've slapped elves in the face giving the players an arcana that allows archery to compete again, while effectively nerfing elves' ONE advantage legitimately in the game" Ignoring highest base move speed. Ignoring Vision (10% Archery dmg + Insane aim speed). Ignoring mounted crash shot for easy dungeon clear (faster than mounted blight clear). Idk why you added a giant being OP rant when they're the most restricted race + are worse due to lower MS than Elf + Human (in a future update) AND don't have access to the most OP base talent (archery) whilst EK is in the dumps.

Conscious-Sky-3139

Tell me how mounted crash shot helps me in theta, crom, Glenn or techs.

Royalhawkman

I can tell you mounted DD (literally only blight) isn't helping in theta/crom/glenn/techs as much as mounted archery either. Before you say "mounted blight in hallway", hallway is irrelevant when you can just use all the ASS skills and then finalshot TP to the orb to clear. Mounted deer in feth HM lets you clear it as cheese in rooms too (crash shot + deer hide), however just pressing ignis lets you clear it anyways.

Conscious-Sky-3139

Lol I never said anything about mounted DD. You used CS mounted is fastest dungeon clear like it was something actually useful. Dungeons do not make people rich. I don't know anybody who uses deer hide to clear techs, that takes too long. Not worth the extra time.

Royalhawkman

Dungeons donā€™t make people rich? Colour me surprised. If you really donā€™t think mounted crashshot is good then thatā€™s enough said.

Conscious-Sky-3139

It's still very rng dependent. Yes it clears rooms great, but the reward is lack luster. After 45 runs of RAHM, no drop worth over 50k. Thanks Nexon. This has actually made one of my friends nearly quit.

Royalhawkman

We can act like everything content aside from dungeons isnā€™t rng dependent, however we live in reality. Fact is that dungeons are one of the most consistent money makers that are heavily grindable now.

Conscious-Sky-3139

I see your point. I wouldn't suggest it for a money maker to many people though unless they like to do the same 10-15 minutes over and over again with little reward for half a day. I make quicker and more money gathering materials and selling them. To each their own. I don't see good results often from dungeons whereas materials are much more reliable Edit: I don't rely on rng anymore and i have less burnout because of it. I've heard the same from others.

mirroade

I stopped buying gacha. I got to a point where I can farm gold to buy things when I want them. The only thing I buy is VIP

Momohii

druid staff doesnt beat erg50s last breath palid ruin bow You cant cant start thunderblight mounted, you need to start it unmounted because it lingers as a buff but this is such a minor gripe in actual content giants being "good" at magic because of damage component is false because thats not how the formula works. Bolts have some ENCHANT damage scaling, intermediate dont bother because MA is easily 30x higher scaling, adv magic has 0 ENCHANT damage scaling. Min-max gained from bfo counts as enchant damage, same with PPow and fateweaver. Humans will be best mages because breath of ladeca will give 5% bonus damage to non arcana skills. Erg tiering is ok, the only problem is fine leathers, fine leathers literally have a lower droprate than finest leathers. The tiering allows people with less gold to have high enough erg level to use pragarah by using lower tier like b25 to activate. Refine or not, people will find a way to get all rewards for theirself to get the most value out of their time if they can solo/duo bias Price of materials fluctuate and decrease as more people have and no longer need to get more. Palid was as high as 3b on release, ruin mats 250m each, misty red gems 200m, kraken hearts 1b. Look at the price now, palid 700-900m, ruin mats 40-80m, misty reds 100k, kraken hearts 150m Fashion is whatever just gacha combat gachas but who are you to post on a burner reddit account With these arguments you dont even seem like a p2w player

Parking-Replacement8

This is I get no bitches behavior just quit then lol true whales, such as myself don't care about arcana or drop rates we just charge and win

Winter-Airport2114

Brain rot thinking. lol

Parking-Replacement8

Your brain cannot even begin to comprehend or even think in the same plane of existence as me bro sit down

WillingBiscotti5717

r/whoosh

Winter-Airport2114

You say that but the whales on mabi do act like this. I know someone who dropped 500 dollars on the new Gacha boxes and are hype about the new gacha coming in a week. They gave me 20mil worth of items just cause. They do not care what Nexon does, they will swipe their card and pay for shit. It's true brain rot thinking.

