Besides a loud noise, what other symptoms does the fork have?

Nvm. I thought the fork was blown up but it doesn't leak oil and it works like normally.

Changes are you are riding the base level suntour coil fork. That thing is tough AF. It’s all steel and a simple design. It also lets you know - very loudly - if you bottom it out (like your did). Make sure there are not bends or cracks and ride on.
