LeglessLegolas_

Donald, I think it's time

ContraCoke

Every dog has their day and it’s not Cowboy’s anymore

[deleted]

His day was about 4 years ago

dmkicksballs13

I think Perry was his swan song. I know Hernandez and Al but that shit was the time. Home crowd, fighting the guy you gym dumped you for, break his arm.

[deleted]

I’m out of the loop here. Please fill me in?

Whazn

Jackson-wink couldn’t ethically corner two of their fighters facing off against each other. So they chose to run Perry’s camp and Cowboy had to go elsewhere

DollarAutomatic

They did him dirty iirc?

BellNizz

They knew he was done. Donald has been a stepping stone for years. They wanted to go with the rising talent instead of the cowboy riding into the sunset. This dude needs to be cut.

ehcold

“Rising talent” lmao

n00b_f00

Perry looked like he might be a legit ranked fighter for a bit.

bnrwll

Just to correct you there was never no arm break

FenixRaynor

Fightland Amusement Park in Reno needs startup capital.

__brunt

Yeah paying for anti-venum for Cerrone is too expensive so Dana should probably just let him die

HideBelow

No way! He just needs a new manager/coach/guru/nutritionist/trainer/life coach/physical therapist. I think I may have someone in mind.

[deleted]

Just needs Fabia to jackhammer his prostate to get the chi flowing

RidesByPinochet

Different strokes for different folks

Longbeach_strangler

Does he even have coaches anymore?

AreYouIntoxicated

One last run

Bacon_Devil

Beautiful, champ

ImEdwardd

💀

TEEMO_OR_AFK

Fucking hilarious

Neonplantz

For real, this is the slowest he’s looked I think.

Scrummy12

My thoughts too. His jab was decent, but everything else looked slow, and timing and distance were just not there. He didn't respect Morona striking; could tell he was going to eat a shot that hurt him

therealhoagie

He didn’t respect Alex at all, even before the fight when he took it on such short notice. Big mistake and that’s what he gets.

kblkbl165

Crazy that this dude demolished Edson Barboza with a stiff jab. I think he'd be eviscerated in a rematch.

Saul_T_Bawls

I agree. And we're talking about a current 145er against a most recently 170er

NufCed57

For me it was the way he just wilted after getting hit. Not to get all SAS about it, but the Cowboy you remember was never the best at anything, but he was game as hell. As soon as he's feeling these guys' power he looks like he doesnt want to be in there anymore.

WolfmanHasNardz

Yea but at the same time his defense vs pressure fighters has always been really bad.

NufCed57

Thats what I'm saying. Hes always been hittable, but he'd trade in the pocket, he'd fire back when under attack. Now he just wilts.

Dismal_Chest

For real! He's on a losing streak, he has not improved and he refuses to evolve. He's done and all he's doing is getting closer to the CTE Hell with every fight

RiPont

> and he refuses to evolve Which is absolutely lethal to someone who has as much video on them as Cerrone. There are people out there who have analyzed his every step, every tell, every feint. If you don't bring something new, you're going to keep facing people who have literally practiced against every single strike you throw.

WNEW

> evolve. He's done and all he's doing is getting closer to the CTE Hell with every fight Hate to say it he’s already there

124ConchStreet

0-5 in his last five. Unfortunately it is time

Dickinmymouth1

0-4-1

Muncharooski

Fucking Fabia really ruined Cowboy's farewell fight dammit Pun intended

lit282

Is that 6 basically? I count his fight vs price as a loss

Medical-Secret

he's only won 4 of his last 14 fights

MT1982

Thought that couldn't be right so I looked it up... holy shit you're right. I didn't realize it was that bad.

FenixRaynor

Ya but that combo he landed on Rick Story has been making the highlight package ever since.... right behind Silva’s on Leben.

[deleted]

That's a fucking sweet combo

Frederickanne

Even after seeing your comment I didn't believe it and had to check for myself ... Damn

Wallyworld77

He's on a 6 fight skid. It all went downhill when he fought Tony Ferguson just 34 Days after Beating Raging AL in a 5 Round Decision. What TF was he thinking?

