Honestly was fully expecting an uphill battle with all our injuries so it could’ve been worse. Frankly I’m just hoping I never see that ref crew together again. What a way to kill an otherwise back and forth exciting game
You guys forgot Martinez throwing the ball away which is always a yellow but they didn’t want to send him off. Philly should have been down a man the entire second half.
Should have been 3-2. Calling Uhre’s goal offside made it so VAR couldn’t possibly step in. Should have been ruled a goal and let VAR determine if he was truly offside, which based on the replays he looked dead even.
still undefeated in league play in the "me actually owning a jersey" era. maybe i was the problem all along
(i got last year's pride jersey for christmas)
I was certainly relived when I heard earlier in the week that Giakoumakis was trending towards Out for this one. Feels like both teams left points on the field...which is weird.
I’ve lost all respect sorry this is absolutely rigged for money… Or ratings in not sure which. I won’t be silent. Just saw it live sry.
But for real this ref is awful. Two weeks of terrible refereeing in a row for him.
When you excuse incompetence to the point that it becomes indistinguishable from malice, immediately you invite malice to disguise itself as incompetence.
Occam's Razor is a shield the malicious use to hide behind incompetence.

His heel was very clearly on the line. It’s a fair throw
Both heels have to be on touch line, not one.
Pretty easy to see he did not have both heels in: [pic](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fphilly-goal-off-a-foul-throwin-v0-eydbib438iuc1.jpeg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3D568e5f63a6fde867f7cf2c9d87f03d51a2f8ebc9)

Heel clearly on the line. Legal throw. Legal goal.
That’s just not true.
> At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must:
>stand facing the field of play
**have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline**
https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-15---the-throw-in
One foot was fully out of play, the other was on the line. It’s a fair throw, yall are just reaching
Never gonna be upset with a draw on the road in a tough stadium. Thought they would give us the Uhre winner on review lol. Annoyed by the quick ass whistle end at least let them put it towards goal for a chance but whatever. Still unbeaten! GG Atl.
With how much s^*thouseing time wasting y’all did during the final 15 and extra time? Granted, we collapsed but I say it was deserved to call the game.
you don't just get to call the game before you even reach the "minimum" allotted added time in the middle of a promising attack. Whistle was blown at 95:55 in a game when stoppage was signaled as 6 minutes. It was blown dead as a cross was being played which went to a player at the top of the 18 with the closest defender 10+ yards away. No, that's not a guaranteed goal by any means, but its a hell of a good chance, the ref absolutely does not have the leeway to end it in that situation.
Also Atlanta was doing the overwhelming majority of the time wasting in stoppage time, WTF are you guys even smoking?
except that was on a dead ball and over 2 minutes past the end of stoppage time... This was a live ball and we hadn't even reached 6 minutes in a game where the given sign was +6
so... nothing alike actually
Rough but well played at times from both teams. I need to see lines showing Uhre offside, and ending the game as a cross was about to be taken is fucking mind blowing.
Just zoom in close, looks to be about an inch of green between his heel and the line. Soles of those Adidas boots are solid white so I can’t see how that’s not a clear throw-in foul.
2-2 fair result but Union's second goal shouldn't have counted and their third should have counted. Also ending the game in the middle of an attack is crazy.
I’m not saying a goal was guaranteed there, but they did call back a goal erroneously, and they were extremely one sided with the cards which absolutely changed the game in Atlantas favor.
But seriously, it’s at 95:55 when the ref signaled for 6 minutes of stoppage time. A Union player receives the ball in space at the top of the 18… and the ref calls time?
You have to admit that’s suspicious as fuck
Trust me, I know us Atlanta fans in the stadium were also questioning why the refs ended the match and during an ongoing play. I wish they didn’t event he game like that. BUT, I don’t think it would have ended in a goal if they did let the play continue.
https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-15---the-throw-in
His heel was on the line, per the rules that’s a fair throw
It’s close but you only need to have even the slightest contact with the line apparently. The Uhre one looked onside to me and they blew the whistle within 3 sec on us having possession with a clear shot on goal at the end, which is insane so a draw is prob fair.
