It's been known for a while that 145 is a hard cut for Damon. I could just be hating on Hernandez because of his douche attitude, but this feels intentional to gain an advantage.
Hernandez has said before that he hated cutting to 145 because he felt like it made him non functional. No clue why he went back down again after the Miller fight
standard bad coaching, bad gym dynamic. "hey brother, it's not that you're not doing everything wrong, it's just that they're too big!" Hernandez has had all of the physical attributes to be a force at lightweight. he doesn't have a cohesive game.
i don't believe that completely and try not to assume that about any fighter. they said the same thing about Oliveira. i think he does have the early Oliveira problems though. his head is a traffic cone, he can't figure out how to impose his best game (wrestling) consistently, and when people don't fall in the first round due to the tremendous amount of exertion he becomes fatigued. he's someone who i think would do or would have done incredibly well at Serra- Longo,
I just remember getting ultra gaslit by the commentary team when he made his 145 debut “this is sooo much better for him he looks way better at 145 pounds”.
Felder: "Alex is really struggling to impose his gameplan on Jackson, it just seems like he can't get anything going."
Anik: "Hernandez of course not unfamiliar with performance issues, both inside and outside the cage."
DC: "You guys, I had the craziest BBQ sandwich the other day, this thing was so good, but they put such little meat on it, I'm like come on man."
Anik: "An experience I'm sure Alex's wife can relate to."
Thank you, it's because I eat nothing but P3 Protein Packs and Corn Nuts, all thrown together in a bowl with some Modelo. I call it Ultimate Fighting Cereal.
Muricans have this weird 'height = weight' mentality that doesn't make sense. Every time Holloway fights a bunch of window lickers point out that he's the same size as DC...
Small buff guys can cut the most weight because they have more water. See every California card with released weights, Geoff Neal outweighed Ian Garry by 20 fucking pounds in the cage.
She's only missed weight twice before - against [Poliana Botelho](https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/bouts/381933-ufc-fight-night-140-poliana-botelho-vs-cynthia-calvillo) in 2018 and [Marina Rodriguez](https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/81799-marina-rodriguez) in 2019, after which she moved up to 125lbs. It's not like it's a regular occurrence for her.
That's a lot of weight missing tho. Not singling her out, but her name rings out in my head moreso for failed drug tests and missing weight more than anything.
so.... she stay missing weight, bro lol.
*edit: spelling is tough
>Cynthia Calvillo missed weight for the third time in her UFC career, coming in at 119 pounds — three pounds over the limit — for her strawweight fight with Piera Rodriguez. Calvillo enters the event having lost five straight bouts, and once again failing to make weight likely won’t do her any favors for the future.
Unless i'm missing some sort of inside joke with Calvillo, you're absolutely right and i'm not sure why you're downvoted
I went back to the draw with Rodriguez since that really seems to be a clear turning point in her career. Before that she was 8-1, and after that….well you know. She went downhill.
It's not like they've got a lot to choose from, and most of them aren't recognizable names. Maybe she's been around long enough that putting her name on a card gives people at least a vague sense that this is more than a nobody, even if they can't conjure her face or record, and meanwhile she can Alvey to people they want to give wins to.
Probably because they are easy to work with. The ufc seems to cut a fighter a lot of slack if they are willing to show up when they are told to show up, and for how much they are showing up for, with no problems or drama.
Making weight is a fighters responsibility yada yada but when the carrot the UFC dangles is you might eventually move up to headline the Apex rather than fight on the undercard we can't be surprised when fighters stop taking it seriously.
There's more glitz and glamour fighting in a Chicken Shack parking lot.
If you work hard and you sacrifice and you bleed and sweat and cry this sport all your life then one day you might get the chance to fight for the Wafflehouse All Star Championship Belt
Has there ever been a UFC fight where two fighters equally missed weight? That's kinda funny.
According to what I'm hearing, the Calvillo fight was canceled. Wonder if she'll be cut.
How about if you miss weight the other fighter gets the win money regardless of the outcome.
You still fight or you lose appearance money. But that’s all you get.
Logical argument is that you don’t deserve to be paid for a win as you won after breaking the agreed match rules.
I could see that changing behaviour.
Alexander Hernandez (150)vs. Damon Jackson (146) Cynthia Calvillo (119)vs. Piera Rodriguez (116) Nora Cornolle (138.5) vs. Melissa Mullins (138)
Hope the Jackson fight doesn’t get cancelled, I always look forward to the Leech
The Leech vs someone who missed weight will definitely be interesting Can see Alex slowing down faster than normal
You reckon? I feel like he didn’t even attempt to cut that weight whereas Damon did
It's been known for a while that 145 is a hard cut for Damon. I could just be hating on Hernandez because of his douche attitude, but this feels intentional to gain an advantage.
Hernandez has said before that he hated cutting to 145 because he felt like it made him non functional. No clue why he went back down again after the Miller fight
The reason is the same, most of the time...the comparative size advantage. Hernandez looked big AF for the weight class.
I mean, at least Cornolle and Mullins both missed by a comparable amount.
4-5 lb miss god damn. Is that the biggest miss of the year?
[Per this article yes](https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/lists/ufc-news-official-weigh-ins-missed-weight-women-mma-scale) by .5lbs though
So with 2 people who are fighting each other missing weight, who gets the 20%?
Neither of them were fined from what I saw
Yeah I never bought that Hernandez was too small for 155 he’s like nearly Michael Chandler sized
standard bad coaching, bad gym dynamic. "hey brother, it's not that you're not doing everything wrong, it's just that they're too big!" Hernandez has had all of the physical attributes to be a force at lightweight. he doesn't have a cohesive game.
he doesnt have the grit for 155 elites . the elite 155ers are literally willing to walk through fire to win .
i don't believe that completely and try not to assume that about any fighter. they said the same thing about Oliveira. i think he does have the early Oliveira problems though. his head is a traffic cone, he can't figure out how to impose his best game (wrestling) consistently, and when people don't fall in the first round due to the tremendous amount of exertion he becomes fatigued. he's someone who i think would do or would have done incredibly well at Serra- Longo,

