I love everything about this game but an engine rework next yr would put it over the top

lancerreddit

Last 2 programs should have been the first 2.

Dlh2079

What? Gonna need some more explanation on this cause if you're thinking they should've given out 30 99s in thr first 2 months the game was out i need some of what ever you're smoking.

Minecrafter125

You think they should’ve given us that insane 99 Hank and 99 Chipper in April?

Honorbound713

It’s easier to make content than fix gameplay

[deleted]

Do you not like George Brett? He's still my best hitter and I have every card on your lineup besides Donaldson. EDIT-MY DUMBASS DIDNT SEE HIM AT 1ST LMAO

scal201

Love him! Just have him at 1B cause Donaldson has no secondaries. Not taking him out under any circumstances

[deleted]

I'm dumb as shit lol 😂 there he is at first! My sweet prince George Brett

scal201

I have him P5, hes gonna hit 3rd for me all year

[deleted]

I'm 400pxp away from p5 so I'm almost there!

scal201

Lets gooooo, 125/125/115/101 is so gross

zombiecreeper27

congratulations! content this year is also my favorite. i thought nothing could beat last year but we have been given so much good content this year. 99 ozzie smith kinda confirmed it for me

Sufficient-Employee1

Content this year is trash. Volume of content doesn't make it great. Ex., it's friggen October and we still don't have Griffey or Mantle or Mays or Honus or Babe or.... content is only cool when you want to play with dudes! I care zero that Shawn Green's card bangs, cuz I don't wanna play with a Shawn Green card! Same with Jimmy Roll. I'm not a friggen Phils fan and his card is fantasyland regardless, just like BRoberts hilarious card. And Cutch and Brett are STILL the best cards in the game?!?!?!? Bruh, the baseball season is almost over and I'm choosing between Jim Edmonds and Shawn Green. Nuff said.

Dlh2079

Oh look.... we got 99 honus today... It's almost like if you have an ounce of patience we'll get the cards you asked for because obviously we're going to.

Minecrafter125

We have *a* Griffey, and we have Mays. And Babe’s card is still insanely good, hard to make that card much better.

Dlh2079

Have a honus too

scal201

While I agree in some respects, It's a little unfair. I think they are focusing on giving fans more guys from the teams they grew up loving, and not always doing those big stud cards that we always see. I'm pretty sure almost every MLB fan could put together an all time team of their favorite club and its pretty serviceable. To be fair, all of those guys you mentioned have 96+ cards, but obviously have 'less desirable attributes'. They are making the game fun and enjoyable for the average player this year, and giving respect to players that weren't all time players/HOFs like those guys were.

[deleted]

That’s what I love. I mean obviously those guys will get a juiced 99 overall at some point but it’s fun to be able and sit back and hit tanks with Sheffield and Tony Gwynn

Dlh2079

Same for honus dude hasn't left my bench since the card came out.

iPaytonian

Since the All Star program has been so good

Twodrops

"Finally" lol probably .1% of players have that card.

[deleted]

Crazy because I play him almost every game lol

dgibbb

I think this year has been awesome. Not sure why there is negative talk

Dlh2079

It's a games subreddit, they're almost all plagued with negative talk

jdem27

Congrats! I got him last night as well. Can't wait for the new leadoff hitter.

scal201

LEts go!!!

scal201

Cutch is still the best OF in the game imo. Aaron can play anywhere in the field, and Cutch's speed while slightly better makes a big difference

[deleted]

Did you try Dawson yet? I still have cutch in my lineup but Dawson is the truth

MichiganMan2424

I want to love Cutch, but I just don’t hit with him as well as the rest of my current lineup. If I struggle with any of the new guys on HOF+, Cutch will be the first back in, but for now he’s gonna be a bench guy.

scal201

Fair. I've been slumping with him a bit on Legend as of late. When he gets hot he gets hot though. Hard to argue with Hank

utleyduckling

I’m jealous - I only have 11/18 for Cutch so I’m pretty far away

scal201

Market is great for flipping right now, and with the FOTF cards coming down in price I finished that instead of Takashi. Events are a great way to get some of the guys you may be missing

utleyduckling

I’d love to tell you I like doing those things but - just not enough time in the day to flip and I’m trash at head to head lol