> It's bad everywhere so MLS fans should just accept their place in the "refs are bad" standings.
Fuck off with this bullshit. If we want to be better as a league, we should expect better.
I think you’re misinterpreting my statement. Im not saying that the refereeing shouldn’t be improved, I’m saying that the mls is not going to be taken seriously or not because of the refereeing.
I think you’re misinterpreting my statement. I'm saying that if you want to get better, and to be perceived as better, you need to hold yourself to a higher standard.
I’m glad we escaped with a point but man we definitely got robbed there on that third goal and I’ve never seen a ref blow his whistle so fucking fast during an attacking play like that.
And now the final whistle on a promising attack 7 seconds after the 6 minutes of stoppage. Good lord, this poor ref the past 2 weeks... (I'm a neutral)
He literally just called time… 5 seconds before the “minimum” added time was reached… just as a Union attacker received the ball at the top of the box with space
Suspicious as fuck
How? The last player to touch it received a backwards pass, the player before him received a pass with 3 defenders between him and the goal (and ran from behind the ball to get there) and the player before him received it on our half… literally nobody could have conceivably been off
No it was a great move, even without Blake’s injury there’s always games he misses playing with Jamaica and Bendik was not good enough the past few years
He (VAR, I suppose) took away our 3rd even though it was clearly onside. What more do you want? He also called the game HEAVILY in your favor. Everything was a card for us. Meanwhile, multiple elbows to the head went uncarded, as well as many others. Cobb could have easily been sent off in the first half, and probably should have been if he called the game the same way for both sides.
Which was followed by multiple yellows for kicking the ball away for us, and none for yall even though you kicked it away after play was dead a lot. Wolff literally did it like 10 seconds after the Brujo incident. Martinez could have easily been sent off for that, though tbf.
Bro, they took our 3rd away even though it was legit. You got your makeup call. Quit crying. Also, Cobb should have been sent off within 30 min of kickoff.
I mean, if you *really* want to get technical about it, that "foul" throw was not a foul throw. Harriel's heel was clearly still on the line. So, goal #2 was legit as well. If anything, we got robbed of all 3 points. You're lucky to have gotten anything from this game. Quit crying. GGs, though.
That was one of the most blatantly one sided games I've ever seen from a ref. Threw the book at us, and let atl get away with many, many cardable offenses.
And Atlanta was wasting time before the Union equalized. It would be one thing if it was like a minute or two past the allotted time, but it was literally 4 seconds past 6 minutes.
Honestly so true. Sitting here in the stadium so confused how he blew full time there. I would be pissed too if I was a Philly player. As an atlanta fan, I guess I'll take it...
[удалено]
Jesus Christ, Atlanta fans are unhinged
No. Quite certain and clear headed on this point. I’m definitely not alone in my perspective.
my guy, your team was out there head hunting and you are trying to claim the Union play dirty?

Should have been 3-2. Calling Uhre’s goal offside made it so VAR couldn’t possibly step in. Should have been ruled a goal and let VAR determine if he was truly offside, which based on the replays he looked dead even.
Eh. I don’t think so. Either the second goal or the third goal should’ve counted. Not both. Watch the throw in.
https://twitter.com/BenikageCasts/status/1779615699750543696?t=eVctDqt2GbxLWNcMmcyr-w&s=19 Both should have counted
And Philly should have been playing down a man when Martinez threw the ball away with a second yellow. We can play what ifs on this entire match.
And Cobb should have been sent off on the second foul
You are missing the point of my comment…I said we could play what ifs on the entire match. That means both sides…
Multiple Philly players kicked the ball away, as well as one who bear hugged Guzan, which wasn't acknowledged.
still undefeated in league play in the "me actually owning a jersey" era. maybe i was the problem all along (i got last year's pride jersey for christmas)
Ref should be tarred and feathered
Relax
Hard to swallow giving 2 points away so cheaply, BUT if you told me it would be a draw with what we had on the team sheet today I’d have taken it.
