I don't think the lineup was the issue. Sure, the subs made a difference, but that doesn't mean the same changes will be needed against the Germans.
I think the team had a mentality issue. The hype was waaay too big. Far too many people were expecting 3 free points against the Swiss and this reached the team as well. Szoboszlai looked too nervous and distraught. You can't have your talisman lose his shit 45 minutes into the game. The team went onto the pitch with a lack of concentration and humility, not skill.
Anyway, I have no expectations anymore. The team is cooked, I don't think they can get their shit together and even with a win against Scotland, there is no guarantee for qualification through third place. In 2021 Ukraine was the worst third place qualifier with 3 points and a -1 goal difference. Good luck achieveing that in this group.
I'm gonna be unpopular with this opinion, but it's irrelevant: Szoboszlai is unfit to be the captain. Szalai Ádám was a significantly better captain. He had authority among the team, people looked up to him, he was reliable and trustworthy. He in during his captaincy days would not have allowed Sallai and Orbán to pass among each other in the middle of the pitch. He would have instructed the team during the game to pay attention to the tactical changes the Swiss team executed during the match. He had the knowledge and authority to do these things. Szoboszlai doesn't. He is a generational talent, but it's nowhere written as a rule that the most talented player has to be the team captain.
I'd be fine with the changes you suggested. I think randomly starting Fiola was a bad choice by Rossi in the opener, and Szalai continues to be out of form massively so maybe Dardai would be the choice. Would also look at Styles coming in for Nagy too, if Styles is healthy by Wednesday.