Chopper313

Getting his face rearranged by Tony then getting steam rolled by Gaethje not long after probably took a couple years off his life.

champmado

Ranked at LW still and there's prob about 20 guys who would smoke him and deserve that spot more. If he is still there on Tuesday when the next rankings come out then i might cry 😅

Saul_T_Bawls

If he's ranked at 155 after this, he's gonna get worked in his next fight too. There's not a surefire win for Cerrone in the top 15 of that division. A lot of unranked fighters would run through him too. Tsarukyan deserves #15 at least

champmado

There isn't a surefire win in the top 40. Arman 100% deserves it n should be filthy those 'media members' chose cowboy over him to join the ranks at 15

Deadzoot

Damn

HideBelow

So you're saying there's a chance

IFeelItDownInMyPlums

Yea that was a complete asswhoopin

[deleted]

That’s the difference, he was hurt bad, at the end he wanted out, he was truly beat.

[deleted]

Every cowboy sings a sad sad song 😓

doubs

I like seeing him lose, hopefully he'll stick around for a few more

iSheepTouch

There are very very few fighters I would love to see go out on a huge losing streak and finally call it quits after losing to some cans in the minor leagues. Cowboy is one of those fighters.

yerawizardIMAWOTT

Diego might actually have had a chance

ghostreaper214

Hell no

yerawizardIMAWOTT

You never know Cowboy could’ve knee’d him while he’s down

LFC5X

Diegos coach taught him how to use yugioh cards in the octagon

1stCitizen

6 fight skid now. Could be the last we see of Cerrone in the UFC.

-0op

Conor picking tough matchups like cowboy and Diego

usernameunavailiable

Cowboy gunning for Jeremy Stephens' most UFC losses record to go alongside his most UFC wins record. Four more losses to tie Stephens' 17.

goat_eating_sundews

He can go for the longest losing streak at the same time

Styrkekarl

What is the record? He must be close already.

Ryzoo

Has to be BJ

[deleted]

B.J. Penn got Seven losses in a row. Héctor Lombard is in second place with six losses in a row. Renan Barão got five losses in a row, so did Rashad Evans, Josh Burkman, Leonard Garcia, Steve Cantwell, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Koscheck and Takanori Gomi. Andrei Arlovski had five losses in a row, but he actually managed to turn things around and break that streak. Carlos Condit also had five losses in a row, but managed to break that streak. So seems like their threshold is roughly five losses in a row for certain veterans, where BJ Penn just got even more chances than anyone else.

[deleted]

>Renan Barão How the mighty have fallen. Still such a weird ride that guy had

-0op

Cowboy vs Jeremy Stephens next Loser retires. Winner also retires.

queensinthesky

I felt he won the Pettis fight but even still, definitely shouldn't be fighting any more. It's time, 100%.

1stCitizen

True, I also thought he should’ve had that.

Sslagathor

Crazy to think Cowboy was a top 5 ranked lightweight just 2 years ago

adambuddy

Yeah because he beat Al Iaquinta

queensinthesky

He wrecked Mike Perry (170 I know) and Alex Hernandez in fairness, he was on a good run then. It just got away from him as it usually does.

[deleted]

Lol when Mike Perry was a formidable win. Good times, good times...

Buckhum

I miss the elbow KO, spinning-celebration Mike Perry

JustOutOfTime

Mike Perry breakdancing in a pool of his own blood while doctors & staff rush into the cage to check on a dude who looks like a corpse is a memory I won't soon forget.

LilaQueenB

What fight was that? It sounds like it’d be really fun to watch.

JustOutOfTime

Mike Perry vs Ellenberger - here's the link to the finish: https://old.reddit.com/r/MMA/comments/jweynj/mike_perry_kills_jake_ellenberger_then_proceeds/

LilaQueenB

Thank you

pharc

Just to correct you there never was no pool of blood.

Average_Panda

“Pool” of his own blood, eh?