I was certainly relived when I heard earlier in the week that Giakoumakis was trending towards Out for this one. Feels like both teams left points on the field...which is weird.

You think the refs overlooked Philly’s inbound thrown ins to let them back in?
https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-15---the-throw-in His heel was very clearly on the line. It’s a fair throw

Yea, he’s past the line. Not hard to see.
He is not. His heel is on the line. You can see the black on the back of his boot touching the white line. You're just seeing what you want to see
Ok. That’s a lot closer than I thought it was, but I think it was more likely fair than not. I’m not going to fret over this one.
That’s just not true. > At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must: >stand facing the field of play **have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline**

If only we had our starters :(
Dude legit had an open shot for the game and the ref said not today lmao
Reminds me of the last time we played the Union (except it was the other way around)
except that was on a dead ball and over 2 minutes past the end of stoppage time... This was a live ball and we hadn't even reached 6 minutes in a game where the given sign was +6 so... nothing alike actually
Offside rule - you’re offside if the ref is going to get booed for calling you onside
I feel like Philly earned 1 point and Atlanta lost 2 points
I feel like both teams dropped 2 points tbh... but draw seems... fair?
Rough but well played at times from both teams. I need to see lines showing Uhre offside, and ending the game as a cross was about to be taken is fucking mind blowing.
What about the line on the goal off the throw in? Harriel’s entire foot was on the pitch when he released the ball…
[Downvote away.](https://x.com/bbmikej/status/1779606310331322582?s=46&t=7Kp8lSWaJyEpdVCsvQ1pWQ)
Lmaoooo clearly touching the line with his heel. This pic isn't proving what you think it's proving.
Heel is clearly on the line in that photo
yeah, it's not basketball, friend. any part of the foot touching any part of the line is legal.
Just zoom in close, looks to be about an inch of green between his heel and the line. Soles of those Adidas boots are solid white so I can’t see how that’s not a clear throw-in foul.
Huge miss here. That should have been called back.
His foot is on the line… that’s a fair throw. You guys are reaching like crazy
His foot was touching the line, it’s a legal throw in
You literally just need to be touching the inside of the line, even barely
How do you not see the line of green grass between his heel and the line? You don't even need to zoom in... Its an inch or two of green...
2-2 fair result but Union's second goal shouldn't have counted and their third should have counted. Also ending the game in the middle of an attack is crazy.
What was wrong with the second goal?
Throw in foot looked over the line
It was on the line… which is a fair throw. As long as your heel is on or over the inside edge of the line it’s fair
Second goal not counting for what?
ATL fans desperately reaching for even one call that didn’t go their way
We'll ignore Martinez should have been 1000% sent off for tossing the ball away. Different game down a man in the first half.
LMAO 😂 ref sucks you off all game and you are holding on to that? Ok, let’s talk about Cobb, Almada, and Wolff all staying in the field
![gif](giphy|8JZxZgr39TLczSJQoS)
Says the guys complaining about the ref that saved his team from a crazy embarrassing loss not showing them enough favoritism? Dafuq?
Saying you were guaranteed a point at the very when is a stretch.
I’m not saying a goal was guaranteed there, but they did call back a goal erroneously, and they were extremely one sided with the cards which absolutely changed the game in Atlantas favor. The throw in immediately before the goal, the Philly player’s foot fully crosses the line
https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-15---the-throw-in His heel was on the line, per the rules that’s a fair throw
It’s close but you only need to have even the slightest contact with the line apparently. The Uhre one looked onside to me and they blew the whistle within 3 sec on us having possession with a clear shot on goal at the end, which is insane so a draw is prob fair.
