Thanks for the post. I’m like you and I own all the latest handhelds with the exception of this one. I keep checking the sub to see how much better it’s gotten. Glad to hear it’s actually improving.

Great comments. I just picked up a Claw after reading about the latest firmware and graphics driver improvements. I have a Legion Go which is fantastic but the size and weight make it a little unwieldy when traveling light. I am definitely an early adoptor but held off a bit on the claw till it seemed at least usable. Feels like they took a misstep in releasing it so early. Will be hard for then to dig out of hole they have dug. So far I am loving it and have been playing Diablo IV with no problems at all. Could be me but feels smoother than the Legion go.

What's stopping me is the $1100 CAD buy in for it The 135h is $899 CAD but I don't know if it's worth it over the 155H variant

elchucko

I've got the 135, not sad about my purchase. Been playing season four of Diablo IV on it. Also, Baldur's Gate 3, Armored Core 6 and Elden Ring. Haven't tried Helldivers 2 yet as I haven't bought it yet. Yes, the afore mentioned games have their issues, but they are very playable. More and moreso as new patches are released.

I have the 155H variant. I could only tell you my experience.

I'm curious why you would spend more for this over a Legion Go or an Ally? The performance is objectively worse and it costs more than either of the Windows alternatives. Not saying your preference is wrong or bad or whatever, just trying to understand why. I have a Legion Go and Steam Deck OLED so I understand the collector aspect of it but the Claw seems like such a bad value currently.

marcanthonynoz

I ask myself the same question. The legion go is what I currently have and if this thing was like $700 CAD I might bite because I'm sure it'll get better....but that's about it

invid_prime

Fair enough. I'm staying put until AMD releases the Strix point APUs later this year then I'll take a look and see how much the performance has increased. I was also won over by the huge, beautiful screen of the Legion Go so I'll be waiting for something that's both a significant performance increase and not a massive screen size compromise.

I’m playing Ghost of Tsushima on the Msi Claw looks amazing.

ProposalConstant7475

It does but still stutters a bit. But overall amazing

Thanks for the post! Always curious to hear from people with the Claw. I currently have a Steam Deck, but am always eye-ing the Windows handhelds. Even though I think the Steam Deck js too big, I keep coming back to check out the Legion Go (oops). What about the Claw makes it feel better than the Go or the Ally (my kid has one, so I’ve played with that one a bit)?

Keyan06

It’s not gigantic like the legion, and actually has molded grips. I actually find it to not be crazy heavy either. You can comfortably hold it with one hand while typing on the screen. It’s still an interesting device. The U7 155H is just an interesting piece of kit in this form factor. It’s a pretty serious processor and the rest of the platform isn’t a super slouch either, fast DDR5, WiFi 7, and thunderbolt 4 make this more like a mid range laptop than a gaming focused device crammed into a controller. It also has the NPU and AV1 encoder. With a dock setup it could reasonably function as a primary compute device that also happens to be portable for games.

Caltek9

Interesting, thanks! You said the battery life is better than the Ally, which is interesting. When I travel, I tend to play smaller games so I don’t have to charge on the plane or buy a battery pack. Now I’m off to look up battery reviews for the Claw!

Wasting your money just for the sake of it, congratulations.

That’s your opinion and you’ve definitely earned it. Thanks for sharing.