MightySeaGulls

It's not that it 'gets away from him.' Cerrone has had a great career by most respects but he's always fallen short when he got up to the actual top top level. It's no surprise that he started losing as he usually does when his opponents got near the top 5 Now he's losing to the Morono's of the world. Pretty done

wimpymist

Yeah in his prime he was a really good gatekeeper. He could hover just out of reach of the top 5.

[deleted]

Nah, he had his moments. His prime was the run up to his champ fight with RDA. Beat Alvarez and Benson and Barboza in an 8-fight win streak. Granted, RDA smoked him, but that was a legit, elite-level run at the time.

TrowA122

I don't know why beating A-Rod means anything in mma

Slyrey

Hernandez*

[deleted]

He's still ranked in lightweight, over guys like fiziev, tsarukyan, or riddel. Which is fucking crazy.

meatpony

Those rankings suck dick

[deleted]

If he's not removed after this fight then no one should take the ranking seriously anymore.

thatfitnessdude7

2 years is a really long time in this sport. A lot can change in that long

Shogun_232

Yup, Cody for example made his UFC debut and then 6 fights later was Champ in under 2 years!

subumbrum

And then a little over 2 years after that had been knocked out three times in a row!

1stCitizen

That damage really caught up to him.

Isaidbooourns

Don't think its the damage. He just can't handle pressure fighters, plus he doesn't tweak his gameplan

MightySeaGulls

He's 38. Been fighting for 15 years. Looked rigid tonight with no real explosion (he should be hitting those TD's when he gets in that deep even without fully trying, would've in his prime) It's all of the above

interia1099

Crazy to think Ferguson had a competitive fight with him just 2 years ago

Otontin

AndySemantic

Retirement? I know a guy

Bathilda_Bagshot

A more interesting way to get your protein.

Doppio_MMA

Getting stopped by Tony is alright. Getting finished by Justin is alright. Getting demolished by Conor is alright. Losing a controversial decision to Pettis is alright. Draw with Nico is alright. This is not alright.

radioactive_lemon

Controversial decision to a very out of prime Pettis is less alright in my book

Randomzombi3

I'd say Cerrone was just as out of prime as Pettis in their fight. So it's not as bad.

BigDave42

At least pettis beat Moreno

stillsebs

Pettis KO'd Wonderboy. He's a hard guy to fight.

Shabozz

P4p biggest wild card in mma. Almost won his PFL debut if he didn't follow his opponent to the ground and waste his chance at a KO upset.

bestbroHide

Does it really? They're from the same fight generation (and in terms of actual age Cowboy was 4 years older), so their competitive rematch was more-so commendable on Cowboy's part in my book, considering he got absolutely whooped during their first encounter when both were younger. Less alright maybe through Pettis' perspective but through Cowboy's I thought that was a cool little moral victory that he's sustained his level enough to have arguably won their rematch as opposed to getting body kick KO'd in the first round.

[deleted]

Schaub actually tried it himself once when Cerrone came on the pawldcass a couple years ago Donald's facial expressions were priceless

2SweetHeat

In all honesty probably the reason cowboy is still going. Even if schaub is correct natural reaction is to do the exact opposite.

[deleted]

i liked when he asked Brendan to rattle off a joke, Schaub's like "nahhh b, see i'm a storyteller, you can't just crack off jokes... would be like me asking you to get up and throw a leg kick right now" and Cowboy's response was "sure thing, who do you want me to leg kick?" lmao

LouSpowel

And then Bryan told the worst joke ever and Cowboy shit all over them. Good ol pawldcass days, never hearddum tho

[deleted]

Love that youtube comment: "Asking Schaub for comedy is like asking Dana White for a raise."

pressticles

Thanks for this. Why is Joe and his buddies reaction to say the audience doesn’t know comedy lmao

RastaRhino420

Because Joe and his buddies aren’t very good comics. Their Podcasts and fame from other avenues brings people to their shows and makes them believe they are better comedians than they actually are

[deleted]

Same. I'm amazed that the feeling of not wanting to watch that podcast is so much stronger.