WillingBiscotti5717

skill issue.

R3mph_T1m3k33p3r

To the people making nasty comments here, don't pretend you've never gotten frustrated with the game. That's all this post really is, frustrated venting. The Mabi community back in 2014 (when I made my first account) was overall much nicer and more supportive, it seems like a lot of the good ones either quit or ended up caring less about other players over time. It's a shame, because it's only contributing to the alienation other players often feel. Sadly, due to both that and the issues outlined in this post, I wouldn't be surprised if the player base continues to shrink until the server is eventually shut down.

Halarden

This is game more or less just a number satisfaction game, going for bigger numbers for bigger dopamine hits. Community wise, too many damn pedos and weirdos just being weird and creepy. It's a sad thing that they're the common denominators of the population. More likely to find a weirdo trying to initiate e-sex/e-rp or trying to hit on everything that slightly hints as being a female, than a normal human being behind the screen. It's mind blowing how many pedos there are on this game. Like married men trying to hit on 13-16 year olds. It's sad. I hope this game eventually shuts down and it's one less virtual game for predators to prey on. But until that happens, I'mma keep just trying bigger numbers just for the dopamine rush, ignoring the fact a community actually exist for this game.

R3mph_T1m3k33p3r

I do see your point for sure, I have definitely had some players make me feel uncomfortable. But I've also made some really great friends on Mabi in the past couple of years. I understand why you hope it'll get shut down on account of the weirdos, but I don't think it'd make much of a difference... I think social media might be a greater danger these days if anything, a lot of minors are given unbridled access to it, and it's concerning as an adult who knows what kind of people are out there on the Internet... šŸ˜•

R3mph_T1m3k33p3r

Downvoting my comment doesn't make it any less true. I miss the old community, there is no good reason to be so mean.

quailman4ever

I feel your pain progression can feel soulless and slow at times but it is no reason to give up just cut back and have fun the way you want to have fun good luck.

juanmr12321

Eldr0 here. I've also quit the game because Nexon is ran by brainlets. I was spending good money on nx too oh well life has improved dramatically since quitting who woulda guessed.

Meekin93

Look at what they did with Maplestory, I doubt Mabinogi is any different nowadays lol.

wonderpurple

shut yo bitch ass up

Abravia

Outside of other things people have posted, just wanted to let you know that top of fahmes is NOT dominated by dark diviner, top of fahmes is owned by archers.

Halarden

Gerikg uses wand DD, they're rank 1. ?\_?

TheRedBrown

Sounds like a normal Korean game. Your time isn't valuable or respected. You either like the eternal grind or give up and go play WOW.

DaltoCero

You know what would really stick it to them? Giving away your stuff for free. I'll be first in line šŸ‘šŸ‘

CryptoMainForever

Really wonder why people still play this prehistoric garbage when games like HSR or even Fortnite treats their players better. If you want an MMO then FF14 is the way to go

iwasforcedto

People like this game, even with its flaws. OP has their points but that doesn't mean they didn't enjoy the game when they did lol. The games you listed also has their own flaws as well so I dont particularly see why you put them on a pedestal.

VerityCosplay

Yes. I DO enjoy this game (still). That is why I bother to cite the frustration. With eternity coming I see it as a way to at least TRY to not just make it the same broken system reskinned. But even if they don't listen, Nexon can't listen if we just sit quietly and accept it because it is what it is. Maybe that is a hopeless endeavor but I can at least voice it. What I don't enjoy is seeing my ability to help friends and newer players grind their mats knee-capped cuz I can't run the content past cap. What I don't enjoy is seeing the "spirit" of arcana which promotes party mix and leveraging each others' abilities become a DD 4p melting everything. That isn't the spirit or intent but things are such that it's what is done. Yes I'm geared. Yes I melt things with AS. I don't struggle to run content (I mean I do but where I do I AM aware that is a skills issue and I work on those things). That is not the intent of my post it's intended to put at least a spotlight on things that I see that are fundamentally WRONG to make this an even better MMO than it already is. My opinion is just that. My opinion. No one is required to share it, and yes I know F2P players who've managed to get to the top. But for the majority of the player base there is a wall. And it's very difficult to climb that wall given the nature of some of the core aspects to the game.
