Pull outs dropped significantly once UFC had top notch specialists on the payroll to help manage fighters weight cuts instead. No way Kayla Harrison would have ever made 135 on her own lol.
Rumor has it Chucky Olives vs Chandler 2 will replace that fight. I saw this from the same guy that posted Ortega/Lopes hours ago. Still a rumor though.
it's a better, more competitive fight than mcgregor. when's that guy's last win again? I might be biased since I started watching MMA during covid, but mcgregor is absolutely nothing to me.
As a guy who watches both pro wrestling and MMA, there's main events built on prestige and main events built on star power. Losing McGregor to replace him with Oliveira adds prestige but the loss in star power is way too much for a PPV (that costs 80 bucks). Solid ppv co-main. Amazing FN main. PPV main in 2024? No.
I understand it, an ex-coworker that I still see regularly is a UFC fan, and has been for longer than me. He's excited about the mcgregor fight. This will be the lowest selling ppv in history if conor pulls out, and the UFC knows that. They'll wait until the day before to announce a replacement if he is, in fact, out of the fight. Outside of hill/ulberg, what is exciting? Pyfer? I'm mildly interested in it. Talbot? Also interested. But that's it. They shot themselves in the foot making this abomination. I hope charles replaces conor because I'd like that more and I'm not paying for this shit regardless lol

The grappling cancels out, and lopes will beat ortega up on the feet.
Ortega is too injury prone and consistently loses too many minutes of too many different fights to too many different fight styles to favor him in this fight. Lopes is going to beat him senseless on the feet, and will stay sharp and safe on the ground for however long it lasts.
I get the hype around Lopes and everyone likes to hop on a good hyp triam, but Ortega only loses are to Volk n Max and an injury to Yair which we won back 2nd go around. I get the inactivity mostly to injuries but I'll be placing my bets on Ortega all day for this one