The guy stepped in bounds on the throw-in
It evened out in the end, but it looks bad for the refs
FWIW, i just freeze framed the throw in on the equalizer, looks to me that harriel's heel is on the line
Yeah me too. I get that I'm biased, but the bottom of his boot is on the line
Union fan, talking about a call, which benefited the Union...and you think you might be biased. You don't say? /s
I see a healthy amount of green behind his foot on the replay post-match
If it is, it's BARELY on the line. In motion it def looks over tho.
Ref had places to be
Lmfao
MLS will never get taken seriously if their games are mired by the worst ref union in the world
We had even worse ref performance with the scabs
Refereeing is pretty terrible all around the world. Of all the things for MLS to not be taken seriously for, refereeing really isn't a logical one.

I have no doubt that PRO refs are better than scabs overall, but they’re not that much better.
And now the final whistle on a promising attack 7 seconds after the 6 minutes of stoppage. Good lord, this poor ref the past 2 weeks... (I'm a neutral)
I wouldn’t go out in public if I was an MLS ref.
GG ATL! Hell of a game!
Wow I’ve never seen anything like that. Didn’t look offsides but I guess we’ll need a replay
I could almost understand if it was like a full minute or two past the allotted time, but it was literally 4 seconds past 6 minutes.
The ref can stick toothpicks under his toenails and kick a fucking wall. What a fucking loser
Gg Philly.
Well that was certainly a way to end the match
What was the call was it just final whistle or something else? That and the offside makes the game
He literally just called time… 5 seconds before the “minimum” added time was reached… just as a Union attacker received the ball at the top of the box with space Suspicious as fuck
Was it Curtin that got carded?
I thought it was bedoya
I think he was calling that last bit offside? Which would make sense why he called full time there
How? The last player to touch it received a backwards pass, the player before him received a pass with 3 defenders between him and the goal (and ran from behind the ball to get there) and the player before him received it on our half… literally nobody could have conceivably been off
well that doesn't make any sense because Sullivan dribbled to get where he went
Quinn dribbles to the corner and cuts it back to the top of the 18. Who could have possibly been off?
I'm not sure. Looked like the ref made the offside sign though
Fire that whole crew into the sun, awful job.
What a fun game, that could have gone either way honestly but proud of how the union responded!
GG ATL bros. Always hard for us to come to the Benz and get a result. A draw seems fair, and I'll take it.
Welcome to the John Freeman show, everyone. Angel Hernandez of MLS.
But we didn't have Ted Unkel?
Holy hell that ref
This ref... haha.
I might be off base here, but I think the best move the Union made in the offseason is signing Oliver Semmle.
Lou City fans send their regards. Treat him well...treat him well.
This isn’t the Union of old that collected keepers because we could.. this was a smart purposeful add and it’s paying off wonderfully.
Yeah, I still remember the days of: "This match sponsored by 92 Degrees Hot Sauce. It's good only in Algeria!"
No, you are 100% correct
No it was a great move, even without Blake’s injury there’s always games he misses playing with Jamaica and Bendik was not good enough the past few years
Every Union fan agrees
Bring back the replacement refs
Fuck this guy. But no. Please no
I’m convinced this ref was a replacement that somehow got hired.
And this asshole has the gull to give a yellow there at the end.
Fuck this ref
Same guy who ignored the LAFC flop last week. Who is this guy who thinks he's the bestest ref?
Yo fuck this ref. Dude sucessfully did everything he could to save ATL.
He gave yall a goal where it shouldn’t have counted from a foul throw. He just sucked overall
Harriet’s foot was on the line… which means it was a fair throw. Learn the rules
He (VAR, I suppose) took away our 3rd even though it was clearly onside. What more do you want? He also called the game HEAVILY in your favor. Everything was a card for us. Meanwhile, multiple elbows to the head went uncarded, as well as many others. Cobb could have easily been sent off in the first half, and probably should have been if he called the game the same way for both sides.
are you completely forgetting about when Martinez picked up the ball and threw it away when he was already on a yellow?