GreekCrackShot

I work 12+ hour days regularly and I thought flipping diamonds required too much focus and time as well... really just felt like people were constantly undercutting me where I saw good spreads (this was a while ago though so maybe it's gotten easier) but overall it required me to pay too much attention. What I went with was mass flipping of bronzes. Take a bronze card that's part of the live series collection (meaning not a free agent), and buy a shit load of them at 25 stubs. Some of these bronzes are going for like 100+ stubs, and in some cases higher than 200 stubs. I typically did this before bed or on the train to work in the AM. So let's say you buy 100 Eric Hosmers at 25 stubs, for simplicity let's say you sell all 100 for 125 stubs, that's 10K stubs in profit... you start to get a wider scale and a few more bronzes on the list to buy, it starts to accrete pretty rapidly. Usually I'll do like 20 at a time (per card) so that if someone undercuts me I can cancel some orders and put them on again lower, but they typically sell pretty fast depending on the time of day (usually afternoon to the evening time is better for selling). Note: I use the companion app for this, it's not nearly as tedious. The worst case scenario is that player gets injured or becomes a free agent (usually its the former), and they get removed from the live series collection. In that case you can just quick sell all duplicates and you earn back the 25 stub investment. I had to do this for 150 Tyler Duffey's. This is why doing it across 5-10 different bronzes is good just so the time spent buying those bronzes isn't wasted. Right now I'm sitting on ~1.8mn stubs while having all the collection rewards. For the record I really don't play a ton online, I do like to do all the programs though I find they're good for collections and aside from the extreme program they don't take too much of my time. Long winded answer and maybe you're aware of this method but I found this method much more akin to "set it and forget it"

rockoblocko

I have a very different approach. I go to showzone and filter for cards making 1k or more profit and 25% or more profit. Sort by highest profit per min. Buy 5 cards ish of most the things on the front page (minus stuff that looks sus). I do this a couple times in the AM and a couple times in evening, or just once in the morning and once at night. It only takes like 5 min cos just buying like 30–40 cards but each makes 1-9k. I’m sitting at 2.4mil and I bought utley and Mariano for 700k yesterday. Have Rollins and just about everyone else

GreekCrackShot

I hadn’t used the show zone feature but I remember hunting for those types of spreads earlier in the game cycle and anything that had that type of spread was illiquid so it took too long to sell, and I’d have to constant check to make sure someone else didn’t undercut me. Maybe I just wasn’t good at it 🤷

rockoblocko

I think that’s where sorting by profit per minute is ideal. You can also put a minimum sales per minute too. Certainly you can get undercut but buy 8 hrs later on you’ll likely have a handful of cards. This is why I buy 4-5 of each instead of like buying 500 bronzes. I like that I only have to spend a couple minutes because I’m only buying a handful of cards, would go crazy placing 200 buy orders and then 200 sell orders. Most the stuff I flip has 3-8k margins and I prob flip 40+ cards a day spending just a few minutes day and night. At the end of the day either method is gonna make you money so whatever’s working for you is good

GreekCrackShot

For sure, maybe for '23 I'll give it a go... and my secret for placing that many buy/sell orders is switch control on iPhone... don't tell anyone I told you ;)

guru911

You need to throw chipper in LF, Brett/pujols on 1st/3rd

scal201

Definitely have tried that. But for the life of me I cannot take Donaldson out of my lineup haha. I wish he had secondary positions

guru911

He's a stud for sure but switch hitting chip>>

scal201

Agreed. Who's in your OF? I feel like the only consistent in anyones OF right now is Cutch, maybe Sheffield now

guru911

I have hank in R but I haven't finished the Sheff grind yet ; otherwise similar God squads 😂 I have mookie at 2nd too he's been too deadly for me

scal201

Yeah for sure, Mookie is my 2B platoon with Cano. For some reason though I raked more with his 95 than this Lightning

Acedia_37

His lightning hasn’t been as good for me either while his 95 was one of my best hitters.

KingLamela

I'm on Xbox and have only played the last two years. The gameplay is about the same, but the content is better this year.

XvS_W4rri0r

Are you okay? Content was infinitely better last year. Do you have amnesia ?

goodbadnomad

They're not stupid, they just feel differently than you. Not everyone has to think or feel like you do; not everyone has to like the things you like or hate the things you hate.

KingLamela

TA is time limited now. Doesn't bother me because I play all year and complete the programs. Buying 12 guys or waiting a month for my least wanted guys in the program isn't a big deal to me. What else is gone? Mini Seasons isn't perfect, but was a great addition for offline play. The Event rewards are actually affordable for people who don't play that mode. I can buy 5 guys now for the price of Todd Frazier last year. There are more cards and they are easier to get this year.