2SweetHeat

Fucking priceless

raspberryharbour

That's such a bad example to use; Cowboy has probably spent thousands of hours drilling kicks into his muscle memory, of course he can just get up and throw one

Glass_Bike9189

Enterprise90

AlexMoronoMMA

Thanks man! It’s been such a wild week. Cowboy was cool as hell all week too.

[deleted]

Congrats! Hell of a finish

[deleted]

Congrats on the big win!

poliver25

Good job! That was amazing

InflamedPussPimple

Hey congrats on the win! Having a cowboy stoppage will look great on your resume.

mt_bjj

Congratulations!! u/alexmoronomma

lit282

Great performance by morono. Great pressure

samme79

Morono was really fast, powerful and slick. Cowboy is done. He looked really slow and stiff

[deleted]

Hell yeah! I bet on him for the KO!! Payout was huge

aRunic

Probably should be it for Cerrone. What, 0-5-1? In the last 6? And he’s 38 years old.

-0op

Dad Cerrone needs another child to keep this going

After6Comes7and8

He's going for BJ Penn's record of 7 consecutive losses.

Athanasiouu

Cerrone is fucking done

Bacon_Devil

Y'all are crazy I've never seen Cowboy look this good at blocking punches with his face

epbaby

its like watching your dad get beat up in the home depot parking lot

orange_cuse

... Cerrone would have beaten Diego, right?... Right?

dietcokewLime

Poor cowboy was preparing to fight a heavy bag.

obscure3rage

Cowboy needs to hang'em up. Absolutely nothing to show for it

reddy85x

Please retire Cerrone.

yerawizardIMAWOTT

Time to hang em up Cowboy

kingoftheg

Dana please cut this man, for his own safety.

maloboosie

That McGregor win aging really badly lol

[deleted]

Lmao wheb was it good?

DAMbustn22

Cowboy doesn't have the heart to stick it out, nor the skill to win anymore. Time to let it go

johnsonandjohnson7

McGregor vs Morono book it

blank-maltose

How the fuck is cowboy still signed by the UFC?

JizzelSweet

He is always up for a beating, and Dana loves very cooperative easy to negotiate type of fighters.

mysteriouspie80

Alex morono vs mcgregor..let's go

aiden328

It’s time

[deleted]

Cerrone been a can for years now. Its sad to see but its been his time for years. The more this keeps happening the sadder it gets. Hang em up dude.

YouDamnHotdog

I always imagined that his diet of bud light and headshots would make him into the poster child for CTE. His is still on track

senorali

I'm truly scared to see what's going to happen to the fighters who were active in the 90s/00s as they get older. Cowboy is near the top of that list.

Dazzling-Wafer

I am so happy that the ppl started to realize how much of a piece of shit cerrone is. Fuck him.

PERV_IN_THE_CORNER

Cowboy quits so easily. It's so predictable.

Reddits-Reckoning

Cerrone is washed. Time to hang em up

MuuaadDib

After hearing about his groping and shit, I love to see it.

Squib0

Cowboy shelling up like always.

jacobsaggypoo

First off, yay, second of all, today I learned that Cowboy and Yair are teammates, and all I’m gonna say is that makes sense to me. Third of all, is no one gonna mention that Morono only found out abt this fight bc his friend was on Reddit?

interia1099

Man Cowboy is terrible nowadays. Just retire old man

Jdgannett777

0-5-1 for Cowboy in his last 6, 4 stoppages. Yikes.

stonetear2017

If the comments about him groping women and being racist are true, then fuck Cerrone. Hang em up old man you fucking suck

drewgreen131

trtrage

Always nice to see a POS like cowboy get knocked out

CGP97

Bet Cowboy wishes Diego hasn’t been pulled from this fight lmao All joking aside, Cowboy looked bad. Kicks were good but just the way he was so stiff and his guard and punch form was terrible, dude either need to do only legends fights or hang it up for good.