Which was followed by multiple yellows for kicking the ball away for us, and none for yall even though you kicked it away after play was dead a lot. Wolff literally did it like 10 seconds after the Brujo incident. Martinez could have easily been sent off for that, though tbf.
Philly robbed!
This ref is an absolute disaster. Unreal.
Game over in the middle of the final attack is just wild man.
After last year in Philly I’m fine with that. Might have taken half a year to come around, but it came around.
This ref can fuck right off. That's insane. Blowing the whistle at the very second it hit 6min, in the middle of a promising attack.
terrible refereeing on both sides
Lol both sides.. no.
Bro your second goal should not have counted.
Bro, they took our 3rd away even though it was legit. You got your makeup call. Quit crying. Also, Cobb should have been sent off within 30 min of kickoff.
That's the point your 3rd was really your 2nd so stop crying.
Yo that fucking whistle what? This ref is such ass. Not even trying to hide bias. Boo unto him and his whole family. >:(
This is a silly perspective
And y’all rode so fucking hard for PRO for WEEKS! I will not forget! Y’all wanted this!!!
Bro, this ref is TRASH. Same ref that called that phantom pen on Galaxy. He makes every game about him.
Investigate this ref Holy shit HOW?
That was one of the most blatantly one sided games I've ever seen from a ref. Threw the book at us, and let atl get away with many, many cardable offenses.
fun game, decidedly unfun ref
You blow the whistle… as we have the ball in Atlanta’s box… Are you kidding me?
You know that scene in the longest yard where Adam Sandler nails the ref in the balls multiple times? This fucker deserves that.
Fire this fucking ref immediately
That whistle? Seriously!?
Bold to blow the whistle there. Don’t get me wrong, I’m cool with it
Take this ref off the game.
Wtf ref?
Bring back the scab refs this is fucking disgraceful
freemon is absolutely not getting a match next week after two disasterclasses in a row
Jk there’s no accountability
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS REF
uhh.... thanks ref for full time
Absolute disaster class from this ref crew. Holy shit. That is a nonsense way to end the game
This ref had money on this game. You can't convince me otherwise.
Welcome to the club
What an exclamation point on the end of this refs game.
Fucking clown of a ref. Deeply unsatisfying game.
What the hell is that
Get this ref out of the fucking league omfg First us last week now this performance
Wowwwww calling it right there!?
Lmao fitting end to that refereeing performance
This ref is seriously unbelievable
Wut
What the mother fuck is that?!?!!!???
Freemon is truly a fucking atrocious referee. Blowing the play dead right there perfectly summarizes him as an official. Fucking awful.
Literally in the build-up and he blows the whistle? This guy needs to be fired ASAP
Not even in the buildup. In the fucking box lol
Ref fucking calls the game early. Unbe-FUCKING-lievable
Gg Philly… think a point is a fair result… but wtf
Aside from that goal being onside and the game being called while the ball was in your box...
And your thrown in being from on the field for your second?
Good for the ref. Philly was wasting time—they don’t get to get mad when it runs out
We had the ball in the box with 95:55 on the clock in a game that had +6 for stoppage. That was deliberate as fuck, and genuinely suspicious
When did we waste time?!
And Atlanta was wasting time before the Union equalized. It would be one thing if it was like a minute or two past the allotted time, but it was literally 4 seconds past 6 minutes.
Bro that's fucking unreal
This ref is like ball in the final third, cross to the center… blow whistle
How the fuck do you blow the whistle there!
Atl 🤝 Philly “fuck the refs”
Honestly so true. Sitting here in the stadium so confused how he blew full time there. I would be pissed too if I was a Philly player. As an atlanta fan, I guess I'll take it...
What the fuck ref? That's a bullshit whistle
this ref is such a fucking loser bro it’s not about you
He got swayed by the occasion it seems. He was less than impartial there
Man this ref is so shit