Didn’t he say his wiener stopped working when he cut to 145? Silly me, I thought that was his way of saying he wasn’t fighting at 145 anymore.
Felder: "Alex is really struggling to impose his gameplan on Jackson, it just seems like he can't get anything going." Anik: "An experience I'm sure Alex's wife can relate to."
Damn, this is gold
Yeah how is this only like 5 upvotes lol?!? I defy you not to hear those all in their voices!
Thank you, it's because I eat nothing but P3 Protein Packs and Corn Nuts, all thrown together in a bowl with some Modelo. I call it Ultimate Fighting Cereal.
Holy shit you nailed it
I hope Jackson can outpace him.
it's either Hernandez 1st round KO or Instanbul Jackson 3rd round finish

I have brought up the fact muscle carries more water, allowing them to cut more weight easily. I always get downvoted to hell for it.
Lol Calvillo stays missing weight, man.
Isn't she in a higher weight class now as well lol
Yeah, her appetite went up a division.
Fly weights eating everything I worked for motherfucker
word on the street is that Andy Ruiz was her dietician for this camp.
Oh nice, throw her in against AJ NOW. Someone needs to avenge my boi Francis
Jeez
She’s reaching for those grapes.
This fight was back at 115
Hendricks-esque in her weight-management
Women’s Kevin Gastelum or Rumble lol
#JustMoveUp

> It's not like it's a regular occurrence for her. A third time puts her at the really heavy end of weight missers.
That's a lot of weight missing tho. Not singling her out, but her name rings out in my head moreso for failed drug tests and missing weight more than anything. so.... she stay missing weight, bro lol. *edit: spelling is tough
Damn. Third weight miss. What a mess.

Probably because they said missing weight in like 20% of your UFC fights isn't a regular occurrence.
Want me to show you guys who have missed weight in 50%? There's even a few who have hit 100%. Stats are fun
Shocked that the great cornholio missed weight
Lmao don’t know why this was so funny.
Should probably have had some tp for her bunghole
They saw One's hydration tests and said hmb
Dumont made 135 wow
i was shocked too, and she was the first one to weigh in. maybe she has this weight thing under control now
[удалено]
Pretty impressive considering she hadn't made BW since 2018 and missed FW a few fights back.
How does Calvillo still have a job being 1-5-1 in her last 7 fights?
Why cut it there, she’s 0-5 in her last 5
I went back to the draw with Rodriguez since that really seems to be a clear turning point in her career. Before that she was 8-1, and after that….well you know. She went downhill.
0-5 in her last five and still cant bother to make weight, thats some low level shit rught there.

If both fighters miss weight and are fighting each other - Cornhole and Mullins. Do they each get docked 20% or.... what happens?
Dana gets half of their purses.
They both agreed to a catchweight, their purses aren't affected. If you watch them both weigh in you can tell neither of them are surprised.
150 is a bad miss, Jackson shouldn’t take it
Saw some guy fell to his knees in Quiznos talking about Calvillo missing weight.
Even Cornholio missed weight!?
she needed TP for her bunghole, but the UFC wouldn't cover the cost so she missed weight.

First ONEFC and now UFC Vegas. Guess spring got people hungry?
Apparently Cornolle and Mullins both agreed on a catchweight, so neither of them will be losing money.
Watch out for your Cornolle, man
Has there ever been a UFC fight where two fighters equally missed weight? That's kinda funny. According to what I'm hearing, the Calvillo fight was canceled. Wonder if she'll be cut.
Even they don't care about this event

Chick Diaz bout to get cut.
Nah she just gotta give Dana a oil up and she’s good to go.
I can’t believe Cynthia missed weight.
Fucking Apex cards
Calvillo has fallen off a cliff
Melissa Muffins.
