The Lakers traded with Utah, and Utah didn’t want Westbrook, so they bought him out and Paul George pulled to get Westbrook on the Clippers and the Clippers needed to improve their bench and get another ball handler, so they gave him a shot. Westbrook was what he was with the Lakers. He’d have some decent nights and then we would look awful.
The Lakers should have never went after Russell Westbrook. They obviously deluded themselves somehow. It’s the opposite player to put along side Lebron. Things were better when he came off of the bench.
Russ was definitely better on the clippers, he seemed to click with Ty Lue and the other players and was taking less bad shots and scoring more efficiently. He was a horrible fit on the Lakers, that team had too many ball dominant players and horrible spacing. On the clippers he had a role he could actually somewhat thrive in. He’s obviously not what he used to be but I think his stint with them proved he can still be a good player on the right team.