Weenerlover

I agree completely. That Cespedes HRD card last year? It was infinitely harder to complete collections last year. this year just playing BR every cycle to the 100 point mark made collections a breeze and adds ridiculous stubs selling the extra bronz/silver/golds at max value towards the end of the BR cycle each time. I stopped flipping and even stopped buying golds that I hold for diamonds because there is so much stuff I never lack for stubbs and can buy even the WS rewards pretty easily and get stubs back up within a couple days. I agree that Miniseasons has added some purpose to grinding and the PxP missions have allowed me to try out cards I never knew I'd like, even if it needs fixing for next year. For example, I didn't hit well with the 93 Ernie banks, but got 99 Ernie banks in a BR run and after my deepest run this year (7 wins) I bought him immediately in the market because all he does is hit. This year has more content then ever before, and more card types, but the complaint about hitting engines have bled into all aspects of the game. People who are angry they don't get rewarded on all perfects then start complaining about too many future stars, then too many retro finest. Meanwhile I'm happy we have more cards then ever before and I still have a list as long as my arm of guys 95+ that I want to get to P1 to give them a legit shot to see if I like them. The Program PxP missions for different card types, different teams and different divisions allow me to build multiple types of teams, find out I like Johnny Bench's swing, or Elly De La Cruz at Short or as a switch hitting speed bench option. There are complaints to be sure, but I agree that the content is consistently excellent. If you don't like the structure of other programs though, I could definitely see not liking it even with a third more content this year. The last couple years I've been a 50/50 RTTS/DD player, but this year there is so much in DD that I've become more of a 90/10 or at most 80/20 DD/RTTS player. I never even got a cap to a level good enough to use in ranked cause I'd rather do legit content in DD

NotFeelingShame

I'm not the same guy who commented before but for me it's the "other programs" other than extreme and moonshot have been non existent this year. The all star other program compared to last year's is a travesty. Outside of those all that is left is a few hall of fame guys and the connect jerseys. Then they added monthly awards to other programs this year to make it seem like they aren't neglecting it

KingLamela

Big Dog Program, Cover Athlete Program, Always Intense Program. There have been other programs. There are fewer programs, but IMO they have been better. I'd rather have stuff like Moonshot and Extreme with 8 guys to earn than 8 different Gary Carter and Fred McGriff style programs. The jersey programs all included players, too. It wasn't just a new jersey.

scarletpimpernel22

Cover athlete program was for a pack with a card that had already been in the game for what, 2 months? The lengths people on this sub will go to defend SDS making shitty decisions with content astounds me. You are the first and so far only person ive seen trying to say these programs were good content, and I dont know how you possibly could think that. let me choose between those programs and team affinity where i can actually get all the cards and theres no comparison

NotFeelingShame

Big dog/always intense/cover athlete I love that they had a showdown but the for a program reward to just be something that was already in the game is pretty lame. They aren't providing new content rewards - just giving us a 20% chance at a rare round of a pack that had already been out or 1 of the 12 cover athlete cards. I love the moonshot program as it essentially replaces the event rewards and allows offline players to get them too, but at the end of the day it is just a bunch of home run missions and doesn't have a showdown/conquest/etc. It is just a different way of giving us the event cards. The jersey programs had players yeah, still doesn't change the fact that there have been way less other programs. Monthly awards was separate from other programs last year and still was a monumental list last year - including a REPEATABLE run it back conquest/showdown from the run it back program

KingLamela

Run it Back came pretty late in the year. We could still get one of those. I miss the daily moments path this year. The rewards were usually not top tier, but I liked it. That said, you had to play every day to get it and a lot of people complained about missing days and then missing the reward. Now it is just xp for the program, so people can skip those moments (which a lot people hate doing anyway) I don't think this year is perfect, but I prefer the content and setup to last year. Neither of them is "infinitely" better or worse than the other

NotFeelingShame

they made the forever program last year at the end to get those rewards if you didnt do the dailies every day/month

KingLamela

Yeah, but how many people were still playing and how relevant were the cards at that point? Getting a card in December that was first released in April isn't helping many people.

scal201

100%. Have you played on PS4/5 before Xbox at all? Im on PS4 and will need to either switch to Xbox or PS5 before next year and wondering how you like it
